Benson Bayou Beauregard is the president of the Bear Bottom Guardians MC, and the grandson of the Sergeant at Arms for the Dixie Wardens MC. He’s a mountain of a man and the warden of a prison, and there’s only one thing that can scare him—being told that he’s the father of a three-year-old little girl.A three-year-old little girl that has no clue who he is. Hell, he only finds out about the … about the little cherub when a woman from child protective services comes by and rocks his world before leaving the girl in his shocked arms.
Every single thing he thinks he knows goes up in a cloud of smoke.
To make matters worse, the woman that he’s been trying to convince to give him a chance takes one look at the little girl and tells him that he’s just not in the right place to handle both of them.
But Bayou was never one to back down from a challenge.
He can handle a three-year-old girl that acts exactly like him, and he can more than take on the fiery red-head that sets flame to his blood while he’s at it.

Lani had brought her sassy funny story with smile.. Beson and Fancy had their eyes for each other since they were young.. This book was engaging, funny as hell and the classic alpha male.
One Chance Fancy was a great follow up to my favorite of the Bear Bottom Guardians Series, My Bad. Plus the title is just awesome!
Bayou is the president of the BBG and the warden of the prison. He’s stoic and quiet. I didn’t realize that he was on the autism spectrum until the prologue. I love how Lani handled his Aspergers, and how her heroine did as well. She was protective and supportive of Bayou and really tried to understand him.
Phoebe was amazing! She was made for Bayou… and she had some surprise talents of her own. I LOVED Phantom. I also love how each of LLV’s characters is unique. We, of course, get to see Sam and his family, and other characters from Free Birds, Dixie Wardens, and BBG Series. I love how everyone is just basically one big family.
Of course, it wouldn’t be an LLV novel without drama—vengeful exes and jealous cousins. We also learn that Bayou unknowingly got a woman pregnant and ends up having custody of his daughter—Isa—who has a lot of issues of her own that just break your heart. I loved watching him fall in love with his daughter.
It really was a great read. The way the characters loved each other gave me butterflies.
5 Stars!
I love how in this book LLV writes about real issues and how many people react to people with the issues. I say this, because I have some very important people in my life being diagnosed with Asperger’s and mental illness. Having seen and dealt with how todays society has treated them by looking down or have made them feel less than what they are. I loved how these characters even though are flawed are written as strong characters that have learned to overcome what others think. With all this being said I absolutely adored this book. 5 stars all the way.
The very first night they meet Phoebe sticks up for Bayou, it is not something that he is used too. On that night it helps him start to see that there is absolutely nothing wrong with him. He has been made to feel like he is incapable of being “normal”. Phoebe helps him realize he is “normal” and capable of loving like everyone else.
Bayou and Phoebe are perfect for each other. The chemistry between the two of them is off the charts and this book is filled with just enough steamy scenes. The emotional turmoil that has been instilled within Bayou is helped with the tenacity of Phoebe to prove to him he is perfect just the way he is. He feels like he is incapable of love and tends to steer clear of anything that has to do with emotions. The not so little twist makes him sit back and realize that he can love, and when he does he loves with all of himself. There is so much more I want to place in this review, but I am refusing to or at least trying really hard to add any type of spoilers.
The headings at the beginning of each chapter did have me laughing out loud at just about every chapter. For example… “I hate it when a woman acts like a supervisor. Bitch act like your wage.”- Phoebe OR “If bedbugs are found in beds who in the hell came up with the name cockroach.”- Bayou. These are just a few examples of what to expect. Of course there are a few one liners that had me giggle snort as well. “Don’t brag about how good you can cook. Men eat three-day old pizza. Impress them with anal sex.” LOL or “Waterboard him with your pussy.” LOL.
Bayou is the president of Bear Bottom MC. He also has a three year old daughter he didn’t know about until a social worker leaves the child with him. Phoebe or Fancy has loved Bayou for a long time. She’s also been the only one that accepts Bayou the way he is with Asperger’s and other things. I loved the interaction between these two and how things were handled with Bayou’s daughter. This series gets better with every book.
Great characters and love that different hobby’s were present. Loved their connection!
Loved Bayou and Fancy
Phoebe and Bayou met at a Club party when they were both teenagers. Bayou is a bit different to everyone else, but when Phoebe stands up for him, he takes notice and starts to make changes in his life. Fast forward eight years, he is completely different to how he was as a teenager, but some things haven’t changed. Phoebe never forgot Bayou as a fifteen year old and now that he’s back in her life because of Pru and Hoax, things come to a head!
Wonderful story and absolutely loved the ending Looking forward to Zee next
4.5* Bayou and Phoebe (Fancy) has known each since they were kids. Fancy never talked down to him, made fun of him, she just talked to him like she talked to everyone else. I loved Fancy, she had a backbone of steel when needed and she was a sweetheart. She’s always felt a little more about Bayou then she let on.
Bayou has Asperger’s but he’s learned for the most part how to deal with it. What helps him to keep it under control. He knows what he needs and that’s Fancy. Then he’s shocked to find out that he has a daughter. He was scared but stepped up like the man that he is and took to being a dad like a boss.
Fancy and Bayou make a great couple and this book will open your eyes to the struggles that they have to go through. Loved the way that they had each other to lean on when needed.
4.5 Stars
I think after Rome Bayou is my new favourite. From the beginning of this book I was invested in this story.
I loved that Phoebe didn’t see any issue with Bayou’s ‘issues’ (as he called it) and she stood up for him from the start. Their story was unique and I loved everything about it.
Phoebe fell in love with Bayou when she was twelve and she never forgot him. After she started working at the prison where he was the warden she knew that they were destined to be.
Bayou couldn’t forget the girl who stood up for him when he was younger, but because of his Asperger’s he knew that he couldn’t be with her. But the more he saw her spent time with her he knew that she was the only one for him. But will things be as easy as he thought, as his life just got more complicated with a three year old little girl added to the mix.
Loved this story and loved these three girls. Pheobe, Piper and Pru. I freaking loved that Pru called her kids Dean and Sam, freaking awesome. I have to say I really hated his sister she freaking worked on my last damn nerves and all I wanted was for him and Hoax just to freaking kick her to the curb. But Phoebe didn’t let her stand in her way. I loved Phoebe’s quirky, funny side and she complimented Bayou perfectly, I loved their connection, their chemistry and the way they just clicked with each other. I can’t wait to read Piper’s story!!!
5 STAR Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review
I have loved the Bear Bottom MC since the first book in this amazing series. I’ve always wondered what Bayou’s story was. This man…he far exceeded my expectations. I found myself falling hard for him. I loved getting to see the inner workings of Bayou. I loved getting to watch him fall. For all that Bayou is, he’s honest about so much. He’s a different bread. I loved seeing him and Phoebe become a couple. I loved getting to see their backstory. I loved seeing how far Bayou have come as a person and how he overcomes things in his life he can’t help.
Phoebe…this woman. She’s known Bayou was it for her for a long time. It’s just getting there, especially with a man like Bayou. I loved her strength, her heart, and most of all her love for Bayou. She’s like most of LLV’s heroines, but somehow so different.
I can’t begin to tell you how much I loved this story. It was different. While we get to see some old friends and meet some new, I loved just getting to know who Bayou was. LLV did that. She brought him to life for me. I might love Bayou more than any of LLV’s other characters, and that’s incredibly hard for me to say, because she has become one of my favorites. Please check out this amazing story. It’s not to be missed.
I have been dying for Bayou’s story for what feels like forever, the forever part is mainly because I’m an impatient brat, but still, BAYOU! SQUEEEEEEE! There is just so much to love in this book. From a unique hero bringing a new level of diversity to Lani’s books to some serious swoon and that fantastic sarcasm that Lani does so well that keeps you giggling. As usual with Lani Lynn Vale’s writing I was utterly captivated the moment I opened this book and devoured it in one sitting. Bayou and Phoebe are definitely one of my all time favorite couples!
I have a laundry list of reasons to love Bayou, but I’ll try to condense that before I reach the point of making a song to praise his perfection. Bayou is a man who more than simply overcomes hardships. With strength well beyond physical he thrives despite life throwing him so many curveballs. Along with that Lani really gives a beautiful example of different, not less than with him which is something I think many people will not only love as much as I do, but also maybe open eyes for people who have never met anyone like Bayou.
Beyond all of that he’s also a man with a heart bigger than even he realizes. There were moments with him where he was so heart achingly sweet I felt like I was just going to burst from swoon overload. Then there’s Phoebe, accepting Bayou exactly as he is from the moment they meet and loving him unconditionally. These two have a soul deep connection that just steals your heart.
You only need the one chance with this book because it will wrap its way tightly around your heart and it will make your soul soar. If you fancy a MC romance that will keep you enraptured from the start to the finish, have you falling in love with Bayou and Phoebe and have you experiencing every emotion possible then this is the one for you. Their story was inspirational and gave you a deeper look into not only the man that was Benson Bayou Beauregard but the boy that he had once been. It showed you the impact that these two had played on each others lives without the other knowing. This fifth book in the series was action packed, emotional (yes I got teary), heartwarming, witty and for a man that distanced himself, he showed us just how hot, steamy and sexy he could get. In my opinion Bayou deserved his once chance to get Fancy and I was so glad I went along for the ride.
4.5 star
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, suspense, secrets, and heartbreak.
Before reading this story please read the below books first
Mess Me Up (Bear Bottom Guardians MC, #1)
Talkin’ Trash (Bear Bottom Guardians MC #2)
How About No (Bear Bottom Guardians MC #3)
My Bad (Bear Bottom Guardians MC #4)
This is Phoebe and Bayou’s story. Phoebe has liked Bayou since she met him years ago, but he never gave her a chance. Now she is working with him and they start to form a relationship when he is told he is a father. Now he has to figure out how to take care of a little girl and also keep the woman he wants for himself close. Phoebe has loved Bayou for a long time, but can he love her? Can he really fall when they have some much baggage coming at them? His little girl is different and needs a special touch, but can they handle that? What happens when danger comes for his family will he be able to handle everything that is coming al him? Do they have a future together or is this the end?
I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read. As with any book or series you pick up you get a glimpse of another set of characters in another series. All of the books tie into each other with the characters overlapping. Makes you want to go back and re-read the series over and over.
I highly recommend this book or really let’s be honest any book this author has written.
A different kind of love story but oh what a wonderful one! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Bayou has Asperger’s and does not hide it. With the help of his drill Sargent has learned to live a fulfilling life! Phoebe has always accepted Bayou with his differences.
This books shows that even though people have differences whatever those maybe they can find love. This book will make you feel good all over!
Fancy/Phoebe – Benson/Bayou
Let’s start off by saying that this is one of my favorite authors and so we have come to anticipate each and every release she puts out.We are really loving her current Bear Bottom Series and its characters and I have to say this couple made it to the top of my favorite paired characters.
We really enjoyed this stories plot as it was something new and different and usual from what we are used to reading so this was a nice refreshing change at seeing someone who lives with challenges daily manage to cope and carve out a life for themselves regardless of those challenges.I love a story like this when the main characters have some what of a past together where they felt a connection and some sort of mutual bond between them and no matter what happened in the years to come would always have a place in other thoughts.
In each story I try to single out a favorite character but, this time around its to hard to pick just one as I really loved both of the main characters equally.
Phoebe/Fancy- I found her to be smart, intriguing, brave, sweet, kind, independent, loyal but, overall one of those women who has the complicity to love with ones whole heart and shares a special affinity with animals.
Benson/Bayou – I loved him from the onset of the story as you could not help but, be drawn to his character. We loved how Bayou challenged himself time and time again of how he overcame those obstacles he needed to get to where he wanted to be.My heart went out to him time and time again as the man believed himself broken but, everything but.
The romance between Fancy & Bayou’s was super sweet. They were perfect for one another as well as being kindred spirits.I think I love that they had so much in common even if Bayou didn’t even realize at first.
Overall we loved the story as it was heart felt and sweet and one of those stories that made you feel good and made you smile time and time again throughout the story.
Bayou made me fall for him myself right from the onset of the story the man was sex on a stick for sure ! lol
This was by far the best book in the Bear Bottom Guardians MC series! I was completely transfixed with the story, and couldn’t put it down!
Bayou was my favorite part of this book, hands down. The ways he had overcome his diagnosis and illness were inspiring to me for teaching my young autistic son. I loved how he realized that he needed Fancy/Phoebe in his life, long before it got turned upside down by events in the story. I also loved learning more about Phoebe’s desire to work in the prison, and how she made it work. I loved watching the romance between Phoebe and Bayou blossom, and how they interacted with Phoebe’s family. Unfortunately, Brielle was still as obnoxious as ever, and I would have liked to seen her get out of that with this story.
Overall, this was an amazing installment in the series, and I can’t wait to read more!
This book was awesome. We finally got Bayou’s story and I will tell you it was my favorite of the series. The way the author wrote his disability was beautiful and I felt she did it justice. Phoebe was great. She was just awesome from start to finish. Her feeling for her family and for Bayou were so real I could feel it. There are some awesome surprises in this book and I don’t want to risk spoiling it so I will say that it it sort of lighter drama, but there is drama that helps the story progress. I was really glad the author didn’t give us a super hard time when it came to them getting their HEA. Add in an epic epilogue this was a beautifully well rounded story. I can’t wait for Zee to get his book. 5 stars #2OCCJD

I know I say this every time, but these books are so much better if you read the previous books. Bayou knows that he is no good for Phoebe and it’s better that he stays away from her. Since he met her years ago, he knew there was something about her that made her for him and he never forgot about her since that first meeting. Now, they live in the same town, and there is no avoiding each other as her sister is now married to his cousin. Just when Bayou realizes that Phoebe does indeed feel the same way that he does, he gets a huge bomb dropped on him. Phoebe, knowing that right now Bayou needs to focus on the little girl that he just found out about, tells Bayou that he needs to focus on that, and she will back out of the equation. But Bayou is not about to let her slip through his fingers, no matter what Phoebe has to say about it.
I think Bayou knocked Miller out of first place! My heart broke for Bayou at some points in this story, and I just wanted to reach in and… well not give him a hug cuz he wouldn’t like that LOL. This story was amazing, with the right amount of drama, the naughty bits were on fire, some laughs and a little bit of danger. I loved that we get to see the guys from Free and I love this world that LLV has created and was not ready to leave it when the book ended. I give this 5 stars.

Phoebe Mackenzie met Benson/Bayou when she was 15, then again at 16 and the encounters stayed with her into adulthood as it was another 9 years before she saw him again. The same went for Bayou, with thoughts of Phoebe helping him through his time in the army and other events that happened to him over the years. Always on the side lines, and unable to react to social cues due to his Asperger’s; he has a tendency to be brutally honest about what he’s thinking which doesn’t always go down well, Bayou didn’t realise his feelings were reciprocated. Once that fact was established though, all bets were off and he was claiming her. Nothing and no one, including crazy exes, super territorial cousins and newly discovered children will come between them.
As with all Lani Lynn Vale books I devoured this in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it. I give One Chance, Fancy 5 stars and can’t wait for whoever is next.
This is an author that has a lot of books! She has written several different series, each series focusing on a different cast of characters, but still connected, for the most part. Throughout these series, there have been some characters that have stuck out, struck a chord, or become a favorite in some way, each for different reasons. There have also been a few books that have become favorites, for the same reasons. After reading One Chance, Fancy, I have to say I’ve found a new favorite. I love, love, love Bayou!
Bayou is a favorite because HE ISN’T PERFECT! (I know, a romance hero, that isn’t absolutely perfect, in every way!?! What the What?) I love Bayou for his eccentricities, for his quirks. I think they make him an amazing man, perfect for Phoebe, exactly what she needs. No daughter of Sam’s could love a man that wasn’t strong enough to deal with a woman that knows herself, and is strong enough to stand on her own, but confident enough in herself to know that she doesn’t have to. Bayou was strong enough to overcome a rough childhood, adapt to his limitations, and excel at the life he has made for himself.
This book is brilliant! I loved Bayou and Phoebe together. Their story hit me right in the feelings. Their connection, right from the beginning, was magical, and it was clear to me they belonged together, even if they didn’t know it then. Their tenacity, and ability to overcome made for a story I will read again and again!
