The mind is a battlefield where wars rage on for years. Secrets never stay buried, lies are exposed and fears live on. This certainly is true for Blake and Taylor. A choice made when they were teenagers produced years of pain and consequences. A child thinks his dad is dead. The dad thinks his son was miscarried. The mother lied out of fear that their child would be ripped away, put up for adoption, if she didn’t lie.
This is a heartfelt story about living with the ramifications of that one fateful choice made years earlier. It’s a story of second guessing, of loss and of collateral damage. But, it’s also a story of hope, of freedom gained and of redemption. Many will think that the redemption is for Taylor for lying. And yes, it was for her. However, it was for Blake too. He promised to love her forever, goes off to college, graduates and gets in ministry…. never did I see him try to keep in touch with Taylor. He left town for college and never looked back. Blake may not trust Taylor, but she wasn’t the only one to disappoint. His promise to her was a lie too. He never tried to follow through with it.
As you turn the pages, you will see how God plays a pivotal role throughout their lives. You will see how all things work together for good for those who love the Lord. It won’t be easy, but overcoming sin never is.
OBSERVATIONS and WONDERINGS:
… Love this advice from a ministry partner to Blake:
“And if you can’t live your faith out in your life, you have no business being in the ministry.”
… Perfect title for this book. Taylor prayed the same prayer for 10 long years, never giving up…
… Blake let his guilt rule him. He allowed his guilty feelings of that wrong choice control him for years. Yes, Taylor was taken out of state to give birth, but she moved back to their hometown. Blake may have thought about Taylor, but never tried to deliver on his promise. It seemed that promise ring had little value. And then, when he learns the truth 10 years later, he can’t trust her. Maybe if he’d kept his promise to her, he would have know that truth years earlier. Yes, both needed redemption, not just Taylor.
… Kept wanting to know what happened to Taylor’s mother? Her role in Taylor’s decision to lie was pivotal, but she pretty much is unseen afterwards. Also does Taylor know where her dad is? Did he just disappear and was never to be heard from again?
… What about Blake’s parents… did Ernie not know about Sam? They lived in the same town and Sam would have been six when Ernie died.
One Faithful Prayer
T.K. Chapin
This was a beautiful book. Taylor and Blake loved each other in High School.
They both loved the Lord and planned to get married some day.
So many mistakes we all make and we definitely all sin.
Believing and trusting the Lord is not easy!
This book covers this faith walk. It is a touching and emotional book and is very encouraging.
Troy and Taylor have created effective, God-filled lives, but are still living 10 years later with the mistake they made as teenagers. T. K. Chapin’s story shows the pain that has caused and that they both will have to face. I loved Troy’s sincere faith and his reliance on God’s leadership. I highly recommend this story.
I love this authors books as they are faith based with realistic challenges to the characters. Very well written. Always uses appropriately placed Bible verses to help the characters. Highly recommend.
I enjoyed reading this story. I like the fact that T.K. Chapin always writes stories that honor God and His principles for living life. He doesn’t shy away from tough topics. In this book, Taylor had to learn consequences of living with long held secrets. I received a complimentary copy of this book but have chosen to freely offer my own opinions without obligation.
The book was really good to read. I did read it in several hours and thoroughly enjoyed the story. With each story that I read by T. K. Chapin his stories are always so true to life. You can smile ,cry , laugh or have whatever emotion you want. The story is always Christ centered and this is what I love about the books.
T. K. Chapin has written another moving story of how young love and mistakes can be overcome through prayer and excepting God’s plan. One must always remember that God hears our prayers and answers in His time. It may not be as soon as we would like, or even the answer we are hoping for, but it is His plan for our lives.
This is a wonderful inspirational story! It will pull on your heartstrings when you read Taylor and Blake’s story. I love how the author intertwines bible verses throughout his story’s and shows how God work’s in people’s life. I highly recommend this book.
T.K Chapin’s book One Faithful Prayer:
When Taylor hears that Blake is coming to Lincoln City she knows she has to tell him the secret she has been hiding from him. Blake is happy to be back in town to help his friend, but nervous about seeing Taylor again. TK will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next in this story. You will feel God working throughout this inspirational book. I had the honor to review this book for a honest review. I couldn’t stop reading this book and I would give it a higher rating than a five star review if I could.
Is it possible to right old wrongs? Is is possible to forgive those old wrongs? These are questions that plague Taylor as she tries to distance herself from an old relationship. She thought she had put the past behind her, but when Blake unexpectedly returns home, to work at her church no less, she is faced with decisions she thought she wouldn’t have to make. She has kept a pretty monumental secret from Blake for over 10 years, can he ever forgive her when he finds out what it is? As always, One Faithful Prayer features well-developed characters that you become vested in, and care about the outcome of their lives. T.K. has a gift for creating people you want to know. This story of forgiveness, and acceptance, is a good read and one I highly recommend. I was given this book in exchange for my honest review.
They made a terrible decision when they were younger, and Taylor’s mother took the next decision from her. Blake is understandably angry. I would have had more to say to the mother. I wished for more time spent on a developing relationship.
