She’s running for her life. He’s the safe haven she never expected to find. The holiday season is about to get HOT. Hiding out for the holiday season in the heart of the South? Not something that Haley Quick ever expected to have on her to-do list but then…she never expected her ex to want her dead, either. Turns out, life is full of surprises. Time to deal. Haley has ditched New York for a crazy … New York for a crazy little dot on the map known as Point Hope, Alabama. It’s a town gone extra crazy for the holidays, and Haley is sticking out like a sore thumb with her very much Grinch-self.
But enter sexy sheriff Spencer Lane…Tall, muscled, and made with an extra dose of sex appeal, he is exactly the kind of man that Haley should be avoiding. He’s charming, he looks way too good in a Santa hat, and, oh, yes, he’s her new landlord. The hits just keep coming. She can’t afford to let Spencer learn all of her secrets, a tough job since she is living with the man. No sex, though. It’s purely a business relationship. Except…the holidays in the South sure do get HOT. Or maybe that’s just sexy Spencer. Usually, Haley falls for the bad guy. It’s the whole reason she’s running for her life. She can’t help but wonder…What would it be like to fall for a man like Spencer?
He just got his Christmas wish.
Sheriff Spencer Lane can’t believe his luck. The most beautiful, fascinating woman he’s ever seen has just dropped into his life like a gift from, well, the big guy in red. Only the problem is that Haley seems to think Spencer is some by-the-book, nice guy. Probably because of the badge. And if she wants him to be the hero, that’s a role that he’s happy to play for her. But the truth is, Spencer has plenty of darkness inside, too. An ex Navy SEAL, he knows how to get sh—um, stuff done. He also knows how to be very, very naughty.
When danger threatens his Haley, all bets are off. No one is going to hurt her. No one is going to threaten her. Not in his town. Not on his watch. The nice guy will show Haley just how bad he can be.
Fake snow, a parade of wild elves, and a stalker ex don’t make for the merriest of times, but in Point Hope, anything can happen—and it usually does. Ready for a steamy story that will get you in the ho-ho-ho spirit? Settle back, curl up with Spencer, and have yourself a jolly old time.

One Hot Holiday was packed full of drama and action and kept me on my toes with every page. I absolutely could not put it down!!! Haley is on the run from her ex who is a scary and dangerous criminal, and she finds herself in a small town in Alabama and renting a place from the local sheriff, Spencer. Spencer can instantly sense that something is off with Haley and makes it his mission to protect her and make her feel safe. He is smitten with her early on and his fierce protectiveness of her was HOT and swoon-worthy!!!
Haley and Spencer had some great chemistry and I enjoyed reading about their relationship as it grew. There was so much action once Haley’s ex found where she was that I was 100% engaged and on the edge of my seat for the rest of the book. Her ex was definitely a master manipulator and the author did a terrific job with his character in the book.
I read this book in one sitting and Cynthia Eden is quickly becoming one of my go to authors. I really enjoy her writing style and the thoroughness of her story plots. I would definitely recommend this book and cannot wait to read more from this author.
Those who follow me know how much I love holiday stories. They are just the best! It’s even better when it’s written by an author I love. It’s the best holiday treat I could ask for!
There is something about a story by Cynthia Eden that always makes me happy. She writes this wonderful hot sexy hero’s that you want for yourself. Very alpha but also they want their women to be strong and stand on their own two feet. They want to stand beside their heroines, okay maybe slightly in front of them but only if they are in danger. If danger is present than they are taking over and you’re out of luck.
Just be happy to know that they won’t let anything happen to you.
I love how the bad guys really underestimated Spencer and his abilities. They learn the hard way no to do that. He turned out to be stronger, smart and all-around better than the lot of them. A man you’d want on your side when you are facing danger.
Now you might feel that how fast they fell in love was a bit too quick but with the length and the type of story it worked.
Now let’s talk about Haley. Sometimes I liked her and other times I was like…are you crazy!!! Ha! I love characters like that. They are never boring. I got that she was having trouble trusting anyone after all she’s been though. I don’t blame her and would trust anyone either for a long time. But at times it was too much.
I do love how they are together. They made me laugh and sigh more than once. They work and right away you root for them.
As a whole, the story works wonderfully. It’s romantic with a thread of danger running through it along with some holiday cheer. I wanted to visit the town. It sounded so cute and reminded me of Hart of Dixie. Gosh, I do miss that show.
One Hot Holiday is the perfect book to curling up by the tree this holiday for a good read. Don’t forget the hot chocolate. You might need something tasty to relax with. It was great seeing the connection between Eric Wilde and Spencer. The story isn’t necessary tided into the Wilde series but the quick glimpse will leave you wanting to know more if you don’t know already.
This book grabbed me from the moment the elves appeared on page one. It has awesome characters, lots of wit and humor, a heroine on the run for her life, and a strong and sexy protector. I loved this one. One Hot Holiday is the perfect Christmas read.
She never expected to have to hide out for the holiday season in the heart of the south, but then again, Haley Quick never expected her ex to want her dead either. Be prepared to get very warm indeed with One Hot Holiday…or should I say one sexy sheriff? Haley and Spencer are two strong, captivating with some fiery chemistry right from the start but with Haley running from her past so there’s plenty of resistance as well. The sheriff is protective and ready to be naughty in several different ways (LOL) but Haley isn’t really a push over and she could be just as feisty and protective.
The plot is fast paced, full of holiday cheer and shenanigans as well as excitement and suspense as the bad guys come to town in search of Haley. So along with a few laughs and lots of red hot passion, there is some twists and turns to keeps readers on their toes and ensures that this romance is one spicy read that makes their toes curl in delight.
One Hot Holiday is a great description for this amazing story. Spencer and Hayley were great characters with sizzling hot chemistry. Hayley was in danger and on the run. When she rented a house she was shocked to find out that her landlord was the town sheriff. This is a fast-paced, suspenseful story that is filled with action, suspense and danger. It is another amazing read and I would definitely recommend it.
This was a fabulous story with a relationship that developed fast and boy did I enjoy the dialogue. Spence might be a small town sheriff but you underestimate him at your peril ! This story starts a it meant to go on with Elves, snow ( well almost) and all the warm feels that made me think of Christmas. I mentioned Spence because he truly shone for me but Haley was no slouch when it came to snagging her man ! Trust me show that girl some mistletoe and she’s more than ready to jump in but with her past catching up all Haley wants to do is keep running but is that really what she’s going to do ?
As much as I really loved this couple I also loved the characters we meet along the way. Fans of the authors Wilde series will particularly enjoy seeing old friends pop up and obviously there’s not just a Ghost to watch out for but rather tasty and very self confident deputy Titus now too ! Honestly this book is fun, sweet, sexy and definitely worth your time . Easy to read and with an ending that tied everything up neatly.
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Haley Quick is running from her ex boyfriend who happens to be a criminal on New York but has never been prosecuted. She runs to a small town in Alabama and it’s Christmas time. Spencer Lane is a former SEAL and now is the sheer of Point Hope. He can’t believe he has to save a beautiful woman from getting run over by elves on bikes. He can tell she’s terrified but she won’t tell him the truth. Haley is renting a cottage and her landlord is Spencer. He wants to protect Haley, he says because he’s the sheriff but he is fallen for her. With several people trying to kill Haley, Spencer will do anything to keep her safe.
A terrific Christmas story with action, sex, and mystery. A crazy ex who thinks he can get away with anything. A hunky sheriff and a gorgeous woman.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for the author *
Holy mistletoe…this was one crazy, danger filled, wildly romantic holiday read!
When Haley arrives in Pointe Hope to hide out, the last thing she wanted was to land on the local sheriff’s radar. But she’s more than on Spencer’s radar, she immediately captures not only his desire but his suspicions. Haley Quick is running and fortunately, she’s run right into Spencer Lane’s life.
Haley isn’t a kick tail heroine. Her strength comes from a past that is determined to catch up to her. As her relationship with Spencer grows and she fears that she may have brought trouble to him and his town, she continues to grow until she’s able to do exactly what’s needed to keep herself and the man who has captured her heart safe. I loved that she was soft and sweet while also fierce, loyal and determined.
Spencer is absolutely perfect. A little rough around the edges, he isn’t one for flowy words. But when it comes to protecting Haley he knows exactly what he needs to do. With a bit of jealous possessiveness to color his character, he was everything I love in a hero. Of course, I tend to fall in love with every one of this author’s heroes. It’s a thing.
This story is layered with danger at every turn and all of it laced with the growing emotions of both Haley and Spencer. Their chemistry is believable and watching their relationship develop was pure enjoyment. The steam between them was enough to melt the polar ice cap and have me tossing off my comfy sofa blanket and switching from hot cocoa to iced tea. Add in plenty of quick, sharp one liners and a list of characters that had me laughing and then longing for more of them, and you’ve got one perfect Christmas treat in your hands.
An alpha male who with one look recognized the woman meant for him. Haley Quick is running from her abusive and wealthy ex. She heard things that she was not meant to hear and now is on the run for her life. She arrives in Point Hope, Alabama and maybe she will finally be safe. Safe except for her attraction to the sheriff who is her new landlord, Spencer Lane. Spence, former SEAL and bodyguard, knows that she is running from something and hopes that in time she will share her fears. He can help her, but time is running out as she may not be as safe as she thought. I really enjoyed this story with the connection to the sexy “Wilde” series. Maybe there will be more Point Hope stories? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
S Another great, suspense filled story! So enjoyed the story between Spencer and Haley. Haley is running and Spencer is immediately drawn to her. Spencer is a great alpha hero. Loved the appearance of some of the Wilde Security folks as well as the suggested reference to another character who gets his book soon! Great dialogue between characters as usual.
ONE HOT HOLIDAY IS EVERY-FREAKING-THING AND A BUCKET FULL OF MORE! This is the most satisfying, super sexy, and most fun romantic suspense EVER from Cynthia Eden!
This particular romantic suspense is the most fiery and entertaining Holiday fun read I could ask for. I definitely feel the spirit of the Holidays in this story and enjoyed it IMMENSELY! Steamy, smile-inducing fun and action-packed, One Hot Holiday is unforgettable and a book to be cherished during the Christmas season. Spencer and Haley made grin, sigh, had me weak-in-the-knees and made me ever so happy. Its the best written story to date and one I will undoubtedly read again before Christmas just to get all the FEELS and all the FUN. What an incredible story.
One Hot Holiday gets a BUCKET FULL OF AWESOME FIVE SCORCHING STARS!
Good Christmas story, suspenseful and steamy.
This story has so much to offer! An ex-SEAL, now Sheriff, in an adorable quirky town. A woman trying to escape her psychotic ex. Wonderful primary and secondary characters. Action and steam interwoven through all the chapters. If want to see the bad guy get whats coming to him, this is the story you need to read.
I read part of the sample and thought the story had potential. I even bought it for 99 cents because I wanted a fun little Christmas read. But when I really started reading it, it was very poorly written. Not dual POV. Lots of italicized thoughts in the text. Hard ons after only a few minutes interaction. A zap of electricity when their hands touch. She’s wearing a long brown coat when it’s 70 degrees outside in Alabama. These are very beginner ideas and mistakes and just poor technique. If a story starts out bad I usually give it a chance because sometimes they turn around. But if the technique is bad that won’t change, so my apologies to the author but I couldn’t finish it.
Great book to read during this time of year.
I’m obsessed with holiday stories! this was so good, I read it in one sitting!
This book was super cute! I loved the angle that the Cynthia Eden took with this book. Now I want to read the Wilde series!
Haley Quick is running from her life in New York. What else are you supposed to do when your ex wants to kill you?
Spencer Lane, a formal SEAL turned small town local sheriff wants nothing more than to protect after meeting her. He is unable to stay away from her.
Can Spencer protecter without crossing any lines? Or will Haley just turn and run again?

I have to preface my review of Cynthia Eden’s “One Hot Holiday” by saying that I was a bit disappointed because the synopsis led me to believe that this story would be something of a holiday-themed rom-com with light suspense elements. IMO, that’s really not the case; it’s a true romantic suspense novel, very little is light-hearted or fun about it, and while it does take place in December and there are a few random Christmas elements, it is NOT a Christmas/holiday romance. Basically, if you’re hoping to find a romantic Christmas laugh-fest, I’d suggest that you look elsewhere.
Even though it wasn’t what I was expecting, I didn’t completely hate this book. The story was fast-paced, and main characters Haley and Spencer were likeable though not terribly well-developed. There was virtually no relationship development either, but fans of insta-lust/insta-love won’t be bothered by that as much as I was. I didn’t personally find the connection between Haley and Spencer to be all that compelling, but there was plenty of steam, and Spencer was very alpha. Once he decided that he wanted Haley, he bent over backwards to convince her to stay and to ensure that no harm would come to her in “his” town.
For me, the best part of the story was probably the two agents from Wilde Security, Blair and Linc, who came to town as a favor to Spencer to help keep Haley safe. I really enjoyed their amusing banter, though truthfully, probably not enough to pick up another book by this author.
Overall, “One Hot Holiday” wasn’t a very good fit for me, but if you’re a fan of romantic suspense, the insta-lust/insta-love trope, and/or alpha heroes, this book just might be for you.

Yes, I’m one of those people. I love all things Christmas. The lights, the decorations, the trees, the cheesy movies, and…Christmas-themed romance books. Even the romantic suspense ones. OK, especially the romantic suspense ones. So, I thought I’d give this one a try.
It’s a fairly fast-paced story with a decent, if not a bit predictable at times, plot. With that said, there were parts of it that I wasn’t quite sure how they would untangle and play out, so it really did keep me engaged and invested in the story. I’m not a huge fan of the insta-love thing but given the timeline in the book, it works.
If you’re looking for an entertaining holiday-themed read that has some suspense and isn’t all Hallmark Christmas movie-ish (although I confess to loving those, too), I think you’ll enjoy the time spent in this book.
NICUnurse’s Rating: I give One Hot Holiday by Cynthia Eden 4 out of 5 stars!
