Watch out, world. Here comes Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter with attitude. In Stephanie’s opinion, toxic waste, rabid drivers, armed schizophrenics, and August heat, humidity, and hydrocarbons are all part of the great adventure of living in Jersey. She’s a product of the “burg,” a blue-collar pocket of Trenton where houses are attached and narrow, cars are American, windows are clean, and (God … clean, and (God forbid you should be late) dinner is served at six.
Now Stephanie’s all grown up and out on her own, living five miles from Mom and Dad’s, doing her best to sever the world’s longest umbilical cord. Her mother is a meddler, and her grandmother is a few cans short of a case.
Out of work and out of money, with her Miata repossessed and her refrigerator empty, Stephanie blackmails her bail bondsman cousin, Vinnie, into giving her a try as an apprehension agent. Stephanie knows zilch about the job requirements, but she figures her new pal, fearless bounty hunter Ranger, can teach her what it takes to catch a crook.
Her first assignment: nail Joe Morelli, a former vice cop on the run from a charge of murder one. Morelli is also the irresistible macho pig who took Stephanie’s virginity at age sixteen and then wrote the details on the bathroom wall of Mario’s Sub Shop. There’s still powerful chemistry between these two, so the chase should be interesting.
It could also be extremely dangerous, especially when Stephanie encounters a heavyweight title contender who likes to play rough. Benito Ramirez is known for his brutality to women. At the very least, his obsession with Stephanie complicates her manhunt and brings terror and uncertainty into her life. At worst, it could lead to murder.
Witty, fresh, and full of surprises, One for the Money is among the most eagerly awaited crime novels of the season.

Hilarious. Love the Plum series
Fun read as always
All of the characters in this book were great and the banter was just plain awesome. I felt like I couldn’t stop reading because the chapter would end and it always felt like a cliffhanger! This whole series is worthy!
Literally laugh out loud
The characters are sometimes so over the top they are realistic. I love any writer that can combine realism with comedy and make their characters so honest. No one is perfect but they are big in personality and spirit and are noble for the most part. I devour the main characters and I wait with bated breath for each new installment, just to overdose of everything that happens to them. Please keep the good times a coming!
Love any book by Janet Evanovich. Can be embarrassing reading in public due to uncontrollable laughing
This book truly have you laughing out loud. Plenty of books continue this series.
Never laughed so hard! Great read.
Stephanie Plum is my new best friend. Her grandmother is hilarious. Follow this series for lots of great adventure.
First of the Stephanie Plum romps through Trenton and environs. This one has some kneeslapping moments, thanks to Lula and her loose lips. Cheers !!
My favorite author! Every book in this series makes me laugh out loud! You don’t have to read the first book to read the others in the series, but this one DOES help establish all the characters. Definite recommendation!
Have read all the number books and of course it started with number one. Very funny, face paced book. Encourages all friends to read.
If you have not read her books you are really missing out. Do something good for yourself read this series of books. You will laugh out loud. They just keep getting better with each one
Read this book quite a while ago. Loved it so much I’m still reading all of the sequels. It was so easy to picture the characters in my mind that I was disappointed when the movie came out and they weren’t as I pictured them. This was the 1st book in the series and had a few scary, gruesome sections involving a very frightening stalker, but I still wanted to continue the series and was glad I did.
I love this series, a must read
These books (in series) always make me laugh out loud until tears roll down my eyes. Characters are great. Feel good, with a dash of drama, Just fun.
I own all of her books. I buy them as soon as they hit paperbacks. Always entertaining and hilarious. My husband reads them too.
Laugh out load funny! Loved it!
