Watch out, world. Here comes Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter with attitude. In Stephanie’s opinion, toxic waste, rabid drivers, armed schizophrenics, and August heat, humidity, and hydrocarbons are all part of the great adventure of living in Jersey. She’s a product of the “burg,” a blue-collar pocket of Trenton where houses are attached and narrow, cars are American, windows are clean, and (God … clean, and (God forbid you should be late) dinner is served at six.
Now Stephanie’s all grown up and out on her own, living five miles from Mom and Dad’s, doing her best to sever the world’s longest umbilical cord. Her mother is a meddler, and her grandmother is a few cans short of a case.
Out of work and out of money, with her Miata repossessed and her refrigerator empty, Stephanie blackmails her bail bondsman cousin, Vinnie, into giving her a try as an apprehension agent. Stephanie knows zilch about the job requirements, but she figures her new pal, fearless bounty hunter Ranger, can teach her what it takes to catch a crook.
Her first assignment: nail Joe Morelli, a former vice cop on the run from a charge of murder one. Morelli is also the irresistible macho pig who took Stephanie’s virginity at age sixteen and then wrote the details on the bathroom wall of Mario’s Sub Shop. There’s still powerful chemistry between these two, so the chase should be interesting.
It could also be extremely dangerous, especially when Stephanie encounters a heavyweight title contender who likes to play rough. Benito Ramirez is known for his brutality to women. At the very least, his obsession with Stephanie complicates her manhunt and brings terror and uncertainty into her life. At worst, it could lead to murder.
Witty, fresh, and full of surprises, One for the Money is among the most eagerly awaited crime novels of the season.

Great book
I love the whole number series by Janet Evonavich. Stephanie and her family are delightful, funny characters, and her sidekick Lula is a hoot. The only thing is that once you start reading her books, you cannot put them down.. I envy those who get to read number one through her current 26. I have read them all and enjoyed every page!
This is definitely an older book in her series because I think she’s up to 18 or 19 at this point. But always hysterical stories. The stories always including detective stories where in the beginning (of the series) she works for her uncle in a bond’s office. Excellent read, quick read, and always fun.
The best of the series.
Like all her books love Stephanie Plum
Anything by Janet Evanovich is a good read in my book. No, they aren’t deep works of literature but they are fun and always have me laughing. And when I finish the latest I’m already looking forward to the next.
I’ve read all of Janet Evanovitch’s series from One For The Money all the way to her 24th book in the series. The story about a girl working as a bond agent and balancing a romantic liaison between her detective boy friend and “Ranger” and mysterious man who bails her out when she gets in over her head as she often does. Light, easy reading, with interesting characters.
If you want lots of laughs, action, crazy characters and hot men, this is a must read series.
Stephanie Plum is an exciting character..Love her family… would recommend this book to everyone… great writer..
Janet Evanovich is an amazing writer. This book was very funny yet realistic of true life.
When I want to be entertained, I just need a bit of Plum and my mood improves.
Funny and draws you into the adventure
Just love this series. An easy read. It’s a good series to read when you just want a fast read and a warm feeling from it.
love her writing
Book one of a terrific series. Good read that keeps you interested.
Love this series of books. Laugh out loud funny!
These books are so much fun! This first one is darker than any of the rest of the series, but still worth reading.
I listened to the audiobook of this, narrated by C.J. Critt. It was, in short, incredible. Critt makes Evanovich’s prose sing, imbuing each character with a distinctive voice. Her voice for the villain in the novel was downright creepy. She injects just the right amount of humor, making her the perfect narrator for Stephanie Plum.
Another great series that will keep you laughing
Janet Evanovich is one of the funniest author currently producing books
