To most, she is Moire Noble, the average daughter of a unimpressive Scottish family that settled in London. But the truth is far more intriguing. Born with the ability to see premonitions, Moire must work hard to guard her secret or risk suffering the fate of her mother…accused of witch craft and burned. For years her secret has gone undiscovered, but now that her twin Lili is engaged to be wed … be wed everything will change. Moire is forced from the comfort of her home and family, cast into the world around her, and exposed to new people. She has little choice but to act when she has a vision showing the death of a male guest at Lili’s engagement party.
Handsome-as-sin Thomas Astley is more than a little intrigued by the vibrant, saucy woman who saved his life. He knows she is more than she seems, and vows to discover all of Moire’s secrets. A move that unbeknownst to him threatens her future and all she holds dear…including her heart.

This is book 2 in a series, but is a stand-alone. This was a sweet, short story about a young woman with special gifts and her learning to accept who she is and who she can become!
Likable Hero…. But Very Short Story
I have been reading this author’s historical romances for a while now, but I didn’t know she had written some medieval ones as well. In this book, the heroine’s family all have paranormal abilities, like premonitions, reading auras, and sensing emotion. Of course, in medieval Europe, having those abilities could brand you as a witch… with dire consequences. They go from country to country, hoping to escape a witch’s pyre and lead as normal of lives as they can. This is, too, a romance, and I really liked the hero. He’s a good, decent guy who doesn’t quite understand how the heroine saved him. While the reader knows she can trust him… will she figure that out herself and open herself to love? While I enjoyed the story and characters, the author engaged in more telling than showing in some parts. This is often a fault of novellas, and this one only clocks in at 72 Amazon pages. The book has been out for a few years, so the amount of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and usage errors surprised me. Not a small number of errors, either, even though the book is a novella and has been out for a while. Because the book is so short, I didn’t find it to be a good value at its current $2.99 price.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
really enjoyed this lovely sweet novella and couldn’t put it down. It told the story of Moire and her family’s fears of discovery during the the time of the Inquisition when fear of witches and the dark arts was prevalent in Europe during the 1600s.
Moire North was a seer, she a gift or in her opinion a curse one that granted her the ability to see visions of the future as well as the past. Gifts she shared with her cousins Samuel who saw people’s auras, her twin Lili who sensed people’s emotions and her cousin Lachlan who like her was also a seer. These gifts caused the deaths of their parents long ago when they fled Scotland and in turn caused them to flee France for a new life in England. Five years have pasted and Moire still hold to her vow to never marry, however her sister Lili is to marry a wonderful, kind man called William, who Lili loves and is loved by in return. William knows there secrets and vows to keep their secret and to protect them all. On the day of their engagement party Moire has a vision of a storm and the death of a young man she had just met and feelings she can’t put aside cause her to save his life. Actions that will change the course of both their lives as they continue to spend more and more time together. Soon attraction turns to love, but will it be enough to alleviate the deep rooted fear that danger of discovery is just around the corner or will her vision of the future show her the way to achieving her hearts desire. Will Thomas’s love and perseverance prove to Moire that he is indeed the perfect man to keep her secret.
The Historical Persecution of Witches
ADULT Historical Romantic Drama at the End of the Elizabethan Era, 1605. The new ruler is King James I. Novella.
The Persecution of those suspected of witchcraft didn’t end until the mid 1600s. Most were women. Truth.
This is a fictional tale of a family with paranormal abilities during that time period.
Moire Noble is part of a family with paranormal abilities, specifically she has premonitions. She and her twin, Lili, both have certain abilities, and they fled from Scotland to France with their father and two brothers, after their mother was killed for being a witch.
Quietly living In France for some years, they have to go back to England when their abilities are going to be discovered. Moire decides she will never wed or have children so the paranormal abilities will die with her.
Her sister Lili decides to marry Inn owner, William, and Moire ends up saving his best friend and business partner, Thomas, from being crushed by a falling tree limb in a storm. Thomas takes an instant liking to her even though she tries to politely discourage his attentions. He begins to wonder how she knew to push him out of the way of the limb before it fell.

Opinions expressed here are entirely my own fault!
This is an ADULT novella, and was an interesting and well written read. History says about 80,000 people were put to death as witches between the 15th and 17th centuries. I have read several of author Mariel’s books, and they keep improving. Great story!
The second book in the Enduring Legacy series a well written very short story that held my interest from the very first page. Moire Noble escaped with her parents and brothers and sister from France as there was witch hunts going on and their family was seers. They went to London where she saves Thomas Astley and he falls in love with her. Moire has vowed she would never marry because of her curse. I enjoyed seeing this story come together.
Such a warm and wonderful story. Moire and her family have special abilities that cost her mother, aunt and uncles their lives. Therefore, she decided that she would never marry so that she never would have children who would inherit her gifts. She met Thomas at her sister’s engagement party, and even though she was as intrigued with him as he was with her, she remained determined to hide away and stay safe. I adore the relationships that this author has created between her characters. She has them focus on love rather than fear, and when Moire allows her fear to rule her, they gently guide her back to what is important. This is a quick, entertaining and inspirational story.

It;s an interesting theme, starts thrilling, but stays a bit flat. Its also not that long of a story and reads quickly. Makes me curious about the other characters stories.
Moire and relatives have special gifts. In a time when you are quickly labeled as a witch, that is not always an advantage. That is why Moire decides not to marry and not to have children, then she cannot pass on the gifts. When she meets an interesting man, it becomes difficult for her to hold on, especially if he puts a lot of effort into her

I really enjoyed the story of Moire and Thomas. She had a secret which if revealed could have easily meant losing not only her life but those amongst her family that shared her genes. Thomas was such a good, sincere person that the reader just knew would never betray such a secret but the hard part for him would be convincing Moire of that. Their romance was so beautiful to see develop and evolve and I for one, really wanted them to get their HEA! How this comes about is part of the secret and evoked a fairytale-type ending!

I can’t even imagine how hard it was back then to have a 6th sense and be accused of witchcraft because of it! I very much enjoyed the story of Moire and Thomas, a fast paced novella that had my attention from start to finish.

Wow, this is not what I expected, it was really good, it is a fantasy type historical in the fact that Moire has premonitions something that could lead to accusations of witchcraft if it ever came out. At the engagement party for her sister she has a vision of a guest dying. Thomas is that guest that she saves and he cannot get Moire out of his mind and is attracted to her. Will her secret come out, grab a copy and find out

This is a quick read. It is about living in fear, superstitions, unwarranted deaths and fear to love. Moire Noble and her siblings have gifts of ESP. Moire more than any of the rest has resented her gift. She has not liked living in fear of discovery nor having to pack up and leave her home at a moment’s notice. Moire has seen her fair share of people unjustly accused of witchcraft and they have been imprisoned or sentenced to death. Some members of her family were sentenced to death and she does not want that to happen again. Moire did the only thing she could think of. She decided never to marry. That way she would not burden her offspring with her family’s gifts. The children would have no need to fear for their lives. The family flees France to London. It causes Moire to hold onto her resolve even tighter. Her twin sister Lili, finds her soulmate and becomes engaged to William. They plan on being married. Moire tried to be happy for her but her fear escalated. Lili told Moira that William knew their secrets and did not hold it against them. He thought that made her special to him and would never betray her trust. Moire would not be comforted. At Lili and William’s engagement party, Thomas Astley became interested in Moire. He went to where she was trying to hide and introduced himself. She was trying to avoid as many people as possible. As Thomas tries to have a conversation with Moire, she has a vision of his death. She rushes away to find her Ma and Da to help her save Thomas. When she cannot locate any member of her family, she takes it upon herself to save him. Not only is Thomas grateful to Moire for saving him, he is completely intrigued by her and senses she is hiding something from him. He makes it his mission to get to know the enigmatic Moire. He calls upon her every day. Moire becomes more and more comfortable with Thomas until he starts to express a deeper interest in her. Moire remembers her pledge and turns Thomas away. Thomas is hurt and confused. When his partner and friend William notices his distress he offers advice. He tells Thomas not to give up and continue to pursue Moire because if he loves her then she is worth it. Thomas continues to call upon Moire at her home and she continues to turn him away. Moire is under the impression that love was the cause of the deaths in her family. Her sister and brother both tell her that Thomas and William have kind and gentle auras. That they are very good and loving men. That she need not fear. Moire’s Ma and Da speak with her and tell her that to love is the greatest gift one could receive. That it was love that enabled their loved ones to endure their horrific ends. If it was not for love, they would not have been born. This gave Moire something to think about. At Lili and Williams wedding, Thomas approaches her and asks her to dance. Thomas wants to know why she turns him away. Before she can answer, she has a vision. Does she see danger for her and Thomas or does she see a bright and loving future for them? This is a sweet romance. I thoroughly enjoyed this short story with great characters, romance and intrigue. I didn’t read the first book in this series, but was able to get the gist. It was sad how people viewed anything diifferent as witchcraft and wanted to burn the witches at the stake. This is sad, but intriguing. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
