Watch out, world. Here comes Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter with attitude. In Stephanie’s opinion, toxic waste, rabid drivers, armed schizophrenics, and August heat, humidity, and hydrocarbons are all part of the great adventure of living in Jersey. She’s a product of the “burg,” a blue-collar pocket of Trenton where houses are attached and narrow, cars are American, windows are clean, and (God … clean, and (God forbid you should be late) dinner is served at six.
Now Stephanie’s all grown up and out on her own, living five miles from Mom and Dad’s, doing her best to sever the world’s longest umbilical cord. Her mother is a meddler, and her grandmother is a few cans short of a case.
Out of work and out of money, with her Miata repossessed and her refrigerator empty, Stephanie blackmails her bail bondsman cousin, Vinnie, into giving her a try as an apprehension agent. Stephanie knows zilch about the job requirements, but she figures her new pal, fearless bounty hunter Ranger, can teach her what it takes to catch a crook.
Her first assignment: nail Joe Morelli, a former vice cop on the run from a charge of murder one. Morelli is also the irresistible macho pig who took Stephanie’s virginity at age sixteen and then wrote the details on the bathroom wall of Mario’s Sub Shop. There’s still powerful chemistry between these two, so the chase should be interesting.
It could also be extremely dangerous, especially when Stephanie encounters a heavyweight title contender who likes to play rough. Benito Ramirez is known for his brutality to women. At the very least, his obsession with Stephanie complicates her manhunt and brings terror and uncertainty into her life. At worst, it could lead to murder.
Witty, fresh, and full of surprises, One for the Money is among the most eagerly awaited crime novels of the season.

Janet Evanovich will keep you in laughters. Book after book, you will never be bored. Soon you will be daydreaming for either Joe or Ranger. Stephanie Plum is one lucky gal. Grandma Mazur is sure worth a bottle of Jack Daniels.
Very funny take on bounty hunting.. It seems to me that these histerical situations are more likely than the usual action packed glamorous way they usually portray them.
Once you read this book you can’t wait to read more on this series.
Laugh out loud funny. One of the first ones I bought more for the laughs and less for the mystery/crime story. P.S. Beware of Grandma.
This is the only book I have read by this author. It was very good. I would read more of this series, but I have too many others on the list.
Oh, this is such a treat!

Stephanie Plum, a recurring character in the novels, is a bounty hunter who often finds herself in a pickle requiring the help of her off and on police officer boyfriend, Joe, and Ranger, the super sexy security agent.
You can always count on Evonovich to be entertaining,I have read most of herbooks
One of the few authors that makes me laugh out loud. The characters are just so much fun and I GET them. I’ve read many more since reading this first book.

You will fall in love with the characters!
For anyone with a funny bone! Original, appealing writing. Central character to love. Along with entertaining dialog, there is actually a story line to absolve it from fluff.
Laugh out loud funny
This is a really good book to read when you have free time. All of her books are really good and when you have nothing else to read, i think you should read this book
This book begins the series of mysteries about the exploits of a young woman detective. Set in the 80’s, its a bit timeworn now but still enjoyable.
One of my favorite books – original interesting life like characters
Love grandma mansur
