From the USA Today bestselling author who is a “master of witty banter” (Entertainment Weekly) come a “perfect rom-com” (Refinery29) that proves when opposites attract, sparks fly. With her bridezilla friend on a DIY project rampage, bridesmaid Jane Denning will do anything to escape – even if it means babysitting the groom’s troublemaker brother before the wedding. It should be a piece of … the wedding. It should be a piece of cake, except the “cake” is a sarcastic former soldier who is 100% wicked hotness and absolutely off-limits.
Cameron MacKinnon is ready to let loose after returning from his deployment. But first he’ll have to sweet talk the ultra-responsible Jane into taking a walk on the wild side. Turns out, riling her up is the best time he’s had in years. But what happens when the fun and games start to turn into something real?

Delightfully sexy and sweet, Holiday knows how to deliver the perfect combination of sexual tension and happily-ever-after.
Jane and Cameron were just delightful. He’s a good guy convinced he’s bad, and she’s a thrill seeker convinced she’s only good for being safe and responsible. They bring out the best in each other and this book was alternatively sweet and sexy, and made my heart so happy.
A run romance that touches on some serious subjects like PTSD. A great start to Jenny Holiday’s Bridesmaid Behaving Badly series!
I’m a huge fan of Jenny’s and have been for years. The first book in her Bridesmaids Behaving Badly series doesn’t disappoint! There’s nothing better than a bridezilla with an agenda, and the chaos it brings. The chemistry between Jane and Cameron is hot and I couldn’t get enough of it.
One and Only by Jenny Holiday is book One in the Bridesmaids Behaving Badly series. This is the story of Jane Denning and Cameron MacKinnon.
Jane is doing her best to help her best friend with her wedding but her friend is turning into a bridezilla so when her friend asked her to take charge of the future groom’s brother…she goes for it. It has to be a better job than what she is doing now…right? Nope, Cameron just got back from being
deployed and is looking to let loose. But he is having a hard time getting into trouble with ‘Miss Strait Pants’ keeping an eye on him. But he soon learning that making her unsettled is better than anything else he could do.
Loved their story! One you can’t put down for sure!
The grumpy one falls for the sunshine one. Jane is one of my favorite heroines and watching Cam fall is pure joy. Fans of wedding stories and geek culture will adore this book.
4.5 stars
One and Only is a drama-filled tale that is certain to keep you enthralled from start to finish. With a lovable cast of characters, engaging plot, and toe curling romance on every page this one is a romance readers dream read, I loved it! Definitely my favorite of the series! Highly recommend!
This was enjoyable overall, but there were certain things that rubbed me the wrong way. I’m giving this 3.5 out of 5 stars.
I loved Jane! I felt a kinship with her, and I think we’d get along fantastically in real life. Cameron grew on me; I really liked him by the end, but I thought he was a real jerk in the beginning (to put it nicely). Some of the things he thought were awful!
We got to see more of the quartet of friends from the prequel along with a few sections with Jay. I liked Elise in her novella, but man was she a Bridezilla in this; I wanted to smack her on at least a few occasions. I enjoyed the fact that even though Jane’s best friend was Wendy, she grew closer to Gia after they endured Elise together. I totally called the couple in the next book, and I’m excited to read it.
There was one part in the book where I thought it was foreshadowing something, but there was no mention of it after that, so maybe it’ll come to fruition in book two. I liked Jenny’s writing style, but I’ll be honest…it took me a little time to get used to it. It was different than anything I’ve read before, and while I enjoyed it, I’m not sure who I’d recommend this series to. One final note: the cover models look nothing like the people I pictured based on the descriptions in the book.
I needed a palate cleanser and this did the job admirably! I found myself enjoying it a little more than I thought I would, which was a pleasant surprise. The plot was simple enough and I knew the general direction it would go but it had deeper moments that I appreciated. It wasn’t too heavy but it wasn’t pure fluff, either; it struck just the right balance and that’s quite the accomplishment.
Jane was such an entertaining character. I loved her spirit and spunk and willingness to keep trying despite her fears or reservations. And there’s something about her being an author that was wildly appealing. All the characters were great, actually. They were very distinct and I could see other storylines spinning off in the future.
I think there was a bit of a missed opportunity with the cover here. The woman, presumably Jane, doesn’t seem like her at all. I mean, she’s wearing heels. And while there is a lot of body-positivity in the story, this woman cheapens it. She doesn’t look like Jane is described and that’s disappointing to me.
All in all, it was a good, quick read! I’d recommend it to anyone who:
– needs a palate cleanser
– wants some uplifting, feel-good entertainment
– enjoys romance novels
I adored One and Only! I loved everything I got from the funny to the flirty to the sweet. I loved Cam and Jane and this great group of girls that were introduced. It was a truly wonderful read!
A fun read that makes it hard to put the book down.
Great read. Thanks.
A great read, was really enjoyable
I really enjoyed this one. What some people will to get out of bridal party duties. This was very entertaining and fun.
Good story, but Infelt that Jane was a bit immature.
When Elise (the bride-zilla) found out about her fiance’s brother who is a trouble maker, Cameron’s sudden arrival, she needs someone to stop him or take care of him just until the wedding. And there’s no one better than Jane, herself, to do the job of making sure Cameron stays out of trouble.
I got to feel the thrill in experiencing Canada – from CN Tower’s EdgeWalk to Niagara Falls, to Canada’s Wonderland.

Elise Maxwell is loving her first Christmas with her husband, Jay Smith. So far, newlywed life has been filled with laughter and lots of steamy marital “bliss.” But when Elise discovers she’s accidentally, against-all-odds pregnant, happily-ever-after screeches to a halt. Although she sees it as a Christmas miracle, Elise knows her new husband might not agree…
Jay never wanted to be a father. In fact, he’s avoided it his entire life, worried he’d repeat the patterns of his own messed-up childhood. He’s madly in love with Elise and, until now, he thought they were on the same page about not having children. But her surprise pregnancy changes everything. Elise is suddenly committed to parenthood, and Jay knows he can’t lose her. Facing his deepest fears will be difficult, but with a little holiday magic, Jay might be able to prove to Elise that – as a family – they’re destined to live merrily ever after.
Review:
So after reading “Once Upon A Bride” I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this story and catch up with Jay and Elise. For the most part they have been on the same page about no kids but Elise ends up pregnant. Talk about intense. I didn’t know what was going to happen. My heart was hurting for both of them because they have issues with their families. I could also understand where Jay was coming from as well. I was really torn and couldn’t pick a side to be on.
“So keep remaking me, Elise. Both of you. Keep remaking me.”
Even though this book was a novella it packed a huge punch and Holiday knocked it out of the park! I really connected to the characters in this story. I love the bond these ladies have and are there for each other through good times and bad. I can’t wait for Gia’s book next year but I must admit I will be sad when this series is over.

USA Today bestselling author Jenny Holiday’s hilarious prequel to her acclaimed Bridesmaids Behaving Badly series!
Jay Smith likes to be in control. His every choice, every move, is made with his carefully planned future in mind. Sure, some people think that’s boring. But Jay knows who he is, and he makes no apologies for it. So when the lobby in his accounting firm needs a makeover, Jay takes charge—and quickly determines he needs a designer. What he does not need is a woman who tempts him to break all his long-held rules.
Elise Maxwell needs this job. After cutting off her overbearing, old-money family, she’s determined to establish a successful design business—all on her own. Independent for the first time in her life, Elise isn’t looking for a boyfriend. She certainly doesn’t want someone telling her what to do.
Until she meets Jay…
Review:
I loved this story on how Jay and Elise first met! Novellas are usually hit or miss for me and when its over I’m not always left satisfied. I’m happy to report this was a good read and Jenny Holiday laid a good foundation for the other books with this story. Elise was trying to find her footing and I loved that she wanted to be independent and she was very assertive. Jay took me by surprise in this story because he wasn’t as uptight like i thought he was in “One and Only” and there’s a nice sexy side to him as well. This was a well written novella and I’m so excited to read “Merrily Ever After” and catch up with Jay and Elise.
About the Author:
Jenny Holiday started writing in fourth grade, when her awesome hippie teacher, between sessions of Pete Seeger singing and anti-nuclear power plant letter writing, gave the kids notebooks and told them to write stories. Most of Jenny’s featured poltergeist, alien invasions, or serial killers who managed to murder everyone except her and her mom. She showed early promise as a romance writer, though, because nearly every story had a happy ending: fictional Jenny woke up to find that the story had been a dream, and that her best friend, father, and sister had not, in fact, been axe-murdered.
From then on, she was always writing, often in her diary, where she liked to decorate her declarations of existential angst with nail polish teardrops. Eventually she channeled her penchant for scribbling into a more useful format. After picking up a PhD in urban geography, she became a professional writer, spending many years promoting research at a major university, which allowed her to become an armchair astronomer/historian/particle physicist, depending on the day. Eventually, she decided to try her hand again at happy endings—minus the bloodbaths. You can follow her on twitter at @jennyholi and @TropeHeroine or visit her on the web at jennyholiday.com.

My Review:
This was my first time reading anything by this author and I’m happy to report it was a success!! I’ve been in a slump since my last read so this makes my bookworm heart so happy that the slump is finally over!
Jane is a bridesmaid in her friend, Elise wedding and she’s tasked with babysitting the grooms younger “bad boy “brother, Cameron. Elise is afraid Cameron will get in trouble before the wedding and ruin her big day. So Jane being the good friend that she is volunteers to help. What she didn’t expect was to be taken by surprise when Cameron isn’t as bad as everyone made him about to be.
That’s what I loved so much about this book. Each character had hidden layers underneath and we discovered them while we read. Cameron was very misunderstood in this story and it annoyed me that people just jumped to wrong conclusions when it came to him and never really gave him a chance. I loved that Cameron was a reader as well.
Jane on the outside seemed liked she had it all together but she has been burned several times and is afraid to take risks. Throughout this story we see Jane come out of shell and it was fun to watch as I can see myself as Jane in many ways. I also liked that Jane attend Comic-Con as I attend those conventions as well.
Cameron and Jane were definitely a case of opposites attract and I love these kinds of stories! It was well written, fun, steamy and I enjoyed the friendship between the ladies and I can’t wait to read the next book!
When opposites attract friction unites in this amazing romance and believable characters will hold you in place until you reach the end. A must read.
One and Only is FANTASTIC! A great start to a new series. Compelling characters, tons of heat, loads of heart. I highly recommend!
This is my first time reading anything by this author and I really enjoyed it.
Jane is a bridesmaid in her friends wedding and is asked to babysit the groom’s younger brother. She was not looking forward to babysitting Cameron after hearing things about him. She was glad he wasn’t as bad as she thought he would be.
I really liked these characters. Cameron and Jane were complete opposites but perfect for each other. This was such a fun fast paced story that I really enjoyed. I am looking forward to reading the next book.
