She’s running for her life. He’s the safe haven she never expected to find. The holiday season is about to get HOT. Hiding out for the holiday season in the heart of the South? Not something that Haley Quick ever expected to have on her to-do list but then…she never expected her ex to want her dead, either. Turns out, life is full of surprises. Time to deal. Haley has ditched New York for a crazy … New York for a crazy little dot on the map known as Point Hope, Alabama. It’s a town gone extra crazy for the holidays, and Haley is sticking out like a sore thumb with her very much Grinch-self.
But enter sexy sheriff Spencer Lane…Tall, muscled, and made with an extra dose of sex appeal, he is exactly the kind of man that Haley should be avoiding. He’s charming, he looks way too good in a Santa hat, and, oh, yes, he’s her new landlord. The hits just keep coming. She can’t afford to let Spencer learn all of her secrets, a tough job since she is living with the man. No sex, though. It’s purely a business relationship. Except…the holidays in the South sure do get HOT. Or maybe that’s just sexy Spencer. Usually, Haley falls for the bad guy. It’s the whole reason she’s running for her life. She can’t help but wonder…What would it be like to fall for a man like Spencer?
He just got his Christmas wish.
Sheriff Spencer Lane can’t believe his luck. The most beautiful, fascinating woman he’s ever seen has just dropped into his life like a gift from, well, the big guy in red. Only the problem is that Haley seems to think Spencer is some by-the-book, nice guy. Probably because of the badge. And if she wants him to be the hero, that’s a role that he’s happy to play for her. But the truth is, Spencer has plenty of darkness inside, too. An ex Navy SEAL, he knows how to get sh—um, stuff done. He also knows how to be very, very naughty.
When danger threatens his Haley, all bets are off. No one is going to hurt her. No one is going to threaten her. Not in his town. Not on his watch. The nice guy will show Haley just how bad he can be.
Fake snow, a parade of wild elves, and a stalker ex don’t make for the merriest of times, but in Point Hope, anything can happen—and it usually does. Ready for a steamy story that will get you in the ho-ho-ho spirit? Settle back, curl up with Spencer, and have yourself a jolly old time.

She’s running for her life. He’s the safe haven she never expected to find. The holiday season is about to get HOT.
And Hot it does get! This book is an Insta-love between a woman on the run and Sheriff determined to keep her safe. This is a prime example of why I love Cynthia Eden’s romantic suspense.
It is a standalone but we do see some Wilde characters. I loved the pacing of this book, the hot scenes between Spencer and Haley, and the whole story in general. I love Spencer’s determination to help Haley but yet he will stand back if it’s what she wants.
One Hot Holiday was a sexy romantic suspense story with a dash of Christmas cheer. Haley is on the run from her ex when she is literally tackled by the Spencer, the sheriff of the small-town she has chosen to hide in. Sparks fly between Haley and Spencer and he vows to uncover Haley’s secrets.
Haley was a spitfire and very determined to do things on her own. Spencer was the classic alpha male that would protect her at whatever the cost. Add in a bunch of interesting side characters whom I hope to see in their own stories and you have a fast-paced, suspenseful romp with plenty of heat and romance.
I don’t usually read a lot of contemporary romance but when the cover of this one attracted my eye and I read the blurb I decided I would give it a go.
Sometimes you just have to read outside of your usual comfort zone. It was also at a bargain price too! The cover has a cute couple kissing on it with a wintery scene in the background, despite the title One Hot Holiday, so I guess there could be a bit of cute steaminess in the book.
It immediately became clear the “holiday” mentioned was Christmas. The two main characters are Haley Quick and Sheriff Spencer Lane. We quickly learn that Haley is running away from something, and is really scared and vulnerable, which is probably why she is wondering around Pointe Hope without taking account of her surroundings. Haley is about to be run over by elves on bikes when Spencer spots her, and he certainly likes what he sees until he realises, she is in the path of the elves on bikes and may get hurt if he doesn’t act rapidly. Spencer rushes over grabbing Haley out of the route the bikes are on. Haley doesn’t take being grabbed by a stranger very well initially and isn’t in a friendly mood despite the good looks of her saviour. Then when Haley gets to the place, she has rented to stay it turns out that Sheriff Spencer Lane is her new landlord and he is suspicious about her making the booking in a male name. Haley quickly comes up with the explanation that she is a woman traveling alone and likes to be cautious. Spencer doesn’t really believe Haley, there is something about her that has his Navy Seal, Sheriff radar flaring! Of course, I have revealed that this book is a romance, but Spencer & Haley certainly go on one heck of a rollercoaster journey together. There’s also a little chemistry between Wilde agents Blair and Linc, that I would like to read more about too. The book has a great “feel good” aspect to it, the friendliness of the Pointe Hope residents, the camaraderie between Spencer and the people in the local bar. There is a brilliant scene where Spencer is volunteered to sing karaoke and Haley is shocked and impressed with how well he can sing. It makes her wonder, and myself as reader, if Spencer Lane is bad at anything? You’ll need to read the book to find out!
My favourite characters were Haley and Spencer who both seem to have had sad pasts and suffered great losses. I also liked Blair and Linc, the Wilde agents, they were at times like a comedy duo. Another character I really liked too was Titus the deputy and the unquestioning back up Spencer ends up needing. I was also intrigued by Eric the owner of Wilde Securities and his employees.
My immediate thoughts upon finishing this book were that I really enjoyed this book, it had mystery, suspense, betrayal, romance and some holiday cheer too!
To sum up this is a great taster of the Wilde Ways series and I am certainly interested in reading more. In fact, I really hope Blair and Linc get their own book too! This may be a novella but it is jam packed with action, mystery, suspense, murder and betrayal all alongside a budding romance!
Loved it from beginning to end. I don’t normally read Christmas books but since it goes with the Wilde series I chanced it and I am so glad I did. Spencer Lane is fantastic and probably one of my favorite leading men. He and Haley are thrust into a fast-paced situation in which only he can get them out of. I could not put it down!
Enjoyed the book. Have loved every book she has written….
Love Cynthia eden
One Hot Holiday is book six in the Wilde Ways series by Cynthia Eden. This book is the perfect mix of holiday cheer, a few shenanigans, suspense, and sexy times.
Haley Quick loved her life in New York as the manager of a gallery. She finally let her defenses down and let herself fall for a handsome man who said all the right things. Only to realize none of it was real. Underneath that handsome face laid an evil man. She knew too much and now he wanted her dead. So she ran. What better place to hide and hopefully start over than the tiny town of Point Hope, Alabama.
Sheriff Spencer Lane grew up in Point Hope. It was home. And after he served as a Navy Seal, it was where he wanted to be. On the outside, Spencer seems like a laid back, small town sheriff. But he has deadly skills he acquired as a seal. Skills he hopes will never be needed in Point Hope. That was until Haley came to town.
As soon as Spencer saw Haley, he couldn’t believe how beautiful she was. And when they touched, it was electric. But Haley has so many secrets. The last thing she needs is a swoony sheriff hanging around. Only much to her surprise, the sexy sheriff turns out to also be her new land lord.
Haley is determined to keep Spencer in the friend zone but Spencer is determined to be more. He knows she is hiding something, that she’s scared. But she doesn’t know what he’s capable of. He will use every resource available to him to keep her safe. Because he has plans for Haley Quick. He is not planning on letting her run again. He has plans of making her his.
“In the storm he was her center.”
This was actually pretty suspenseful. Cynthia kept me guessing all the way through. I loved Haley and Spencer’s connection. Spencer was all tough and gruff and alpha but he was so tender with Haley. The ending was so cute.
This is a perfect addition to your holiday reading list. I have only read a few of Cynthia’s books but I definitely plan to read more.
Delightful holiday romantic suspense
Wonderful holiday read for those who like romantic suspense mixed into their stories.
Cynthia delivers a hot spin-off from her Wilde series.
Spencer is a small town sheriff, a former seal, in southern Alabama. Haley is running for her life right into Spencer’s town and arms.
good afternoon read
Great story line with a small towns warm Holliday atmosphere
One Hot Holiday by Cynthia Eden is book 6 in the Wilde Ways Series. This is the story of Haley Quick and Spencer Lane. I have read the previous books (and Loved them!) but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Haley has left the city for a small town on the map called Point Hope, Alabama. Haley ex is out to really get her so she is trying to lay low and thinks this is a great place. Then she finds that Spencer Lane is the person she will be renting from which puts the hot sheriff in his sites. Spence is more than just a small town sheriff. Spencer is also a ex Navy SEAL who has a dark side but he can’t believe his luck when Haley is in his sites.
I am a big fan of Ms. Eden’s writing and this was a great read!
ONE HOT HOLIDAY is the sixth instalment in Cynthia Eden’s contemporary, adult WILDE WAYS romantic suspense series. This is Point Hope, Alabama Sheriff / former Navy SEAL Spencer Lane, and twenty four year old, art gallery manager Haley Quick’s story line. ONE HOT HOLIDAY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.
Told from several third person perspectives including Spencer and Haley ONE HOT HOLIDAY follows the building relationship between Sheriff / former Navy SEAL Spencer Lane, and twenty four year old, art gallery manager Haley Quick. Haley Quick is on the run but refuses to admit to her new landlord, Sheriff Spencer Lane that trouble follows in her wake. From the outset, Haley is stalked by someone from her past, and within hours of arriving in Point Hope, Alabama, Haley’s life continues to spiral out of control. Sheriff Spencer Lane will call in additional help from Wilde Security, in an effort to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love. What ensues is the quick building relationship and love between Spencer and Haley, and the potential fall-out as Haley wants to run in an effort to stay one-step ahead of those trying to destroy her life, people who have found our story line heroine.
Haley Quick was supposed to be in witness protection but powerful people have been ‘bought’ and Haley’s life hangs in the balance. From the FBI to private investigators, everyone is searching for our story line heroine, in the hopes of silencing Haley for good. Sheriff Spencer Lane knows immediately that something is wrong with his new tenant. Frightened and quick to run, Haley feels trapped even with the help of the local Sheriff’s office and the man with whom Haley will fall in love.
The relationship between Spencer and Haley is one of insta-lust to love. Spencer Lane’s attraction to Haley is palpable, and within hours Spencer is hoping for his own happily ever after. Haley had hoped to start her life over in the small town of Point Hope, Alabama, and meeting Spencer Lane gave our heroine pause for a possible future but a future that is threatened by someone from her past. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to Wilde Security’s new agents Blair Kincaid, and Linc Dalton; deputy Titus Malone; deputy Cody Waller PI / hitman Francis Callaway, and Haley’s ex Andrew Bradley.
ONE HOT HOLIDAY is a suspense filled story of power and control; of acceptance and love; of vengeance and betrayal. The premise is engaging and captivating; the characters are colorful, energetic and dynamic; the romance is spicy and spirited.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Cynthia Eden offers another steamy romance that includes a page-turning intrigue with malicious villains.
Haley Quick is running for her life from an abusive ex-boyfriend. She stops in Point Hope, Alabama, a small Southern town, where she hopes to hide for awhile. There she meets Sheriff Spencer Lane, a former SEAL. They have an instant attraction to each other even though Haley wants to keep a low profile, and Spencer knows she is on the run.
As it turns out, Haley unknowing rents a small cottage that is part of Spencer’s house. Of course, this put the two main characters near each other. This makes it easier for them to become better acquainted, and it also allows Spence to protect Haley.
Cynthia Eden creates realistic characters which allows the reader to relate to the characters feelings. She also includes lots of hot steamy love making.
However, do not assume this is just a simple romantic novel. Ms. Eden creates a plot that has so much intrigue that my feelings rotated between fear, despair and lots of angst.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Haley and Spence are an awesome H/H. Lots of action, lots of romance with twists and turns. Haley is on the run from an ex and runs to the small town of Point Hope. There, Sheriff Spencer Lane’s first sight of her he has to save her from elves on bicycles. Their romance develops quickly and dialogue between the two is awesome. It was a great Christmas read and I love the town of Point Hope. If you love romantic suspense with lots of action, this is the book for you!
One Hot Holiday is a suspenseful sexy read by Cynthia Eden just in time for the holiday season. No time like the present to make a better choice in life. Hiding out in a small Southern town sounds perfect to me and by the end of this book it does Haley Quick too.
A bad guy chasing after a woman alone in the world, this story could have had a much different ending. However, you can count on this author to have just the right good guy waiting in the wings. With a bit of small town quirkiness, Haley and Sheriff Spencer Lane have a life changing holiday. It is entertaining with a couple of Wilde Security personal making an appearance for extra pizazz.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
