EXCERPT
My uncle, George, is the chief of police, and he’s not exactly enthusiastic about my tendency to pry into situations that are none of my business, as he reminds me all the time. So, no surprise when he arrives a half-hour later and the first words out of his mouth are: “How did you manage to get yourself mixed up in another murder?”
“Murder …? “It’s not like the idea hadn’t crossed my mind, but I was sincerely hoping this was an accident.
“We can’t be positive, but according to the initial findings of the investigation, the way the body was positioned does not indicate an accident. Are you all right?” he enquires, more gently.
Uncle George sees Emma and me pretty often since we’re friends with his daughter, Isabella. Deep down, he cares about us more than he lets on.
“Don’t worry,” I answer with a reassuring smile.
“I know you—so of course I’m worried. Danny, you’re responsible for her. I don’t want her getting all tangled up in this as usual.”
“I can promise nothing,” Danny answers, but I’m not in the mood to laugh.

Our heroine is a blog writer that likes to do a bit of sleuthing on the side. This time it starts with a body in the woods…
This is the second book in the series and it works just fine as a standalone. Everything you need to know is presented pretty quickly. Of course, if you enjoy the book as much as I did, you will want to read the first one eventually.
The story features a detailed setting and well developed characters, coupled with a highly enjoyable plot. The story is well written and easy to read, while the plot has plenty of twists and turns to both keep you engaged and guessing at the same time. I particularly liked out heroine with her quirky sense of humor and easy going nature. The rest of the cast is fun as well and I enjoy getting to know them a little more in this book. Overall, it was a wonderful read and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
Highly recommended.

This charming blog writer is surrounded by amazing friends and a quaint and charming, yet quirky, town.
Bizarrely, she seems to have a penchant for murder – well for uncovering bodies, motives, and stumbling into revelations that ultimately help solve the murders.
Nothing like a family member, and high ranking police officer, saying something along the lines of: you found a body? Again?
Read on to enjoy how some small town charms work for and against her – just like some residents!

I enjoyed Once Upon a Winter Night – a short mystery. These is some great character development in the story. I hope there will be more than two books with these characters as I was not ready to see them gone! The mystery has a few twists. Since the book is relatively short I was able to read it in one sitting which was good because I did not want to put it down!
Enjoyed the story and the characters.
I loved this story. It’s impossible (or I found it so) to dislike Ally’s determination to thwart all the men in her life trying to stop her from investigating the corpse found at the fair. The character development is on point, the story has enough twists to avoid boredom or tedium, and, because it’s short, it’s like a really really tasty snack – leaving you wanting more. This is a mystery that will leave you feeling happier than you were at the start.
