Watch out, world. Here comes Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter with attitude. In Stephanie’s opinion, toxic waste, rabid drivers, armed schizophrenics, and August heat, humidity, and hydrocarbons are all part of the great adventure of living in Jersey. She’s a product of the “burg,” a blue-collar pocket of Trenton where houses are attached and narrow, cars are American, windows are clean, and (God … clean, and (God forbid you should be late) dinner is served at six.
Now Stephanie’s all grown up and out on her own, living five miles from Mom and Dad’s, doing her best to sever the world’s longest umbilical cord. Her mother is a meddler, and her grandmother is a few cans short of a case.
Out of work and out of money, with her Miata repossessed and her refrigerator empty, Stephanie blackmails her bail bondsman cousin, Vinnie, into giving her a try as an apprehension agent. Stephanie knows zilch about the job requirements, but she figures her new pal, fearless bounty hunter Ranger, can teach her what it takes to catch a crook.
Her first assignment: nail Joe Morelli, a former vice cop on the run from a charge of murder one. Morelli is also the irresistible macho pig who took Stephanie’s virginity at age sixteen and then wrote the details on the bathroom wall of Mario’s Sub Shop. There’s still powerful chemistry between these two, so the chase should be interesting.
It could also be extremely dangerous, especially when Stephanie encounters a heavyweight title contender who likes to play rough. Benito Ramirez is known for his brutality to women. At the very least, his obsession with Stephanie complicates her manhunt and brings terror and uncertainty into her life. At worst, it could lead to murder.
Witty, fresh, and full of surprises, One for the Money is among the most eagerly awaited crime novels of the season.

Her books are so entertaining and easy to read. I like how the characters are sassy and a bit sarcastic! Her main character is a quicker thinker with human faults and can think on her feet. Fun to read!
Hilarous,laugh out loud
This particular Bounty hunter cannot stay out of trouble. She finds herself in some of the most unbelievable, and funny situations one can only imagine. Easy read.
I have read all of this series and found them quite entertaining.
The first is always the best!
Hilarious!
Love it!!!
Hysterical story line and great characters that are laugh out loud funny!
I read this book and was hooked on the quirky characters! I have read all the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum books. I can’t wait for the next one to come out!
I’ve read them all I loved all of them
This series is lighthearted and fun to read.
Always makes me laugh. Was first referred to this author by a hospice patient who read it for entertainment and it kept her spirits up and gave her something to look forward to.
Laugh out loud. Loved it!
It’s a fun book to read and very entertaining. If you just want to sit and relax and have a little fun, read this book.
My neighbor loaned me this and more of the series 15+ years ago and I have read everything that Janet Evanovich has written since then. So funny and crazy situations the main character gets herself into. I end up laughing out loud a lot of the time.
Hysterical love the characters!
I admit it: Evanovich books are my guilty pleasure. Wouldn’t we all like to be the junk-food-pounding, martial arts, gun-toting, running and jumping Stef Plum? Catching bad guys to boot! Great fun and I’m sorry I’ve read them all.
Best books ever, have read all of them and they are funny, the unexpected happens and just great reads. Don’t start if you have something else to do, most I read in one sitting.
Stephanie Plum ROCKS!!!
One for the Money is the first book in the hilarious Stephanie Plum series. You will laugh out loud at the antics of Stephanie, her pal Lula, Gramma Mazur and more. I have purchased this book for several friends and family members. All loved the book and have continued on in the series. I recommend this book with the warning that you read it at home with the Windows closed to prevent embarrassment, because you WILL laugh out loud.
