Watch out, world. Here comes Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter with attitude. In Stephanie’s opinion, toxic waste, rabid drivers, armed schizophrenics, and August heat, humidity, and hydrocarbons are all part of the great adventure of living in Jersey. She’s a product of the “burg,” a blue-collar pocket of Trenton where houses are attached and narrow, cars are American, windows are clean, and (God … clean, and (God forbid you should be late) dinner is served at six.
Now Stephanie’s all grown up and out on her own, living five miles from Mom and Dad’s, doing her best to sever the world’s longest umbilical cord. Her mother is a meddler, and her grandmother is a few cans short of a case.
Out of work and out of money, with her Miata repossessed and her refrigerator empty, Stephanie blackmails her bail bondsman cousin, Vinnie, into giving her a try as an apprehension agent. Stephanie knows zilch about the job requirements, but she figures her new pal, fearless bounty hunter Ranger, can teach her what it takes to catch a crook.
Her first assignment: nail Joe Morelli, a former vice cop on the run from a charge of murder one. Morelli is also the irresistible macho pig who took Stephanie’s virginity at age sixteen and then wrote the details on the bathroom wall of Mario’s Sub Shop. There’s still powerful chemistry between these two, so the chase should be interesting.
It could also be extremely dangerous, especially when Stephanie encounters a heavyweight title contender who likes to play rough. Benito Ramirez is known for his brutality to women. At the very least, his obsession with Stephanie complicates her manhunt and brings terror and uncertainty into her life. At worst, it could lead to murder.
Witty, fresh, and full of surprises, One for the Money is among the most eagerly awaited crime novels of the season.

I love the Stephanie Plum series because they are so light-hearted. A female bounty hunter who always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. This series is a great palate cleanser after you read a heavy book because they are funny.
Funny, but believable.
I enjoyed the first book in Ms. Evanovich’s # series. The characters are all quirky and funny and therefore get into and out of messes.
Loved this book! I laughed out loud.
Janet Evanovich is one of my favorite authors. Her Stephanie Plum character is endearing. She bungles through her not necessarily chosen career as a bounty hunter and always comes out on top. There is always a couple of laugh out loud parts in every book. Must reads for anyone wanting to be entertained.
I actually enjoyed this book to the point where I have read most of the series.
Miss Plum always brings a laugh. Fun read when you want to escape the world around you for a few minutes.
These Stephanie Plum books are laugh out loud funny. I’ve read them all. The characters are eccentric and entertaining. Crude with lots of sexual innuendo but hysterical.
Fun, quick read with whimsical characters that keep you entertained throughout the read.
So much fun to read! Addictive Evanovich – want something easy and entertaining to read – this entire series is it!
These books are laugh out loud funny. Read them just for that, because that’s the best thing about them. I wouldn’t miss the next installment for anything!
Great read! Love her books!
I have read every book in the series and always hope her next will come out sooner than it does. Love the characters. Read them all.
This is the first Evanovich book I have read. I have read several and have liked them all. I like the characters and something seems to always be happening. Not hard to read at all.
I laughed out loud while reading this book and a few more in this series. Very fun read!
Awesome stories that keep you reading.
If you haven’t read this series you need to. So funny and entertaining. A really good read.
This was a very entertaining funny book. There where moments I was laughing out loud .
Extremely addictive!
Given to me as a joke, I ultimately burned through every book in the series that was available at the time! As an addle-brained single-mom working as parole officer, I could relate to Stephanie and her crazy cohorts. Loved the series & didn’t have to work hard to find those moments of joy!
