“Skully has a talent for smooth dialogue, fun, sexy characters and delightful humor.” ~ Romantic TimesIt’s France. It’s summertime. It’s an amazing chateau in the countryside. And it’s a hen party for three brides. The girls are in France to pick up a hen for a lovelorn peacock living in the Hideaway Creek Cemetery, and to celebrate their upcoming weddings, which are all to take place on the same … place on the same day.
BeeBee Barton is the only unattached member of the wedding entourage, and Grandma Blue decides to do a little matchmaking for her with the sexy Frenchman who almost runs BeeBee down with his tractor.
What could be more perfect than one crazy fling with a handsome Frenchman?
Unless it’s the sexy single dad back home in Hideaway Creek.

One Crazy Fling by Jennifer Skully
Both returning fans and folks new to the series are sure to enjoy One Crazy Fling. Beebee is a talented hairstylist in love with Theo and Theo’s baby Poppy. Theo and Poppy both loved and lost Poppy’s deadbeat mom (a welcome change from the all-too-common deadbeat dad). Although folks following the series will recognize the characters joining Beebee on a trip to France, even newbies will fast become enamoured of Grandma Blue in particular, and the others will be tantalizing teasers for the other books in the series. While the events in Hideaway Creek (the usual setting for the series) provide an interesting background, this story focuses on Beebee’s trip to France and her seduction or seducing of a lovely Frenchman. The real heart of the story, however, is Beebee coming to grips with what she really wants out of life. The pleasure for the reader is that she struggles with this realistic emotional awakening while enjoying the countryside and luscious foods of France. Take a girl’s trip with the ladies of Hideaway Creek and treat yourself to One Crazy Fling!
This one had me flipping the dice as to what would and wouldn’t happen. It’s definitely a fling though. It’s short which I don’t mind at all but I would have preferred a bit more of a definite finishing up of this couple’s story. I think she’s a great character with what seems to be a hopeless case when it comes the man she’s “secretly” attracted to. The grandmother is roll on the floor hilarious but she always tells it like it is. I was provided a free copy without obligation and am voluntarily reviewing.
More a story opening than a complete plot: reflecting in France

I liked the female camaraderie and the easy, breezy feel of their hen party adventure in rural France, right down to stunning chateaux and charming village fetes. Grandma Blue is a real trip and the writing flows well. But the story seems incomplete, just a placeholder or prequel for BeeBee Barton, the main character in this novella who desperately wants to nest and has fallen in total adoration of someone else’s baby! For me, she seems to spinning her wheels and stagnating in the pursuit of her goals, with just a glimmer of future change that did not leave me satisfied.
I am not really a big fan of novellas used as a set-up for a future story unless there is something resolved. In this case, even Henri the peacock seems uncertain of the future his animal whisperer has arranged for him in the course of the novella.
Does this mean I am not invested in BeeBee’s fate? Heck, no! I will be waiting for the next volume in the series.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the story; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This is a novella introducing us to BeeBee and her life and upcoming romance. It’s a sweet story revolving around our favorites going to France to get a peahen for Henri. At this point you’re probably wondering what the heck I’m talking about. Don’t worry even though this is the 6th book in the series, you can easily follow along and start with this book. The characters are rich and fun (Grandma Blue). And I loved the descriptions of where they stayed in France and the sights they saw. A great read to introduce you to this fabulous series and even better if you’ve read the previous books.

One Crazy Fling was a cute, sweet read that sets up the next full length story in the series.

I found this book to be a very enjoyable read with the good character and storyline development that kept me turning the pages until the very last page!
BeeBee Barton is attending a bachelorette party in France. She and her friends rented a chateau to celebrate the upcoming weddings of Lili Goodweather, Madison O’Donnell and Opal Smith. After slowly falling in love with little Poppy Swann, young daughter of Theo Swann, she feels the yearning to have a child of her own. While in France, BeeBee meets Philippe and wonders if she should enjoy a fling with this handsome man. Will she have second thoughts or will thoughts of Theo keep her from acting on impulse? An entertaining romance with characters from the previous books in the series. Look for “Crazy for Baby”, to see what is next in BeeBee’s story. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
