When a modern princess falls in love with her bodyguard, a royal fairy tale turns dangerous.ONCE UPON A TIME, there was a beautiful princess. Flicka von Hannover lived an enchanted life. She jetted around Europe staging charity events with friends, had married a handsome prince in the most spectacular royal wedding of the 21st century, and should have lived happily ever after. But then she found … after.
But then she found the handsome prince in bed with a duchess. And then a coffee shop barista. And then her own goddamn secretary.
Finally, the prince did the unthinkable, and the beautiful princess ran away.
The prince didn’t want to let her go. He couldn’t take his throne without her and sent henchmen to take her back to the castle. Her worried royal brother sent people to look for her, too.
The prince threatened her. He said that if the princess contacted her brother or any of her friends for help, he would kill her brother and her brother’s new, pregnant wife.
So the princess ran to the only person she could trust, a man who was frankly not a handsome prince.
Dieter Schwarz had been Flicka’s bodyguard for years. He had protected her from assassins, kidnappers, and high school dates who got too handsy after a few drinks. He was a sharp-witted, sharp-jawed, hard-muscled former Swiss Special Forces operator who had started his own private security firm, Rogue Security, and had no past that he spoke of.
No one knew that he had been her first lover and broken her heart, but he’s the only one she can trust now.

It was an interesting book. I did not like that it continued to other books.
The first book in the series. You won’t want to miss the entire series. Loved them all.
Another amazing and exciting book from Blair Babylon. From the first page I was sucked into this book. I liked the POV’s from both Flicka and Dieter, which told me I was in for an amazing ride. I liked both characters from previous books.
Flicka is a strong character, and you learn why from some of her back story. I hope in future books we learn more about Dieter’s past. There is a lot going on in this book, and a twist I didn’t see coming.
I recommend this book to anyone who has read the Rae and Wulf books, you won’t be disappointed.
Great story and series I loved it
There are several books to this story. Be prepared to get all of them. This is one of Blair Babylon’s best series.
I didn’t know when I started this book that it was the first of a 5 book serial.
My fault for just assuming it was a series.Gotta tell you by the end of the first book I was hooked and bought each and read each and enjoyed the characters and the
drama/thriller page turner romance.
I enjoyed the FIRST book in this series. Just wish I knew there are a total of FIVE before I will get to the ending.
A true disappointment! One that you just keep reading waiting for it to get better or thinking the end will be near and at least it will be over only to find that it is continued in another book? Absolutely one of the most disappointing reads ever – sorry to have not stopped reading early on and definitely not going to continue reading to find out what happens! YUCK!!!
In my opinion this is a set up book for the rest of the series. What this book did was go over many things from the previous series Billionaires in Disguise Wulf and Rae, Rock Stars and Billionaires Xan and Georgie. Many characters from previous books. Once Upon a Time did fill in some missing pieces from other books also. For the most part I enjoyed this book, but sometimes I felt it was rehashing things I already knew. I do understand Blair Babylon was trying to set this book as a standalone story, this was for possible new readers. In my opinion this book did not flow very smoothly it was choppy. With everything I have said I can’t wait for the rest of the series. This is not the easiest story to read but I think it should be read for new and old readers.
Contrary to the other reviews I’ve ready I found this book difficult to warm up to. I personally don’t like books that switch back and forth between views. Almost gave up numerous times as it was confusing and slow to develop. Many important details were never fully explained and should have been more fully explained as part of the story rather than side notes – ie. the background on the relationship with their father, break-ups, decisions about marriage boundaries, etc.). I’m getting the impression this could have been edited so that it was a single book and didn’t end in a cliff hanger.
This book made me laugh, it made me cry, and it made me root for the characters. This book was one of the best.
The characters and mystery are wonderful in this story. A great read.
Really liked this book. Didn’t know that it was a series.
Kept me reading, and of course, a cliff hanging end
I’m true B. Babylon fashion this ends with a cliffhanger. It starts with a princess who married a prince. But the prince is a true frog. Her bodyguard must step up to keep her safe. But it’s what happens when the sparks they kept from each other that finally ignite. To see if they get they happy ending you must read two more books.
I prefer “standalone” Despise being set up to buy one more installmet to get satisfaction for a story. As a rule, once an author does that< I won't buy any moreof their books.. The story, as far as it went was very well written and intertaining.
This is book 1 in a series following the same 2 main characters. It IS a cliffhanger which I didn’t know and was annoyed by. Also, the lack of steam (excepting flashbacks) was disappointing. However, this series really sucks you in! I finished this one, along with the 2 sequels, and am waiting for the book that I hope isn’t the finale. The characters are well done with lots of unexpected details shared as each story progressed.
Love crosses all lines .
Loved it
Couldn’t get into this book. I didn’t finish the book
