Watch out, world. Here comes Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter with attitude. In Stephanie’s opinion, toxic waste, rabid drivers, armed schizophrenics, and August heat, humidity, and hydrocarbons are all part of the great adventure of living in Jersey. She’s a product of the “burg,” a blue-collar pocket of Trenton where houses are attached and narrow, cars are American, windows are clean, and (God … clean, and (God forbid you should be late) dinner is served at six.
Now Stephanie’s all grown up and out on her own, living five miles from Mom and Dad’s, doing her best to sever the world’s longest umbilical cord. Her mother is a meddler, and her grandmother is a few cans short of a case.
Out of work and out of money, with her Miata repossessed and her refrigerator empty, Stephanie blackmails her bail bondsman cousin, Vinnie, into giving her a try as an apprehension agent. Stephanie knows zilch about the job requirements, but she figures her new pal, fearless bounty hunter Ranger, can teach her what it takes to catch a crook.
Her first assignment: nail Joe Morelli, a former vice cop on the run from a charge of murder one. Morelli is also the irresistible macho pig who took Stephanie’s virginity at age sixteen and then wrote the details on the bathroom wall of Mario’s Sub Shop. There’s still powerful chemistry between these two, so the chase should be interesting.
It could also be extremely dangerous, especially when Stephanie encounters a heavyweight title contender who likes to play rough. Benito Ramirez is known for his brutality to women. At the very least, his obsession with Stephanie complicates her manhunt and brings terror and uncertainty into her life. At worst, it could lead to murder.
Witty, fresh, and full of surprises, One for the Money is among the most eagerly awaited crime novels of the season.

Evanovich is always an enjoyable, fun read. Great for getting away from it all for a while. A little romance, a little intrigue, great characters.
Just a fun, beach reading type of series.
A great read! Once started couldn’t put down and got me hooked on her series!
Funny series.
This book got me really excited to read the rest of the series!
I became interested in the characters and story line quickly and found it hard to put down.
Imagining some of the situations Stephanie Plum gets herself into makes me laugh aloud!
A little dated now, but still funny and entertaininng
Love all her books
Should have kept it up after #4.
Awesome book!
Long time since I read this book, but i really enjoy Stephanie Plum and her bumbling side-kick, mixed up love life and crazy family. Really wish they would turn Janet Evonoviche’s Stephanie Plum series into a fun TV series. Something to laugh with, instead of worrying about the dangers and sick people around us.
The first in a fun series. Always good for a few laughs
After reading this book, I was hooked. I read all of the books that followed and couldn’t wait for the next one to come out. The characters are so vibrant and easy to vision in my imagination. There is a lot of humor in her writing-some of it laugh out loud humor! Loved this book!!
The beginning of a most wonderful series following a delightful main character through so many adventures. So well written, I can see these people and hear them in my mind as I read it. I highly recommend any of Evanovich’s books.
I have read her whole series! Can’t wait till the next one comes out. JUST LOVE GRANDMA especially when she goes to funerals! She helps calm my nerves! Puts you in a whole different world!
I love love love Janet E’s writing! She’s so funny and her characters come alive! These “who dunit” books will keep you reading in one sitting! Another great “beach book” . You must start with 1 ! No this is not some great literary masterpieces or a book that will help you improve yourself, it’s just for fun! Enjoy!
I loved it. Has comedy romance, mystery.
Love Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series. This is the one that started it all. Always a great read.
I loved the book so much I have read most of the series!
Fun and different.
Great starter for the rest of the series; especially, the early books (1-10).
