A heart-stopping sexy contemporary romance prequel to USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde’s new Cruel Trilogy.I spot the mysterious stranger across the party.I’d seen him in the park, writing furiously in his worn leather notebook. He’s pure confidence, born and bred in high society with eyes like a hawk—observant, cunning, and wicked. With sensual lips and a body made to worship, he’s … lips and a body made to worship, he’s exquisite. A work of art.
While I’m young, innocent, and completely out of my depth.
But I’m drawn to him. Captivated by his approach. When he asks for one night, I have only one word for him.
Yes.
One summer in Paris. One night with him. One cruel night.

A free billionaire romance prequel!
“It all started on a park bench in Paris.” My stomach tightened. I loved it. Both the night and the park bench. It felt like a fairy tale.
I’ve been intrigued by this series since it was announced and with Linde giving us a novella that gives a quick introduction to Natalie and Penn’s story just increased my excitement to a whole new level.
One magical night that ended tragically for one and humiliating for the other… I NEED THE BOOK!!! I need to know what happens and I can’t wait for Cruel Money to release in a few days!
4 Stars!
K.A. Linde delivers again in this steamy prequel with a heart-thumping hero in a second-chance romance that delivers
Loved this series! I read all three of her Cruel series plus this one! Penn and Natalie are perfect for each other! This book starts it all!!!!
A great prequel to this trilogy. Loved Penn and Natalie’s connection and chemistry. Can’t wait to see what happens. I know it going to be one heck of a roller coaster ride.
This book is edgy, and suspenseful and sexy, all the things a good dark romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
Perfect way to start the new series, now off to read book one as I can’t stop. Natalie and Penn story begins with one night in Paris. this novella will set you for the series.
This was a good short prequel to a new series. It tells you the origin between Pen and Natalie met on her last night in Paris. It wasn’t anything profound but it was a way to get you ready for this series. It feels like it’s going to a ride and I’m already in line with my ticket! Pen better have some good explanations and be ready to fight to win back Natalie!
I like having some backstory, so this was perfect.
One Cruel Night by K.A. Linde is a prequel to her new Cruel Trilogy. The first full novel of the trilogy will be Cruel Money, and it’s due out January 22, 2019. I’m currently reading the first book in the trilogy, and I’m glad I read the prequel first. (Readers don’t have to read the prequel though before Cruel Money.) I prefer to read prequels because I love how prequels can introduce to characters and how they first met or even provide us with some of the storylines that will flow right into the first full-length novel. In the case of One Cruel Night is a look back to how Natalie met Penn in Paris, France.
Natalie is in Paris but hasn’t experienced it, and she’s due to leave soon to go back to the states for school. She ends up meeting a gorgeous stranger who she has seen previously in the park. Natalie hasn’t had many adventures in her life, until now when she meets the gorgeous stranger at a party. He’s willing to show her around Paris since she hasn’t experienced the city yet and she’s due to leave soon for the states.
Since this a short novella, I don’t want to give too much away. You don’t have to read One Cruel Night to read Cruel Money when it’s due out this month. Although, you may miss out on some very steamy moments between the two main characters. You’ll also miss out on some the adventures that Natalie goes on when the gorgeous stranger shows her around, and then she does something out of the normal for her.
Natalie is sweet and innocent, and the stranger is mysterious and handsome. Both complete opposites, but fate has put them in the same spot together, so Natalie can finally experience life outside of her innocent world.
Overall, this is an excellent opener to the Cruel Trilogy. I’m looking forward to diving into Cruel Money and find out what happens next to the characters.
I give the book 5 stars and also give it another 5 stars with the steaminess of some of the scenes between the characters. It may be a short novella, but it provides enough insight into the world that K.A. Linde has written.
If you are anxiously waiting for Cruel Money to release, then I highly recommend reading the novella first. It’s FREE currently as of 1.10.2019.
Wonderful characters, a beautiful Paris setting and a sexy couple in this prequel to a new series. An unlikely pair that find common ground, a steamy connection and a whirlwind one night that’s hot, hot, hot. Loved it!
Every good book but I hate when you have to purchase another book to finish the story but I will for this one I really enjoyed it
Love at first sight!!! I can’t wait to get this series started.
And side note… I have read Cruel Money (Book 1 in this series). You really should read One Cruel Night first before starting the series. It will make things make more sense to you.
~ Review by Heidi Pharo
Enjoying the adventure of a lifetime, Natalie finds herself soaking up all that Paris has to offer. At the insistence of her best friend, Natalie soon engages in one last night of fun! With a party the focus of attention, Natalie can’t help but feel like no one in attendance is her ‘type’ of person. Then she discovers Penn standing on a balcony.
Natalie quickly realizes that the gentleman she has watched scribbling away in his notebook each day in the park is none other than the handsome gent standing in front of her. With the temptation from Penn to see another side of the city, Natalie sets out to create memories of a lifetime before heading back to the states. Nothing would prepare Natalie for the outcome of that One Night in Paris.
Paris is the backdrop for a sexy rendezvous in One Cruel Night by K.A. Linde. This novella is packed full of all of the things that one would hope to experience when enjoying the spoils of the city of lights. While romance is the name of the game, only time will tell how that one night in Paris will change the future for Penn and Natalie.
One night in Paris can be a lifechanger. A night to be someoelse, to act out of your behavior and experience new feelings. One night qith him can be cruel and change your life forever.
Natalie is having a unique chance in life. On vacation with her friend in Paris, she knows that this opportunity will probably be the only one she will have to get to know other countries. On her last night in town, she meets a young man who had already caught her attention – she saw him in the park every day writing – and deciding to be spontaneous once in her life, she accepted his proposal to get to know the real Paris, not what is shown to tourists. On this night of discoveries, adventures and first times, Natalie will experience various feelings.
Until morning comes, and with it, our character will learn the meaning of humiliation, abandonment and broken heart.
Six years later, upon taking a new job, the last person she imagined meeting would be the man who tormented her thoughts all those years. Finding out the truth about Penn and the weight of the surname he carries, Natalie will be drawn into a world of appearances, money, evil and lies. And in a place where you can not trust anything or anyone, Natalie will once again fall prey to the cruelty of money.
K.A. Linde presents her new series Cruel, where Cruel Money is the first volume and One Cruel Night is the prequel, showing the encounter of the characters. It is essential to read the prequel for a better understanding of the narrative.
A night to remember or a night to forget? Only the reader can decide.
But, indeed, an amazing plot wich makes us desire for more of Penn and Natalie.
I loved meeting Natalie and Penn during their night together in Paris. Both trying to find themselves at different stages in life. The connection is immediate and I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen in CRUEL MONEY.
This is a fab little prequel to Natalie and Penn’s story in Cruel Money – I actually read this prequel after I read Cruel Money which is not the way to do it lol, but so glad I did as it fill in the gaps and questions you have as to what exactly happened that night!!
It’s Natalie’s last night in Paris before flying back home, she’s seen Penn in the park a few times before they bump into each other at a party, they have this instant connection and spend the rest of the night together sightseeing before going back to his flat for the night, a magical night she will never forget. That is it all comes crashing down around her in the cruel light of day.
Definitely worth reading before Cruel Money!
Short and to the point. I’m not a huge fan of novellas/prequels overall (they usually end up being too short for me to love them), but I enjoyed this. I’m giving it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
I liked Natalie’s character, and the little we glimpsed of Penn. I’m excited to see more of him in the first book of the Cruel trilogy, which I’ll be starting ASAP. The book focuses on one “cruel” Parisian night shared between these two.
The chemistry was great, and I liked the dynamic between them. Her being kind of shy/new to things, and him showing her the ropes. The last chapter moved ahead into the future, and gave us the start to the new part of their story that they didn’t know was about to unfold. I can’t wait to read more!
This is the best introduction ever!!! After reading this prequel I’m so intrigued about Penn and Natalie.
If that’s just a one night, can you imagine what will happen next?? Can’t wait for more of this series.
This book had me spellbound from the beginning right to the end. A chance encounter leads to one unforgettable and magical night in Paris. They share a connection that neither expects nor can explain. Their chemistry is electric and undeniable; their attraction magnetic. The intimate scenes are incredibly sexy. This storyline is flawlessly written and had me captivated. I can’t wait to find out how their story plays out in Cruel Money!!
