A chilling psychological thriller by a million-copy bestselling author.Who really killed Maisie Earnshaw?Within the walls of the high-security psychiatric facility, Crowmont Hospital, reside many violent offenders. To nurse Leah Smith, no matter what, all offenders are patients first and foremost. When Leah is appointed as a nurse to Isabel Fielding, she is determined to remain professional … nurse to Isabel Fielding, she is determined to remain professional despite the shocking crime Isabel allegedly committed in her past.
Years ago, six-year-old Maisie Earnshaw was found face down in a duck pond, her body mutilated. Isabel–at age fourteen, found covered in Maisie’s blood–was convicted of murder.
As Leah spends time with Isabel, she comes to know her as a young woman with a sweet, gentle nature, someone she could never see as a murderer. Leah begins to suspect members of the Fielding family of framing Isabel as a young girl, and she’s not the only one. True crime blogger James Gorden thinks Isabel is innocent too.
Is Leah allowing her own dark past to taint her judgement as she grows closer to her patient? Or has a young woman been unjustly robbed of her childhood?
Praise for the Isabel Fielding series:
“I can’t praise this book enough…it was one of the best books I’ve read this year!”
“Without giving too much away the characters had me fooled! Nothing is what it seems, you need to keep reading … just one more chapter…”
“One For Sorrow is such a fabulously dark and twisted read. I knew from the opening pages it was going to be good but by heck I didn’t forsee the twists and turns as they happened. It’s one of those stories that you will be constantly second-guessing and jumping at conclusions only to be totally wrong.”
“This dark, twisty psychological thriller was totally riveting.”

I loved this book and would definitely recommend it
A lousy read! An improbable Protagonist, an implausible story, and a fantastical ending! Don’t bother reading this book, it will be a sheer waste of your time!
Really enjoyed this book. The twists, turns, and great character development make
It a page turner.
Liked the twist mid way through, never saw it coming.
Story was entertaining but it wasn’t my favorite book. Having more than one killer in the family was too unbelievable.
Excellent thriller. Couldn’t put it down
An excellent, crazy, downright hold on tight read, not for the faint of heart!
I enjoyed the twists and turns of this book.
Ok this book started out a little slow but really got into it as the story went on . I had a hard time putting it down. The only reason I didn’t give it a five is it is a continued book .You don’t get to find out what happens intel the next book . Also since I have not read the second book i’m going to bet there will be about four to read before you finish .
If you love psychological and mind bending books, read this.
Taking place in the countryside, Leah and her brother Tom have moved into an old cottage as she starts her job as a nurse for the criminally insane.
Leah is mourning the loss if her mother, killed by her father and is dealing with feelings of anger and helplessness. Her brother Tom is trying his best to just survive school and adapt to his life without his parents.
Leah is a nurse dealing with three women under lock and key at the hospital. It is ways out and away from other buildings with lots of security. Lots of atmosphere and creepiness between the hospital and Leah’s small cottage.
Leah becomes obsessed with Isobel Fielding, a girl convicted of murdering a younger girl and mutilating the body while the parents chatted and had drinks. Isobel relies on Leah as her nurse and friend and draws beautiful pictures of birds. At the cottage, lacking friends, Leah drinks wine and reads up on the murder case.
I became concerned when Leah invited herself to Isobel’s parents home and that was quite shocking. Her sleepwalking intensifies as does her need to believe Isobel is innocent and perhaps the brother, Owen, committed the crime. She even contacts James, a man investigating and sending out his views for everyone to read.
It is after an incident that the walls start crumbling down on reality for Leah and puts herself and Tom in danger. The violence is a bit graphic but not over the top and still did not creep me out as much as meeting Isobel’s family.
The mind is a fragile thing and can handle only so much and Leah has been overwhelmed. All the clues are there, if you go back and reread certain things.
The ending is scary and realized too late that it continues into book two and maybe three….I wanted a complete resolution. Seb, quiet, shy, and heroic, is Leah’s link to other people and becomes her protector. It didn’t end as I hoped but for people looking for a series, this is a good one. Lots of information on the mind and stress and the way loss can affect one.
The tension increases with each chapter and leaves you on edge, awaiting qhat will happen next. Don’t read this late at night! 4.8 stars….make a great movie with all the twists and turns.
Really interesting story line. Starts off a little slow and vague but it picks up to high gear!
Some unexpected twists but a little slow on action.
When I realized that the next book in the series was going to be about Isabel ( the child murderer) also, I quit reading the first one because I don’t like books where the murderer isn’t caught and dealt with. The main character also bothered me because as a nurse I thought she should have herself more together rather than having nervous breakdowns through the whole story.
Excellent series loved this book started number 2 as soon as I finished it.
This is a pretty good cat and mouse style book…it kept me wanting more.
Excellent read!!
Tearjerker

Could not put it down. Great read.
