I have nothing to offer a woman like Cora. Not what she deserves, yet . . . I want her anyway.I never expected to meet the woman of my dreams in a coffee shop. Especially when she’s a famous Hollywood actress and I’m nothing but an overworked, underpaid barista. Only I already have someone special—my son. Providing for him and getting through college are my top priorities. Dating while juggling … priorities. Dating while juggling single fatherhood isn’t.
Cora Bentley deserves a partner who can offer her the world. But the heart wants what it wants, and mine won’t stop beating for hers.
I should walk away. It’s what’s best, even if she won’t admit it. But I can’t bring myself to do so. Not when she’s everything I could ever want.
Not when she could be our one good thing.
One Good Thing is a single dad, opposites attract, stand-alone contemporary romance by USA Today bestselling author Kacey Shea.

One Good Thing is a standalone story, but I enjoyed the interspersing of 3 Ugly Guys from the Off Track Records Series! I liked the diversity of the characters and the familia love and support that both Cora and Isaac have. I really liked Cora and Isaac, how they met and how they connected! But it was how they made it work, against the odds that really drew me in. I also appreciate the disorder that is involved in the story. A disorder that effects many families on a daily basis. I just really enjoyed the overall story. If I was to describe One Good Thing in one word, it would be “encouragement”.
Audiobook review:
Cora and Isaac! Love their sweet story, loved how real it felt. This was just a great honest to goodness romance, full of normal real life issues, very believable. This was my first audiobook narrated by Tim Paige and I was not disappointed- he did a terrific job bringing Isaac to life. Both Lessa Lamb and Tim Page gave a performance full of emotion, nice range of character voices for both narrators.
I gotta be honest when Cora was first introduced in Trent’s book, I didn’t like her. I thought she was just the typical sleazy girl that hooked up with all the guys. But I definitely changed my mind about her in Sean’s book and I was sooo glad when Kacey announced that Cora was the h in One Good Thing. Issac was everything in this book and seriously brought out the best in Cora!!! They were perfect together and she was amazing with his son. I loved how both the H & h relationships were with their families too!! Very real struggles and emotions as usual from Mrs. Shea. Another great combo of narrators in this audiobook with Lessa Lamb & Tim Paige
***** AUDIOBOOK REVIEW *****
One Good Thing by Kacey Shae was so darn sweet I had a toothache after listening to the audiobook! I’ll be real, I was seriously smitten with Cora! Like if Isaac didn’t scoop her up, I might have! I wondered about Cora during the TUG books. She seemed to have this happy-go-lucky outlook and I needed to know if it was a front. While she still had some of that vibe during One Good Thing, it definitely wasn’t all to her. Cora wears her heart on her sleeve. She loves wildly and almost with a reckless abandon.
Isaac was a bit tougher for me to click with. I went back and forth with him really. I think I wanted more interaction with that boy of his… something to show that he’s worked on a special bond with him. I didn’t feel that bond, for the most part. I did, however, connect with Isaac. I feel for him and how stretched he was. I get the money issues and it all broke my heart. Anyways, Kacey Shae writes a story that will touch your heart. It’s a deeply layered story and has elements that feel so real, it just hits you.
The narration by Lessa Lamb and Tim Paige did a good job. These characters has some steamy scenes and the narrators definitely brought a strong sexual vibe to the story. Lamb always has such a sensual sounding voice. Paige was a fantastic opposite for her. A nice gruff and strong sounding man.
What a sweet, emotional, and steamy romance! It is a beautifully written story about two people from different worlds who have more in common than meets the eye. I was pretty excited to read more about Cora after getting to meet her a little in the Off the Tracks series. Cora Bentley is an actress and is tired of the superficial connections she has had. She enjoys her late night conversations with a sexy barista, Isaac who works several jobs, goes to school, all while raising his young son, alone. His life is complicated and he isn’t sure he deserves someone as successful as Cora. But Cora is determined to prove to Isaac that she understands his life more than he knows. She will prove to him that he can have it all and that she wants both him and his son in her life. I loved Cora and Isaac’s journey as they realized their deep connection and how their very different lives could work together. This beautiful and poignant story touched on some emotional topics with honesty and empathy. Narrators Tim Paige, and Lessa Lamb were wonderful at portray each character with a perfect balance between fun & flirty, heartbreaking emotion, and sizzling passion flawlessly. They work so well together, conveying so much emotion in their performances, that they make this heartwarming and emotionally captivating story even better!
One Good Thing (Audiobook) by Kacey Shea, Narrated by Tim Paige and Lessa Lamb
Shea blows the heart wide open with a vengeance. One Good Thing has it all. Cora and Isaac reel you in by the heartstrings and refuse to loosen their hold. With saucy dialogue, irresistible characters and captivating delivery, One Good Thing has addictive written all over it.
Well not sure what happened to my last review as it was not saved. I just realized this when I went to go review it again and saw it was missing, so here I go again.
I have to say I was hooked from the start. It was such a nice story of a single father raising his son but also trying to find out why he was not hitting the milestones other kids his age were. Sometimes an outside source is the best one to see what you may be missing. Cora was a sweetheart in Hollywood. Not your typical diva and was always trying to achieve the best that she could. With both of their work ethics is one of the reason I adored these 2.
This is an age gap romance and not everyone like that genre but I love to give all books a chance and I hope you will with this one.
Kacey Shea at her best! Fun, flirty, steamy and the best heroes. This is the book you need right now.
Cora and Isaac charmed me in a way that had me smiling the whole time I read.
First they hit you with the BAM steamy and then they drag you out with the tension you are like oh come on! They are both such real people and seeing them work through their struggles together only makes you root for them more!
It was completely different from everything I have read recently. And I loved it! Age gap, older women/younger man, actress/bartender, single dad and nonverbal child. Imagine how complicated this story is. As a parent, I feel that the child is the most important (and I would do anything to make him safe and happy). Isaac is a wonderful father and I love him. For all that he does for his son. He gave up his dreams and is ready to give up his beloved woman. It’s good that he found a woman who knows what she wants and doesn’t give up.
One Good Thing is a beautiful story which proves that love transcends barriers.
Fair notice that I have been waiting anxiously for this book because I loved Cora from the 3 Ugly Guys books and I was so happy to receive a copy of the audiobook upon request. And this book celebrated her wonderful spirit and heart. I love when books have such amazing characters that I wish they were real so I could be friends with them. And Kacey Shea paired Cora with the perfect man for her- Issac, a barista, jack of many trades and single father is a sweetheart but one who is juggling so much, he’s at his wit’s end. They were wonderfully sweet together but had amazing chemistry and their relationship unfurled in a real way- the author showcased many of the obstacles I feel they may realistically have had to deal with given her superstar status and his home issues. I smiled for most of the book, teared up during a few chapters, and swooned for much of the book. The supporting cast, including some of my favorites from the Off-Track Records series, was great and overall, I know I’ll be rereading/relistening to this book again.
Tim Paige and Lessa Lamb narrated the audiobook and they were fantastic. Both had the perfect voices for the characters and they were able to play multiple characters flawlessly and infuse emotion consistent with the story. I really loved their narration, which further elevated an excellent story.
One Good Thing by Kacey Shea touched my heart so deeply. This sexy and emotional love story has some amazing characters and brilliant story telling. Kacey Shea hit me with all the feels.
Cora is a famous Hollywood actor. Her life is all about busy schedules, press and fame. And her place to unwind is the cafe with the gorgeous barista, Isaac. His life is exactly opposite of Cora’s. He is struggling to balance his family, his job, his studies and his finances. And his three year old son David needs extra care and support. But they feel this intense connection and undeniable chemistry. Can they make it work against all odds?
I admire Cora so much. She is not a diva at all. She is hard working, kind, compassionate and has the biggest heart ever. She doesn’t judge Isaac’s circumstances. She sees the man behind the struggle. And she loves and supports him unconditionally without pitying him. Isaac is a real good man. Life is putting only difficulties and obstacles in his way. But he is determined to beat them all. He is a very simple and real character who sometimes breaks down under pressure, suffers from insecurity and sometimes feel lost. But he holds so much strength and resilience inside. My heart is gone for this man. They have this insane chemistry that’s just too hot to handle. They also complete each other and my heart went “swooooon” so many times. This was an emotional journey with ups and downs, tension and laughter, heartbreak and happily ever after.
One Good Thing by Kacey Shea is a heartaching story of finding love in middle of chaos. The author brought out the emotions beautifully.
