Watch out, world. Here comes Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter with attitude. In Stephanie’s opinion, toxic waste, rabid drivers, armed schizophrenics, and August heat, humidity, and hydrocarbons are all part of the great adventure of living in Jersey. She’s a product of the “burg,” a blue-collar pocket of Trenton where houses are attached and narrow, cars are American, windows are clean, and (God … clean, and (God forbid you should be late) dinner is served at six.
Now Stephanie’s all grown up and out on her own, living five miles from Mom and Dad’s, doing her best to sever the world’s longest umbilical cord. Her mother is a meddler, and her grandmother is a few cans short of a case.
Out of work and out of money, with her Miata repossessed and her refrigerator empty, Stephanie blackmails her bail bondsman cousin, Vinnie, into giving her a try as an apprehension agent. Stephanie knows zilch about the job requirements, but she figures her new pal, fearless bounty hunter Ranger, can teach her what it takes to catch a crook.
Her first assignment: nail Joe Morelli, a former vice cop on the run from a charge of murder one. Morelli is also the irresistible macho pig who took Stephanie’s virginity at age sixteen and then wrote the details on the bathroom wall of Mario’s Sub Shop. There’s still powerful chemistry between these two, so the chase should be interesting.
It could also be extremely dangerous, especially when Stephanie encounters a heavyweight title contender who likes to play rough. Benito Ramirez is known for his brutality to women. At the very least, his obsession with Stephanie complicates her manhunt and brings terror and uncertainty into her life. At worst, it could lead to murder.
Witty, fresh, and full of surprises, One for the Money is among the most eagerly awaited crime novels of the season.

Very funny, exciting and emotional
Love this series!!!
Very funny 1st book in a series about a very inept bounty hunter named Stephanie Plum. She has a hard time catching her clients and keeping them if she catches them. I highly recommend this book.
A very good start to a long list of series books.
The entire Stephanie Plum series is worth reading, I’ve lost countof how many there are now.
Great characters and laughs provided.
Love the characters. The family members are a riot. It’s funny and very lighthearted. It makes you laugh out loud. Believable?maybe not so much all taken together but when you look at the happens individually very plausible.
It’s a great read for the stay home weekend with r not feeling quite up to par.
A great start to a great series. LOVE all the quirky characters
Love this series!
Another great opening to a wonderful series. SOOOO much better than the movie. Once I found this I read the next 11 in the series in 2 weeks. Couldn’t get enough!
One for the Money was my first Janet Evanovich book. I have read and enjoyed all of the Stephanie Plum books since, and have recommended them to friends and relatives. There’s a good mixture of humor and action, with a little romance thrown in. A quick, easy, and fun read.
Janet Evanovich introduces Stephanie Plum, a very confused young woman who lives in New Jersey and is forced to work as a bail bonds apprehension agent for her cousin Vinnie. Characters are absolutely, delightfully funny and stereotypical of the region and time. Plot development is smooth. An excellent, enjoyable read, with the added benefit that there are already appx. 22 more books in the series!
A must-read series. If you’re looking to laugh your butt off and follow Stephanie Plum in her life as a bounty hunter, this is for you. It has romance, hilarious characters, dangerous situations and of course Stephanie is always in the middle. Her grandma too! Oh, and funerals… You have to read and find out why that’s funny. 😉 I own every book up to #12. I wasn’t disappointed. It’s a belly-buster! Highly recommend! Makes me want to go back and read them all again. 🙂
A page Turner. It was a fun quick read.
Loved it, but I wish the bedroom scenes where less informational, leave some things to the imagination
The BEST, absolutely the BEST. Hilariously funny, sizzling, sexy and I’ve got every one of hers from 1 to 21 and intend buying every last one of hers and reading them over and over and over and over. worth the expense. LOVE her LOVE her LOVE stuff.
I have read (and sometimes re-read) the entire Stephanie Plum series. They are all engaging and delightful stories. The characters are engaging and often hilarious, the romance is skillfully underplayed (making you want more steamy details!) and the plots are excellent. I hope there will be more.
The Stephanie Plum books are my all-time favorite for pure laugh out loud entertainment. I read them as fast as they come out to the public!
Laughed out loud! Great characters.
All the characters from Stephanie, Lula, Ranger, Joe & Grandma are fun, interesting & memorable! Her books make me laugh out loud in spots and are hard to put down!
