Chase Henson doesn’t play by the rules. He doesn’t let himself get attached, doesn’t stay in one place long enough to call anywhere home. So when he returns to the small town of Summer Hill for the first time in years, the last thing he expects to find is a reason to stay.Sierra Belmont is lost. Devastated after a sudden tragedy that left her heart broken in a million pieces, Sierra is just … just barely getting by. Burying herself in work at Summer Hill’s only bookstore, all she wants to do is make it through another day.
And then Chase walks through the doors of The Book Bag, claiming he’s just there to buy a book. Rumors that he’s dangerous fly through the town, but Sierra isn’t afraid of him. He might be the last person she should be with, but he’s the only one who understands the depth of her pain. For the first time, Chase stands still, fighting the desperation to mend Sierra’s broken heart.
Always running, the past has never had a chance to catch up to Chase. But there’s a first time for everything.

One Call Away was a beautiful, emotional, and memorable love story, and one of my favorite reads of the year! It was my first novel by Emily Goodwin, and it will most definitely not be the last. I completely fell head over heels in love with her writing style and the phenomenal storyline and characters she created. One Call Away was an incredible romance and I absolutely loved it!
Chase and Sierra were one of my favorite couples, and two of my favorite characters, that I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading about. I completely fell in love with them and their story from the start, and I was truly captivated from beginning to end. I loved Chase and Sierra’s easygoing and extremely likable personalities, and I felt an immediate connection with both of them. The chemistry between them was undeniable and I loved how their relationship progressed. There were several up and down moments throughout, which is to be expected in every novel, but it wasn’t anything I couldn’t handle. I didn’t like a few of the secondary characters all that much, especially towards the end, but other than that I loved everything about this book. I loved reading it from both Chase and Sierra’s POV; it allowed me to have a deeper connection and bond with each character. Chase and Sierra completely stole my heart, and I honestly loved reading every single word of their story. Books and reading are my true passion, and I loved that both of them loved to read as much as I do. Chase Henson has seriously ruined all other men for me in real life, and I don’t think any of them will ever compare to him. Sierra Belmont was one of my favorite heroines. She was sweet and compassionate, yet strong and for the most part knew what she wanted in life. I truly loved this couple and their story with all of my heart, and I couldn’t have been more ecstatic with the conclusion. It made my heart extremely happy and I couldn’t stop smiling.
One Call Away was sweet, sexy, and utterly addicting, and one of my TOP FAVORITE romances of the year. Emily Goodwin completely blew me away with her talent in writing One Call Away, and I couldn’t have loved it more if I tried. She did an extraordinary job with this book, and truly made me happy with the resolution to Chase and Sierra’s story. I have fallen in love with Ms. Goodwin’s writing style and I am very much looking forward to reading more of her amazing books. One Call Away was an exceptional and unforgettable love story, and one you definitely don’t want to miss out on!
I enjoyed this journey to love. Sierra had love until one day it was taken away and left her lost in her grief. She struggled to find a way out of the darkness. As she attempts to do “normal” things with her friends, she runs into Chase at the local bar. Chase is dealing with his own issues as he works to build a relationship with his half-brother. He meets Sierra at the bar and ends up rescuing her. He is captivated by this amazing woman. At the same time, he has a loaner phone with voice mails no one deleted that have grabbed his heart as he experiences someone’s intense love that was shattered by death. Sierra is stunned at her reaction to Chase. She finds him easy to be around and just fun while also being drop dead sexy. Each of them have demons to overcome in allowing love into their lives. This is a wonderful journey of finding your way back to yourself as you cope with loss. Of course, there are a few twists along the way that makes them struggle with trusting each other. I loved their easy banter and love of books, it was like they were kindred spirits. I got caught up in their journey and loved every heart felt, sexy moment. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Tragedy, mysterious profession, chance meeting. Loved it.
What a great story about loss and love. Could not put this book down!
The story of Chase Henson and Sierra Belmont will give you all the feels! Angst, love, heart break, grief, sadness, happiness along with a touch of mystery and drama, will keep you turning the pages to see what happens to Chase and Sierra.
The small town of Summer Hill has all the women running around and dishing up gossip, mostly about Chase and how bad is for the town and Sierra. Can Sierra ignore those rumors, or will they break her down? Will Chase stay in town longer enough to fight through these rumors or will he hit the road once again?
The only part I didn’t enjoy was Lisa. Man, can that girl be a brat. Can she not be happy for Chase and Sierra? I kept wanting for her to make a move on Chase since she was clearly not happy for Sierra.
Please note that One Call Away is a full-length, standalone romance novel.
A good premise, but a little too far fetched.
I had a difficult time getting into the story and put it down without finishing. The characters were likable, however the pacing seemed a little slow for me.
Read it in one night.
Nice story but way too much use of the “f” word for me. I won’t read this author again
Too sophomoric.
Couldn’t get enough of the story and the characters.
This poor girl broke my heart it was like I could feel her pain for her loss! Good book glad it had a happy ending
Chase Henson met Sierra Belmont one night when she was a customer at his brother’s bar. He noticed her the minute she walked in, wearing a sexy yet demure white sundress. She looked out of place and a bit uncomfortable, as if she really didn’t want to be there. He lost track of her for awhile, then he turned around and she was sitting at the bar where a drunk guy was bothering her. Sierra looked upset, so he rushed over to her and apologized for being late. She caught on right away that he was pretending to be her boyfriend, so she moved a little closer, smiled up at him, and touched his hand. Chase’s hand tingled and the warm feeling went straight to his heart. Sierra seemed to need him in some way, and there was a familiarity about her that he couldn’t comprehend. Chase wasn’t sure how long he would be in town, but he hoped he would run into Sierra again.
Sierra comes from a wealthy farming family who owns most of the farm land in Summer Hill. She wants nothing to do with the family business and is content living in the original farmhouse with crystals hanging from the trees and sea glass scattered on the walkway. Although her precious cats keep her company, she lives quietly with only memories of past love to keep her warm. She loves her job at the bookstore, but some mornings she wants to stay in bed and dream about how her life used to be, when her heart wasn’t broken.
She didn’t want to go out for her friend’s birthday that night, but she had to admit it felt good to put on a pretty dress and sexy shoes. When Chase came to her rescue, she couldn’t get over how handsome he was. She gazed up at him, and was immediately attracted to his beautiful smile. He was funny, very sexy with his tattooed arms, and he seemed interested in what she had to say. A spark of happiness had entered her heart and she hoped for her sake, she would see him again.
What circumstances will bring Chase and Sierra together again? Will Sierra open her heart to Chase or will she retreat back into her solitary life? Will Chase give Sierra her happy ending and will he be around to share it with her?
I absolutely love “One Call Away” and it got better every time I read it. Emily Goodwin has gifted us with a superb love story that is full of passionate love and quiet understanding between Chase and Sierra. “One Call Away” is one of the best books I have ever read and I will cherish it always.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved Sierra and Chase’s story. One Call Away is a story that broke my heart one minute and made it swell with joy in the next. It was a story about loss, heartache, forgiveness and healing. About picking up the pieces and finding oneself again. I loved reading about how Sierra and Chase’s hardships helped them grew together and heal.
Sierra suffered a great loss that left her heartbroken and numb. She shuts down and closes off her heart. Putting up a facade whenever someone’s around.
Chase has had a rough past. He’s never felt loved or had that feeling of belonging. Chase is continually moving from place to place never staying long enough in one to let anyone breakdown the barriers he built around his heart.
What seems best described as fate, has Chase and Sierra meeting. Two beautifully broken people unknowingly searching for the same thing… to feel whole again.
