Benson Bayou Beauregard is the president of the Bear Bottom Guardians MC, and the grandson of the Sergeant at Arms for the Dixie Wardens MC. He’s a mountain of a man and the warden of a prison, and there’s only one thing that can scare him—being told that he’s the father of a three-year-old little girl.A three-year-old little girl that has no clue who he is. Hell, he only finds out about the … about the little cherub when a woman from child protective services comes by and rocks his world before leaving the girl in his shocked arms.
Every single thing he thinks he knows goes up in a cloud of smoke.
To make matters worse, the woman that he’s been trying to convince to give him a chance takes one look at the little girl and tells him that he’s just not in the right place to handle both of them.
But Bayou was never one to back down from a challenge.
He can handle a three-year-old girl that acts exactly like him, and he can more than take on the fiery red-head that sets flame to his blood while he’s at it.

Bayou and Phoebe are my favorite couple of the Bear Bottom Guardians MC. Their story was one that I just couldn’t get enough of. I loved how they meet, and how it didn’t matter that they didn’t see each other for years, that Bayou still thought about her. Phoebe was the same way when it came to Bayou. The way that they were together showed that they had the perfect chemistry. And no just because they were written by the author to be together doesn’t mean they the chemistry will be there. At least when the story is played out in my head. But, these two had the perfect chemistry. It was like Phoebe was created for Bayou. In fact their chemistry along with their story was the reason I found myself going right into a re-read once I was done the first time. And I can already see that this book is going to be one that I will be reading over and over again.
This is the fifth book in this addictive series from LLV. I love these Bear Bottom Guardians.
I have been waiting for Bayou’s story. As the president of the MC he has featured in all the previous books and I was seriously intrigued as to who would win him over and knock him on his ass. He met Phoebe when he was a teenager and he fell for her straight away but was waiting until she was ready for him to claim her.
I loved Bayou, he was real and honest. He embraced his flaws and I honestly think LLV has written his flaws and insecurities perfectly. Phoebe was the perfect girl for him, she embraced him how he was and didn’t treat him like he was different, even from when they first met.
One thing I have loved about LLV’s series is that it expands from previous series and each book builds upon these worlds giving us new characters to fall in love with. I am excited to see what she brings us next.
5 Stars
With each book I fall more in love with this Bear Bottom Guardians MC series, and with each book I tend to find a new favorite. Case in point, Bayou and Fancy. I adored the fact that LLV chose a non-typical hero this time around. Benson Bayou Beauregard has never been one to hide his Asperger’s or the fact that he’s different from most people. I also loved the awareness brought forth to this condition that most aren’t aware of. I loved the flashback we get to his and Phoebe’s first meeting where the pace was set. Even as young teens, these two had a connection that jumped off the pages. Now years later, that connection is still undeniable.
Bayou has his life and routine just the way he wants it. A job he’s proud of, his MC and MC brothers, everything he could want. Then his cousin falls in love with the woman across the street. The sister of the woman he’s always fancied, Phoebe. The one woman who stood up for him when he was younger and he has never forgotten. Now, she’s working for him and being around her every day just draws him closer to her. Then when his worst nightmare rears her ugly head, his world is rocked in the best way he never thought he wanted in the form of his three year old daughter.
As with all LLV stories, this one is full of her signature brand of humor, strong characters, sexiness, and suspense. I love these next generation stories, if not more than the original stories. LLV’s writing continues to get better and more creative with each story. I can’t wait for more of these guys!

Each book in the series seems to get better and better. Benson a.k.a. Bayou and Phoebe are 2 kindred souls. They don’t like crowds, they both preferred to be on their own but they take very different path to be reunited. Bayou goes into the army to help get over his aversion and Phoebe goes into nursing. Benson has to make an effort to be “normal” which doesn’t come naturally to him like other people. Phoebe has always held a torch for Bayou so when she graduates nursing school her first job is to apply at the prison where Bayou is the warden. She love him exactly how he is, quirks and all. Bayou is also the president of the Bear Bottom Guardians MC and everyone differs to him concerning the MC. When Bayou’s life is turned upside down phoebe is there to ground him. I love these two characters!!! I can’t wait for this series to continue! I highly recommend this book!
Each book in this series is just so good!! I can not get enough of them. I love the dynamics between them all and the way the characters are drawn together. I especially love how not everyone is perfect, it just makes the stories just that much better!
Pheobe is such a sweet heart. I am somewhat like her. I don’t like to hang around in crowds and would prefer to read more than anything. She has held a torch for Benson since she was a teenager, which I think is just adorable. She loves him exactly how he is.
Benson is different from other men and he has put a lot of effort into making himself change for the better. He still has some touchy bits but the army change a lot for him. Pheobe is the only women he has ever liked and felt himself around. These two are just adorable.
I am seriously in love with this book, actually I am in love with this series! The book is light hearted, with a little suspense, but mostly it is just a really fun read. I devoured it! I didn’t want to put it down. I can not wait for more from this series. I am so excited!
One Chance, Fancy is the fifth book in the Bear Bottom Guardians MC series by Lani Lynn Vale, and this series has become one of my all-time favorites from her. Like the overwhelming majority of Lani’s other works, this book stems from another series, or two actually. While not technically a spin-off of either the Heroes of the Dixie Wardens or the Freebirds series, it does expand on them as it features both a hero and heroine who are the children (or grandchild) of characters in those series. The thing that sets Vale’s work apart from everyone else’s is that with each new book Lani releases, she builds upon those original worlds, further developing not just the characters that the current book are introducing, but older characters as well. The result for her readers is a very distinct, unique-to-Lani reading experience that is essentially the literary equivalent of a long-running, daytime soap opera—but without the infidelity and divorces. What’s even more impressive about this, though, is that Vale has somehow managed to craft her stories in such a way that new readers can pick one up at any point and ease into this inter-connected world from that book onward.
One Chance, Fancy definitely packed in the feels with a different kind of hero and the woman who fell for this unusual man as a teenager. Vale managed to capture all of Bayou’s insecurities spectacularly, and in doing so, she not only created a hero who was authentic, genuine and real, but she also gave her readers a heart-tugging, sexy and satisfying romance between a couple that readers will be rooting for from the first page in this teenage-crush-comes-to-life love story. Vale’s creativity knows no bounds, and she displayed that well here by weaving an imaginative, intriguing suspenseful arc into the storyline. Love and laughter are key elements in all of Lani’s books, and that was evident in both Bayou and Phoebe’s sexy, sweet romance and in the way that Vale copiously shared her wonderful sense of humor throughout this story. Entertaining, amusing and completely engrossing, Vale’s writing never fails to pull me in and keep me there while I devour her words. Yet another fantastic story in another fabulous series, I finished this book already longing for the next one. Five smooches from me for One Chance, Fancy by Lani Lynn Vale!

“Who falls in love with a person in just a few hours, and stays in love with him for years? I did.”
I fell hard for Bayou after getting to know him better in Once Chance, Fancy. Even he will admit that he’s socially awkward and hard to get close to. But, that was not the case for her. While others might talk about him like he wasn’t even there, she saw him. Too bad she was only 14 years old and couldn’t do anything about it.
I really enjoyed how the author showed me the first meeting between the characters when they were so young. She put the idea in my head and that only made the buildup more intense as I waited for all the stars to align when they got older. I really really really want to talk to you about her, but since the author chose not to mention her name my lips are sealed. Though I can tell you I adore her, and her family. She’s got sass and smarts and is not intimidated by the big, burly, bossy badass, Bayou. He’s grown up in all the best ways, “He was easy on the eyes, and hard to look away from. Formidable and intimidating, he was a presence in a room that you couldn’t help being drawn to.” Hello? Have you seen that cover? #CoverLust is an understatement!
As I’ve come to appreciate, the author never fails to focus on a topic that increases my awareness and pulls my heartstrings. I was totally invested in this gripping, beautifully written story. Even though there were some painful situations, there was also plenty of comic relief. The witty banter between characters is something that’s never missing in a Lani Lynn Vale book. And don’t get me started on the hilarious chapter headings that make me giggle throughout.
If bedbugs are found on beds, who the hell came up with the name ‘cockroach’? – Things that go through Bayou’s mind.”
Such a great installment in the Bear Bottom Guardians MC series.
I liked Bayou. I liked Phoebe. And I loved them together.
Bayou… He was all sorts of sweet & swoony in a gruff sort of way. The hummingbird ring & its explanation of the meaning, his interactions with Isa & the fact that he was an oral virgin… Those were just some of the reasons why I fell in love with him. Part of me does wish that he would’ve gotten together with his Fancy sooner but… I’ll take what I can get. (ie: that whole oral virgin thing)
Phoebe… She was so feisty, headstrong & fun. I loved the strong bond she had with her family, her interactions with Isa & her way cool passion of falconry. Like Pru in the last book, she was just a joy to have as a heroine. I can’t wait to see her other sister’s (Piper’s) happily ever after!
Disappointed with how the Brielle situation was dealt with… or rather not dealt with. Her annoying-a** goes from stalking, throwing b*tchy looks/barbs & hissy fits at the Mackenzie sisters throughout these last two books to “she’d gotten over her jealousy” in the epilogue. I ain’t buying that sh*t for a hot second. Someone needed to open a can of whoop a** on that girl.
The epilogue was funny & adorable. LOVED all of that baby news!
Looking forward to the next book in the series, It Happens, featuring Zee & Jubilee!
Side Note: One of my new favorite LLV chapter headings… “Been on a diet for two weeks straight. Proud to say I’ve lost 14 days of happiness. -Phoebe’s comment that Bayou has no idea how to respond to”
Lani has done it again. What an amazing read. It had me laughing throughout the whole book. If you haven’t read it, read it. If you haven’t read any of the books, you need to!
Bayou is amazing, yes he’s different from everyone else but he has his head on straight. Love how pheobe loves and protected him, she’s a true McKenzie for sure, they come, they see, they conquer, amazingly done
One Chance Fancy was a phenomenal read in the Bear Bottom Guardian MC Series. I loved Phoebe and Bayou. Lani Lynn Vale’s writing and characters are so unique and one of a kind. They are real characters with their quirks and flaws but this makes them real and relatable to me. I LOVE that she wrote a hero on the spectrum. Phoebe initially met Bayou at 15 and she never forgot him. She has loved him from afar all these years. Fast forward 10 years to present day and he is back in her life again. Bayou is more self assured, more confident and extremely sexy. He has a massive heart and loves fiercely. The connection between these two is all heat, fire and passion. I couldn’t get enough. 5 STARS.
Lani Lynn Vale never ceases to amaze me. This book was absolutely fantastic! It was amazing to have a hero such as Bayou, he had my heart from the beginning and the way Phoebe treated him when she met him was so beautiful. I couldn’t put this book down, I was captivated from beginning till the end. I would recommend this book and all other books by Lani Lynn Vale
This is the fifth book in the Bear Bottom Guardians MC Series. I loved Bayou and Pheobe’s story. Bayou is a wonderful character. The story is original, and fast-paced. Aiden Snow and Kendall Taylor did a great job with the narration. I enjoyed listening this story. I was given a free review copy of the audiobook — at my request — and have voluntarily left this review.
Bayou and Phoebe have known each other forever and Phoebe knows she has loved him forever. When years later they find them in each other lives and Bayou knows he will do anything to keep her there. But then a surprise is dropped in his lap and one he embraces whole heartedly but can he still have Phoebe too? I loved their story so much. Bayou is such a great character and Phoebe is so sweet but strong. I love how this author writes stories about such strong women and the men who support and love them. Highly recommend!!!
4.5 stars
This was so good! I loved the building of their relationship, the trials they faced and how they overcame it together. Bagou (Benson) was a perfect match for Phoebe.
I can’t think of anything else to say at the moment besides that I really loved this book.
I totally loved this story. This whole series is fabulous and I’m so pleased I am starting to catch up with it.
Phoebe and Benson, aka Bayou, are literally made for each other. They are both such likeable characters. She is fun and friendly and he is serious and stable but fit. Terrific character descriptions but really the build up from the previous book also helped.
I really enjoyed this fast paced, easy to read story with it’s serious issues that were handled very smoothly but balancing this is the lighthearted sense of humour which is a lot of fun.
Another very entertaining book by this author.
OUTSTANDING! The Bear Bottom Guardians has to be one of my favorite series ever! Lani Lynn Vale, captured me from the first sentence of hte first book, and I’ve been hooked since.
This book is outstanding, it shows that you can do anything if you are patient enough. Bayou is is just that when it comes to Phoebe, patient and controlling, demanding, and totally in love! The way these two come together to actually work together and fall for each other was amazing. Such a great story!
Loved this story – but I knew I would, LLV never fails.
I love these men of the Bear Bottom MC and Bayou’s story is such a heartwarming one.
One Chance, Fancy (Book 5) is a wonderful, emotional love story between Bayou and Phoebe. Their story actually began years earlier even though neither of them realized the connection that they had would stand the test of time.
He has Aspergers and has never seen himself as normal, but Phoebe only
saw him as this big beautiful compassionate man and she pushed him to be the amazing man he turned out to be without even realizing it.
Now is their time! This story is not without drama. Bayou likes everything in order but life has other plans and when his orderly life is thrown a curveball, Phoebe is the one who keeps him grounded and stands by his side.
I love Lani Lynn Vale. Her books are always entertaining and informative especially when it comes to medical and law . This book i think by far resonates with me more then any of her books due to the subject matter.
The man character Bayou is asperges and struggles everyday. The army helped him control some of his quirks and will forever be grateful to hia drill srgt who helped him in more ways then one . I have children who are autistic and while reading this book i sometimes had to smile at some of Bayous quirks as my girls have the same. Lani brought this book to life and touched on a subject that alot of people dont understand or don’t want to understand. Regardless she did this book justice and i think it would have to be one of my favorites by her . I highly recommend this book. It was awesome.
