Six gentlemen head to the Lake District, after one of them inherits a haunted castle, with the purpose of hosting a Samhain masquerade party. After a local girl goes missing, they find themselves immersed in witchcraft and one ghostly tale after another as a number of them stumble upon their true loves amongst the backdrop of one very haunted castle.
It is an okay book
This book wasn’t what I had expected. I was very entertaining.
Not quite believable due to the number of conventions relating to the period that were circumvented. However, these made for a nice, engaging read.
didn’t finish it as I was not enjoying it.
Not really what I was expecting but a great read.
really dissaponted….
I read this book during Halloween week. Very appropriate. Cute book. Kept you interested with 3 different couples.
I loved this story and these characters!
Great collaboration!
It was a book for a lazy day read. It was entertaining, had a romance for more than one character and a spooky story line. Though the characters were quickly in love, it was charmingly told and touched the right chord in the telling. Not a deep book, but a fun read for a relaxing day and a happy ending.
A good book to read during the Halloween season
did not think Id like a book about haunting but I loved it and could not put it down!
This was an interesting approach, intermingling three stories by three authors into a unified whole. Editing was inconsistent, with frequent malapropisms — inappropriate use of otherwise good words. And some grammatical gaffes, but not by all the writers. I also found it hard to jump from one POV character to another in the next section— difficult to keep them straight. But overall a good story and an innovative approach.
Really enjoyed
Very entertaining and an easy read.
Enjoyed the perceptions of ghosts and spirits as described for that era – also interesting historical view of witches…
Book was a little confusing at the beginning because a ton of characters were introduced with each having a little back story. Eventually, I was able to follow the character changes that were made by the author. Most of the book was entertaining, but towards the end it was a little bit far-fetched. I would consider this more of a Gothic romance.
Obviously the book is set in a haunted castle, and of course features ghosts and witches. The story culminates on October 31, and involves trying to return a missing woman to her intended. The plot is good, but because it involves three couples and three more male friends things are sometimes confusing as to who is who. There is plenty of action, romance, and mystery to keep the readers attention.
I got tired of so much witch activity toward the end. Otherwise, it was a fun read.
I loved all 3 stories and can’t wait to see what kind of endings their friends get! The only worry I have is for the spirits left at the castle! (Especially a young lady named Blythe!)
