Watch out, world. Here comes Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter with attitude. In Stephanie’s opinion, toxic waste, rabid drivers, armed schizophrenics, and August heat, humidity, and hydrocarbons are all part of the great adventure of living in Jersey. She’s a product of the “burg,” a blue-collar pocket of Trenton where houses are attached and narrow, cars are American, windows are clean, and (God … clean, and (God forbid you should be late) dinner is served at six.
Now Stephanie’s all grown up and out on her own, living five miles from Mom and Dad’s, doing her best to sever the world’s longest umbilical cord. Her mother is a meddler, and her grandmother is a few cans short of a case.
Out of work and out of money, with her Miata repossessed and her refrigerator empty, Stephanie blackmails her bail bondsman cousin, Vinnie, into giving her a try as an apprehension agent. Stephanie knows zilch about the job requirements, but she figures her new pal, fearless bounty hunter Ranger, can teach her what it takes to catch a crook.
Her first assignment: nail Joe Morelli, a former vice cop on the run from a charge of murder one. Morelli is also the irresistible macho pig who took Stephanie’s virginity at age sixteen and then wrote the details on the bathroom wall of Mario’s Sub Shop. There’s still powerful chemistry between these two, so the chase should be interesting.
It could also be extremely dangerous, especially when Stephanie encounters a heavyweight title contender who likes to play rough. Benito Ramirez is known for his brutality to women. At the very least, his obsession with Stephanie complicates her manhunt and brings terror and uncertainty into her life. At worst, it could lead to murder.
Witty, fresh, and full of surprises, One for the Money is among the most eagerly awaited crime novels of the season.

I read this book a couple of decades ago. It was a fun book to read of her adventures and plights. As I remember the characters, like her grandmother, added to the enjoyment of the book.
I love all of her books. Own them all.
One for the Money is only the beginning. This is such a fun, full of action book. The characters are heart-warming and believable. I have lost track of how many books there are in the series, but I have read up to 15. They just keep getting better and better.
I love this book and these characters! I’ve read most of the books more than once.
I find myself laughing out loud. A stress reducing read.
Laugh so hard I cry and have to wait to continue. You get pretty strange looks when in public and laughing historically. Can’t put it down until finished.
Love all her books! Can’t miss with these books!
Another series of books I love to read! Janet Evanovich is one of them and Stephanie Plum with her many interesting cases keep me watching for when the next book comes out…
Made me an instant fan and drove me to her sequals
Great start to a fun series.
I have read most of her series, love them!
Everyone should enjoy this series!
This book hooks you into the whole series. Such fun and enjoyment, the book just makes me happy. The author puts so much humor into the personalities of the primary characters, you laugh all through it. The characters are believable and you come to develope a true connection with them. We all know people like them. Love the whole series. Definitely a good read when you need a lift and a laugh.
Janet Evanovich’s, Stephani Plum, is a character you’ll never forget. Stephanie’s knack for solving crimes is hysterical.
First of her wonderful series. I read it on a plane and laughed out loud the entire time.
Hilarious bounty hunter, encounters unusual drama while trying to bring her perps to justice. Surrounding herself with wily characters, and crazy family members, every day is a circus and you feel like you’re in the front row of the Big Top watching the tightrope walker. Thoroughly enjoyable, lighthearted fare that I would recommend for a quick read and a belly laugh.
I have read almost all of this Author’s books. What’s not to like about ..all..the great characters and event’s in the life of
Stephanie Plum ..
Anyway..started with this one and will keep reading as long as they are available and the story’s evolve and continue to be as absolutely entertaining as this one..and the ones that have followed.
