Faking it never felt so good. How can a man who designs sex toys for a living be so awkward around women? My boss, Dane Dixon, is hot and British, a killer combination, but he can’t look me in the eye and has never said more than five consecutive words to me. Until the day he calls me into his office and asks me to be his fake girlfriend. Um… what?! This is strictly for publicity purposes, Dane … girlfriend.
Um… what?!
This is strictly for publicity purposes, Dane says. We fake date until after his company re-launches. For two months, I’ll have to pretend to be hot for him, pretend to adore him, pretend to love making out with him. Wait… I’m pretty sure I’m not supposed to be kissing him. But the line between pretend attraction and real, sizzling-hot lust starts to blur — and then it disappears completely.
I’m in so much trouble.

I liked this fake relationship story because Dane and Rika were already into each other when they agreed to their “business” arrangement. Dane was so adorably flustered with Rika being around if it weren’t for her being a little bold he may never have admitted what he really wanted.
Rika was so sensitive to what Dane needed emotionally and this is a case for opposites attracting. It also shows how the right person can bring out the best in their partner.
If you are looking for a sweet and spicy relatively angst free read, you will enjoy ONE HOT CRUSH.

Dane Dixon finally meets his match in Rika Solberg! Dane’s new boss (the woman to whom he sold his company) assigns Rika to be his personal assistant. His business is designing and selling ‘pleasure devices’ to women. When the new boss insists he get a girlfriend to boost his public image, Dane offers Rika that role and gets her another job to avoid workplace problems.
The story is paced fairly quickly – sometimes a little too quickly I thought. But the characters are so likable that it didn’t matter. I thought Dane especially was endearing in his reactions to Rika. She is a perfect match for him; Rika is a strong and versatile young woman with a compassionate heart. It’s a romance novel, so of course the fake relationship evolves pretty quickly into passionate reality. Each book in the series was good, but I think I enjoyed this one the best because the couple was just so good together, and both seemed like people I’d want to know.
The HEA for Dane and Rika actually wraps up the 3-book Hot Brits series quite nicely for all the Dixon brothers. The ending sets up a couple of enticing options for the hero of a new book, and a potential heroine as well. I’m already looking forward to reading whatever Anna Durand publishes next!

Rika couldn’t believe that Dane the man who made sex toys could be so awkward around women. Rika was Dane’s personal assistant but he hardly spoke with her. Dane really liked looking at Rika and it made him nervous he always stammered when he had to talk to her. Dane business was going to be going on the fast track but he needed to have a girlfriend to attend different functions so he asked Rika to be his pretend girlfriend. Can they fake it through the new branding of his products.
Delightful office romance!
Rika is assigned by Dane’s new boss to be his personal assistant, and when that boss insists he get a girlfriend to support his public image, he figures that Rika is better suited for that assignment and gets her another job, and him another assistant, so they’re free to embark on their public romance.
The story moves a bit predictably from there, with a bit of a surprise ending that I wasn’t expecting (but was totally happy with). A few spots seemed to move a little fast, especially considering the characters’ history, but overall this was a sweet and steamy office romp with a side of fake-dating that turns real very quickly.
Their HEA wraps up the series very nicely for all three brothers, their women, and their careers. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Dane is a successful business man who is totally tongue tied around Rika, his new assistant. Their chemistry is immediate. When Dane’s boss tells him to get a girl, Rika is asked to be a “fake” girlfriend. She accepts and they find that it feels more real than fake.
I’m on the fence about this story. I generally like Anna Durand – she writes well plotted books that usually have well developed characters. This, being a short novella, lacked that and I felt that the story suffered for it. I didn’t particularly “feel” the situation. I thought it felt rushed and I think the story would have benefited from a more complete understanding of the situation, which felt manufactured, the relationship, which felt rushed and the story, which felt implausible. Still it was a fast and easy read and sometimes that’s all I need — a few minutes to get through a story when I’m rushed but need a book-break.
Dane is a handsome British mechanical engineer who designed sex toys but was uptight around women. When his company was bought out he went to work at the new company and Rika became his PA. He thought Rika was sexy but he became tongue-tied whenever he spoke to her and she found him handsome and had a crush on him. His new boss told him he was being reclusive and working too much and he needed a girlfriend for publicity. Dane asked Rika to be his fake girlfriend and she agreed knowing it would be hard to pretend since she had a crush on him. Would Dane be able to forget previous sex partner’s comments and finally connect with Rika? Would their pretend relationship become real?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was hard to put down, I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. The author did a great job developing the characters so you could feel all of their emotions. This book was fun to read and I can’t wait to read more Anna Durand stories!
