I have nothing to offer a woman like Cora. Not what she deserves, yet . . . I want her anyway.I never expected to meet the woman of my dreams in a coffee shop. Especially when she’s a famous Hollywood actress and I’m nothing but an overworked, underpaid barista. Only I already have someone special—my son. Providing for him and getting through college are my top priorities. Dating while juggling … priorities. Dating while juggling single fatherhood isn’t.
Cora Bentley deserves a partner who can offer her the world. But the heart wants what it wants, and mine won’t stop beating for hers.
I should walk away. It’s what’s best, even if she won’t admit it. But I can’t bring myself to do so. Not when she’s everything I could ever want.
Not when she could be our one good thing.

I don’t give 5 stars very often, but this one deserved it! I really enjoyed the relationship between Cora and Isaac. They are both adults, don’t play games usually depicted in romance books. This book is filled with emotional issues that will touch your heart, angst that will excite you and steaminess that is unforgettable. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end! I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
This was a fun and flirty opposites attract romance that I really enjoyed. It was a sweet and heartwarming read that was the perfect remedy to pick me up out of the book funk I’ve recently been in. As always with Kacey Shea this was extremely well written and captivating with relatable honest characters. I loved it!!
I don’t even know where to begin writing this review, without spoiling it for other readers. All I know is that One Good Thing has SO much more than one good thing to say about it. This story was so beautifully written and it truly gave me all the feels. I had to hold back the tears for about half the story because it just touched my heart in ways I can’t even explain. The struggles Isaac faced with his son just broke my heart, but I loved that he had Cora by his side, who fully understood everything he was going through. He tried pushing her away, but she stood her ground and showed him that he didn’t need to go through it alone. So much emotion and passion and chemistry between them……and I just adored the love story that Kacey Shea wrote for them, and they are now on the list of my all-time favorite book couples.
One Good Thing is easily is of my favorites of 2020 and one story that I know I won’t ever forget.
Kacey Shea shines a bright light on the world of single parenting, all of its heartbreak, and love, fears and joys!
I am absolutely in LOVE with Isaac, lord save me from kindhearted Mexican-American Daddy’s in love with their kids. He is just the best thing ever, and Kacey’s representation of his struggle to be everything to his child, all while battling exhaustion, working too much, and fighting to make it through school is gut wrenching.
There were a few times I was overcome with really hard tears, reading his emotional pain as Isaac worried about all the things he was getting wrong. Seeing his pride, and that overwhelming sense of failure is so hard, but he is such a beautiful, sweet man in spite of all of it.
Cora is truly almost like Glenda the Good, if she’s been hurt one too many times and built a low wall that she keeps tripping over. A brilliant, fierce soul with a heart of gold I was worried she wouldn’t get out of her own way to make this truly special story work, but Kacey Shea won’t steer you wrong. Settle in for a sweet, steamy 5 star gem!
Read in one sitting. A beautiful and original story, Isaac and Cora are perfection!
The story was amazing, I loved Issac and Cora and how they showed us what it is to have someone with special needs. The relationships with their families were nice to read too and how they supported each other.
Isaac was sweet and caring and I loved his moments with David, he was an amazing dad trying to be perfect for his son.
Cora was the best though, despite being famous she treated everyone the same way and I really enjoyed her moments with Isaac and how she never gave up o them.
This book was very informative and easy to read, the characters were amazing and I’m glad people can read a little and understand more about autism.
4.5 Stars –
I love a Single Dad and Isaac has got to be one of the BEST I have read. He just turned his world upside down for a baby he never knew and the way he takes care of David just made my heart melt. The support system he has….superb. Cora was down-to-earth as they come, considering she was an actress. I loved that she drove herself everywhere and even picked up a few friends in their cameo role…I miss those Three Ugly Guys! The slow-burn in this one made for a good story, the ways in which Isaac and Cora could talk and have fun was natural and the way Cora took to David was sweet. This one just goes to show you no one is perfect, no relationship is perfect, but with the right person, the right sources and the right attitude you can make it your own kind of perfect…
One Good Thing is probably the most heartfelt, beautifully written book of 2020 for me! The characters are nothing but spectacular! Each bring something special to this story, showing vulnerability, compassion, strength and the ability to let those around them know they love unconditionally. The storyline is sweet, loving, and had all the feels for me! Amazing
I love when a book takes the opportunity to educate it’s readers on issues without forcing the issue and still keeping the book focused on the characters and story at hand.
And really who doesn’t want a hot, tattooed, coffee making man to swoon after you? I know I’d like one. Especially if he’s going to let you help clean up when he accidentally floods the kitchen. Wait till you read how much fun they have getting wet.
Isaac and Cora are fantastic characters their personalities are written to perfectly balance each other. And their similarities are the glue. The honesty they share with each other is the best. There really is no drama as far as the relationship goes which I really enjoyed.
Cora also has a great sense of self worth, which I truly appreciated. She really has to dig deep within herself to decide where her heart belongs will she choose Isaac and Davrd the silent son who’s stole her heart along with his daddy. Or will her sky rocketing career keep her reaching for the stars?
Isaac’s family, Cora’s family and even her friends all the secondary characters were great as well, I’m more then curious about a certain firefighter and a sister. But it sounds like there may be more books in the future. So tell then.
I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
Cora & Isaac… GAH! I LOVED these two and their story What an uncomplicated (zero unnecessary drama), honest & emotional read. These two and their journey began with their chemistry and attraction but evolved into something so beautiful, emotional & real. Kacey Shea once again delivers a read that I simply couldn’t put down. One Good Thing is a definite MUST READ!
“What we have transcends. It’s one of a kind. And I’ll be damned if I walk away from us.”
One Good Thing was a story that had you enveloped in the arms of the characters. Isaac and Cora’s story is an opposites attract romance that is full of chemistry that radiates through the words. An attraction that builds from desire to something of the heart. Their story is passionate, emotional, sexy, endearing and one that has you head over heels in love with these two. It wasn’t just one good thing that had me in love with this book, it was so many amazing things that had me captivated and gripped by their journey to a happily ever after that they both deserved.
I have read several of author Kacey Shae’s books…but this one hit with me so many feels and I could possibly say this is my favorite of hers! From the incredibly developed and written characters, to the somewhat different storyline, to the swoony feels from single dad Isaac, to Cora who was a mature and wonderful character.
This is an older woman/younger man, single-dad romance. I loved the way they met and where their lives were when they met. I just really loved this one and would absolutely recommend it! 5 stars!
*****
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent!!!!
This book made my Romantic heart very happy.
A wonderful, beautiful and heartfelt story that I loved completely.
Isaac is so swoon worthy and I melted into a puddle at his feet, a struggling single father whose relationship with his son is so lovely to read about. He is hot, sexy and sweet all at the same time and set my pulse racing Isaac is a dream.
Cora is an actress fiery and strong and is totally opposite to Isaac, she is also kind and caring and is a lovely person…they are perfect for eachother although Isaac doesn’t feel like he is in her league they find themselves developing a relationship.
It was such a joy to read this story it had minimum angst and there was no games it just flowed into a charming romance with lots of feeling and emotion.
I cannot praise Kacey Shea enough for writing this captivating 5 star book.
I highly recommend it
I loved this story. The characters are deep, down to earth, real. Cora and Isaac compliment each other perfectly. Their story wasn’t rushed,it was a slow build, but powerful. The love they share for David is truly beautiful. I loved everything about this story! I would love to read more, see how David progresses.
This is a beautiful love story that left me feeling so happy. I liked how Cora and Isaac met it was just so sweet and normal. Isaac has to be one of my favourite heroes I’ve read in some time. He is a humble strong hardworking single dad. I loved the way their relationship was written, it showcased perfectly the complexities of what Isaac and his son have to face. Cora is a famous actress but she is written to feel like she could be your friend or the girl next door and I liked that she didn’t expect everyone to fall at her feet. This was a story where the drama was centered around the main characters and not outside influences. This was a well written easy to read story with believable characters.
This book completely melted my heart and left me swooning. I thought this book was really special. I loved this book so much and honestly felt it was perfection. I seriously want to applaud this author for creating such genuine and unique characters and a fitting and beautiful story to showcase them in. If you are the type of reader that is always searching for books that have both feet planted firmly in reality, yet still manage to give you a colossal case of the feels, trust me you need to grab this book right now!! Isaac and Cora were both exceeding lovable but in my opinion Isaac was really in a league all his own in the realm of book boyfriends. He stole my heart so easily. I think it is very, very rare to see a hero that is portrayed with such honesty. He is a great guy but a incredibly normal one. He’s not rich and he has to work too hard. He’s a stressed-out single dad desperately trying to do what’s best for his son, while making big sacrifices along the way. I felt his inner turmoil doubts and anxiety brutally honest and absolutely, one hundred percent relatable. The romance will have you swooning, the drama will make your heart ache and the awesomeness will just blow you away. So much more I’d love to say but I do not want to give spoilers. I will say this though, buy it now you will not be sorry!! This is my sincere, freely posted review.
What a heartwarming story this was! 4.5 stars for me.
This was the story of single dad Isaac Ortiz and movie star Cora Bentley. A refreshing story where the heroine appears to have everything a woman could want out of life, and a man who is desperate for more, but is clinging to hope that he can have just one good thing in his life. So far, that thing has been his three year old son David.
When Cora meets the sexy young barista named Isaac, she feels an incredible attraction to him and goes into the shop where he works several times a week to get her Isaac fix. The two have explosive chemistry, and seem to connect on every level. They genuinely like one another, but Isaac doesn’t see their relationship extending passed the obvious chemistry they share and the few impulsive minutes they managed to seize at the back of the shop. Fate however, has other plans.
Isaac is unforgettable book boyfriend material if you wanna read about a REAL MAN. This guy steps up on every level to do the right thing by his son and those he loves. He is a struggling artist, barista by night, single dad, and student. Every thing Isaac does is to provide a better life for his son David, who has some developmental challenges. As far as Isaac is concerned, he and Cora don’t stand a chance in the long-term romance sector. There is no way that this stunning Hollywood beauty queen could ever relate to what is going on in his life….but she does. Cora was not only perfect for Isaac, but also for David. She fit into their lives like the missing puzzle piece that Isaac didn’t even consider looking for! GAH….I so admired the way Cora interacted with this sweet little boy. It broke my heart at times and had my cup running over with emotion.
One of my favorite aspects of this book, was the unexpected twist on typical romance setups. In this case, Cora is clearly the bigger breadwinner, coaxing the hero to pursue his dreams throughout the book. She is his biggest fan, always recognizing his talent and pushing him to share it with the world. There was nothing pretentious about Cora at all….her character gave me serious Julia Roberts in Notting Hill vibes!! So down to Earth.
In addition, Cora was nine years older than Isaac. This was a refreshing change from the usual pathway. I liked that this was simply referred to as fact, but it wasn’t portrayed as some huge obstacle by anyone in this story. An older woman can have a relationship with a younger man, and both can be happy, period. It’s not a cougar situation, they just clicked. End. Of.
I liked that!
This book also focused heavily on family. Both Cora’s and Isaac’s families are frequently a part of the progression of this story. This gave the story such a well developed, full, rich, and meaningful feel to it. SO MANY FEELS! I honestly, cannot wait to see if KS will bless us with books about Becca and Marlena. PLEASE!!!!
Overall, this was a terrific, low-angst, low-drama, emotional, feel good romance that is sure to make anyone swoon, smile and giggle. It’s the perfect way to warm up on a crisp Fall day and cast your cares away. I really enjoyed it and feel that most anyone would too. Highly recommend!
I really, really enjoyed One Good Thing. I loved that it didn’t follow the usual recipe for a romance book, the one where’s the guy is older and the bread winner. I also enjoyed that the connection grew from their late night meetings into something more.I liked that Cora was more mature and pretty much knew what she wanted. She was a great character but I absolutely loved Issac! He was so supportive and what everyone looks for in a guy. I also enjoyed David’s character and my heart broke for him during that one scene. I don’t want to give too much away so I won’t say any more on that. The whole story was very interesting and held my attention. Pretty mild on the drama but still very engrossing.I’ve always enjoyed Kacey Shea’s books and this one was just as amazing! It was very well written and I highly recommend it.
Voluntary review of an ARC
This one gets one of my rare 6 star ratings It was quite simply perfect. A 2020 Top Read for me. The kind of book I skip dinner for & completely fall in love with.
It’s character driven, zero unnecessary drama, relevant, heartfelt yet sexy AF, and has a hero who’s an actual MAN with all capitals. He’s got everything I want in a romance hero. Every box is ticked. More than once.
You know those books you read and they remind you what unicorns authors are. Well this is one of those books. Happy sigh…. Please trust me & read this book.
I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
This is the first book by Kacey that I have read. I’m so happy I did as I found that I loved her writing style.
One Good Thing is such a heartwarming story. It was an opposites attract, single dad romance which was so full of emotion with wonderful strong characters.
Cora Bentley, a famous Hollywood actress, was strong and sassy with a huge heart. Isaac Ortiz, a struggling single dad, college student, and part time barista, and a hot hunk. I loved how Cora and Isaac interacted with each other in the coffee shop originally and the empathy that Cora showed throughout the book. I found the story with Isaac’s son inspiring. It was so believable and the struggle that Isaac had in being dad a few years after his birth was too. This story gives you all the feels, and there’s even a bonus epilogue to download after you’ve finished!
