ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.
Friends to lovers is one of my absolute all time favourite tropes in a romance novel. I was definitely intrigued with Ally and Miller from their parts in Once Upon a Real Good Time, and boy oh boy, was I right to want to know them.
This book was HOT. Sizzling. The build up, the banter, just everything about these two is amazing. The anticipation was killing me. And when they’re together? Holy moly wow, hot as hell!
I absolutely ADORE both Miller and Ally and I want to be friends with them in real life. The friendship they have is fantastic, and they both have a lot of love for their respective families, and understand the values of family and friendship.
I also totally understood the whole “do we?” or “don’t we?” concept of whether or not they should take their relationship to the next level. As a reader you are totally hoping this will happen, and that these guys will just out their feelings for each other, but the way they take it easy with each other is great as well.
I enjoyed all the secondary characters in this book, of course we get Cam and Mack and Sam from book 1, but we also get Miles and Ben, who I am now keen to read about in book 3.
Overall this was a really fantastic read that I highly recommend. A tonne of anticipation and build up, some hella sexy times and some just swoony/cute times as well. Loved it!
5 STAR Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Lauren Blakely is amazing. She really is the queen of rom-com. I love the Hart boys. This is Miller and Ally’s story. I loved every second of this story.
Miller wants to get the band back together. Needing a new female singer, he starts the audition process. Ally would never have been on Miller’s radar before, but now, the new Ally is putting herself out there. I loved watching these two transition from best friends to more. I loved watching this relationship become so much more. I loved watch them fall.
This story was so much more than I was hoping for. I loved this story. I loved laughing my way through this book. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Ally and Miller have crooned their way straight into my heart. Ally is taking it moment by moment and day by day. Raising her niece and doing her audiobook voice overs has become pretty much all she has the time for. She misses the feeling that accompanied singing and wishes she had that back, but without her brother it feels slightly hollow. When her bestie Miller tells her that he is finally going to get back out there and get himself a new band and this time he is looking to sing with a woman she is struck with and idea… Why not them. Of course in the past they have never been able to find the harmony but she is sure they can work it right! Miller needs the feeling of the creativity to course through him again. He misses his brother and the Heartbreakers more than he can say, but there is no going backwards. When he puts out feelers to start something new with a decidedly female spin, he is shocked when Ally tosses her hat in the ring. He would love to make music with her but they have never been able to mesh. As they sing and dream it’s obvious that Miller wants to make more than music with his bestie Ally. She’s never been a one night girl and he’s not sure he’s ready to possible ruin what they have, but sometimes you just have to face the music.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book
Lauren Blakely scores another heartwarming hit with Once Upon a Sure Thing. This 2nd book in the Heartbreakers series is a bit lighter than book 1 but I’m happy to report it is just as wonderful. This time around it’s Miller Hart’s turn as his bestie in Ally begins to become more to him than just good friends. As their personal and professional lives start to meld, there’s no time like the present to finally claim the woman of his dreams. The one he’s longed for these past 6 years. And may I say, he does it with a ton of heart and true devotion. The definitive M.O. for a Blakely boy.
I just loved how their easygoing relationship is full of that great banter Blakely is known for. And it’s always a smart kind of wit that has both Miller and Ally ready to keep the fun and flirty texts and conversations going. They have a sure rhythm that only makes their pairing that much more inevitable.
Their unexpected leap into singing together is a shock to both of them but damn, those recording sessions are pure sex. The longing is wildly apparent to everyone around them and it’s only a matter of time before they act upon it and find their way to each other as friends, lovers and soulmates.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself with this easy-going read that made me smile with every turn of the page. The loyalty that these Hart brothers exhibit is a thing of beauty. I love that they have each other’s backs no matter what and that they are willing to sacrifice a bit of themselves just so the other can have a chance at happiness. I also love the single parent secondary theme that is present in this series. The Author takes great care in showing that a parent’s love and responsibility will always come first, and she gratefully pairs each couple beautifully, giving said single parent a partner that will love that child just like their own. It adds a touching element that only made me fall harder for Miller.
In addition, there is a great little surprise at the end of this book that will hopefully continue through with book 3, which will be Miles’s and Roxy’s story. We get an extra epilogue that is perfect (as usual) and it made me very happy.
Once Upon a Sure Thing is sweet and sexy and utterly charming. I happily give this book a solid 5 stars!
4.5 Stars!!
What a fun friends to lovers romance. Miller and Ally make this such an enjoyable read. You can tell that they would do anything for each other. The flirtatious banter between these two friends just a hint at how comfortable they are with each other in their lives.
Miller has decided its time to scratch the music itch that’s been nagging at him. While searching for his singing partner best friends Miller and Ally find that there’s a bit more to their relationship when Ally auditions to sing.
You can definitely feel the chemistry radiating between these two. Lauren let’s it simmer under the surface waiting for the right time to spark the flame. Holy hotness when she does. Miller is straight up sexy! His sweet nature and dirty mouth are enough to send Ally into orbit.
Ally goes all in with Miller but than her inner conflict between heart and head makes her weary. Will taking this next step with Miller ruin their years of friendship or be the foundation of a great relationship?
Go grab your copy of Once Upon a Sure Thing and find out.
Once Upon a Sure Thing is the second book in the Heartbreakers series by the ever-talented Lauren Blakely. It can be read as a standalone but I do highly recommend reading Once Upon a Real Good Time. That is where I was introduced to Miller, the middle brother to Campbell and Miles aka The other Heartbreakers/bandmates. I also got a glimpse into his friendship with Ally. Thank you Lauren for not making us wait long for their story.
Miller and Ally have been best friends since the day they met six years ago. It was an instant kind of friendship that has meant everything to them. They are each other’s rocks. Their first phone calls with happy or sad news. They have never crossed the line to anything more than a close friendship until now…
Ally wants a challenge. Miller wants to start a new band. She wants in. He doesn’t want to ruin their friendship. Being a duo could do exactly that especially since he has been thinking about her in a different light lately. A light that wants her naked. Under him. Bent over a desk. In the shower. Anywhere and everywhere. Mixing business with pleasure is a bad idea. Right? Even if they sound amazing in the studio. The chemistry is off the charts hot. Everyone else sees it as well. They would be epic on stage but is it worth the risk?
Ally is used to Miller’s naughty banter so why does it seem different now. Like he is directing it toward her and not just him being Miller, the natural flirt. It is making her head spin. Not only because of the new way he is looking at her but the way she feels when she is around him. Hot and bothered. She always knew her best friend was gorgeous, sweet, protective, and an all-round amazing guy but this is different. She wants the challenge of something new but can they make music together in and out of the bedroom and keep their friendship?
Omg…this book! It is everything I love about a Blakely book. The banter. The fun. The heat. The passion for their careers. The passion for each other. The family bonds. The sweet goodies. I loved Miller in the first book but I fell hard for him in one. And Ally! She is rockstar in every sense of the word. She really is. Together, they made me laugh, cry, and flushed.
Overall…I love Miller & Ally! They are flirty, sexy, fun, and they make me want to blast my music. It really does make everything better.
P.S. I have my own rockstar named Ally and she cracks me up daily. Love that kid.
Quotes:
“I don’t understand why there are so many ribbons.”
Miller leans in close and whispers, “The better to tie you up with, my pretty.”
Singing with her is the cruelest torture, and it’s killing me not to grab her and yank her against me during every verse.
“Let’s pretend it’s two in the morning,” he whispers against my mouth.
5 #Hotstuff Stars!
I am a huge fan of friends to lovers romance and I absolutely loved Ally and Miller’s story! They have been best friends for over six years and have suppressed their feelings of attraction. Now that they have a chance to sing together, their chemistry ignites, and makes it impossible to ignore. There is so much at stake for them, and others if they fail, but they’re powerless to resist any longer. Ally and Miller are both great characters. They are kind, thoughtful, funny, and love their families completely. Ally is raising her niece after the sudden loss of her sister, and is totally devoted to her. Miller has been there for them both from the beginning, unconditionally. Their relationship has always been natural and easy. But now that they discovered their voices are perfect together, that easiness has turned into something more passionate, and powerful. Wow, the heat that Blakley creates between Ally and Miller is so palpable it leaps right off the page! I loved the evolution and allure of their relationship, it was totally captivating. The quick wit and banter between them and their friends and family is as fun as ever. I loved all the pop culture references making this story even more entertaining. It was fun catching up with the characters from the first book and getting to know their brother Miles as well. This is a delightfully sweet and steamy romance and series! I can’t wait for Miles and Roxy’s story next!
Wow! This series are just what this weekend called for! Miller and Ally were everything and so much more in Once Upon A Sure Thing. I could not take my eyes off this story, it is soooo good. I though Campbell’s story was through the roof. But Holy hell, Miller brings it! I though it was in the cards for Miller and Ally becoming a musical duet. When I got towards the end of the story, Ally gives Miller more. She gives him his dream. It was so great!
Once Upon A Sure Thing was more than I could imagine. The banter with these two. The underlying chemistry had me wishing for more. I loved it all. From the book cover down to the end of this HEA! I cannot wait until we get into Miles story and see if Roxy is the woman to bring him to his knees. One can only hope! I love the hart brothers.

I loved Miller and Ally’s personalities, and the close friendship and deep connection they shared together. Their chemistry was off-the-charts smoking HOT, and I loved how their relationship progressed throughout. Dual point of view is my absolute favorite, and it was amazing to read Once Upon A Sure Thing from both Miller and Ally’s perspectives. I loved Miller and Ally’s easy, playful, and witty banter together, and all of their interactions with each other. Lauren Blakely also created a fantastic and lovable cast of secondary characters that you couldn’t help but fall for. Once Upon A Sure Thing was a steamy, hilarious, swoon-worthy, and entertaining standalone romantic comedy MUST READ from Lauren Blakely, and I would HIGHLY recommend it and the rest of the Heartbreakers series! Lauren Blakely did an outstanding job with Once Upon A Sure Thing, and it has definitely been my favorite romantic comedy from her so far. “Let me just kiss you for a while.”
Once Upon a Sure Thing by Lauren Blakely is chock-full of sexy, sweet, and swoony GOODNESS! Miller and Ally are two people you will want to root for instantly. Their chemistry and their banter in their friendship felt easy and light, but everything changes when they start singing together. Emotions and bonds grow, vulnerabilities are shared, the line they thought they drew a long time ago…shattered. Six years is a long time staying in the “friend-zone”. The chemistry is there. The admiration is there…the respect…their hearts are even in the game. It’s their head, their mind that’s getting in the way of their happily ever after. They might have entered into a temporary arrangement, but neither of them are paying attention to the clock when the music is between them.
If you’ve read my reviews in the past, you know that I think Lauren Blakely is an absolute powerhouse in the romance genre. Ally and Miller’s beautiful love story proves that to be correct. She brings us page after page, chapter after chapter of love, laughter, sex, and romance. It’s the perfect combination and the perfect recipe for a bestselling romance read. If you haven’t experienced your happy place in a while, GRAB THIS BOOK…or grab anything by this author because she will take you there with such ease, you won’t even remember a time when weren’t on cloud nine reading this woman’s words…getting absolutely lost in her beautiful storytelling.
If you thought Campbell and MacKenzie were sweet and cute and totally realistic in Once Upon A Real Good Time, the first book in the ‘Heartbreakers’ series, then you’ll be blown away to find out that Miller and Ally are even more so in Once Upon a Sure Thing, the second book of this 3 parter series.
Ally and Miller have known each other for over six years and all that time each has harbored deep, lustful feelings for the other, but neither let the other know. Ally needed all the friends she could get back then and she knew that Miller wasn’t a guy that wanted to settle down. She chose friendship over a one night stand.
Now, she’s the guardian of her sister’s child and doing her utmost to give Chloe the best life she can have. When the chance arises to sing in a duo with Miller, she jumps at it, but she knows Miller will take some convincing as they’ve sung before and haven’t exactly gelled. So, she decides to apply under a pseudonym and with the help of some friends she blows him away with her stunning voice and equally stunning looks.
Honey Lavender is just what Miller was looking for in a singing partner, he’s having the time of his life during their set, but as soon as he meets her eyes, he knows exactly who Honey is. How did he not years ago see what he was seeing now? This is the girl to make music with.
Miller doesn’t know what to do with the attraction he feels, it’s so spontaneous and sparked between them the second he touched Ally. They set the sound booth on fire and now that they’ve started, can they go back to what they once were.
Just friends… or can they really have it all. Love, life and music.
I didn’t think this series could get any better, but I was wrong, soo, so wrong. Miller is such a great guy, all he wants is to make Ally and her niece Chloe happy and to sing. Anytime, anywhere and with however wants to get down a jam a tune with him. But, he has one true desire and Ally knows what it is. Giving him what he’s been longing for was one of the best parts of the scorching hot, sweet and sexy story. Lauren really knows how to write families and I just adored these ones. the Harts, the Zimmermans and their friends. Just simply the best yet!!!
Can’t wait for Miles and Roxy’s book, but thankfully it’ll be here in just a couple of weeks.
Mr. Cool is losing his head and his heart over his best friend. Lauren Blakely is back with another scrumptious tale of heart, humor and friendship. One sexy bachelor as clueless as they come is about to get a wake up call in a most delightful way. Once Upon a Sure Thing appeals to the senses but lives in your heart. Temptation thrives on emotion and Blakely seems to get that. Miller and Ally are the sweetest blend of saucy and salty. They have that candy coated center, but the drama lies in getting through the tough shell. Past hurts, present fears and doubtful forevers are steadily dog their heels. Can their long standing friendship survive these feelings that they have? Lauren Blakely is always on point when it comes to matters of the heart.
Well this book was a sure thing for 5 stars!!! I absolutely adore this story and Miller & Ally! These two have been best friends for 6 years and never once thought of how good they might be together as more than friends, or have they? Miller has always been there for her and her niece Chloe and Ally has been there for him too. When Ally shows up to audition to sing with him as an alter ego she has created things take a sexy turn in their friendship. They are magical together and their chemistry is simply electric, so besides singing together they decide on a short term friends with benefits arrangement and feelings escalate pretty quickly. Ally & Miller make amazingly beautiful music together in and out if the bedroom!
Miller is sweet, sexy and hot and quite the dirty talker and Ally clearly has a sex kitten side she is now having a blast exploring with Miller; case in point, the menu. Love that scene!
I love everything that happens at the end of this book and especially those epilogues! Talk about a extremely happy ending! Gah I just love it all so much!!! I’m still smiling!!!
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author…I love these heartbreakers..So this is Millers story, he was a part of the trio Heartbreakers and due to a tragic loss years ago the group broke up but it has always stayed in his heart, so as his life goes on it has a giant whole in it something is missing. Campbell his older brother encourages him to start singing again, but this time with a woman and start a duet, he thinks that that may be the answer since he loves singing so much, but now he has to find the other half. Enter Ally, she is Miller’s best friend has been for years and even though they are both attracted to each other they do not want to mess that up, Ally is a singer but for some reason they sound horrible together but she was a little jealous thinking of him singing with another woman and so she concocts a plan..These two were great together not only singing but with their relationship….Hot my friends and it was great reading of the previous characters who play a good amount of time in this book..Now we need Miles story!!!. enjoy!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of the author in exchange for an honest review**
I’m a Lauren Blakely fan and have been for some time, but I do believe that this trio of brothers that she has created for the Heartbreakers series are some of the best she’s introduced and this might just be my favorite series of hers yet.
We met best friends Miller and Ally in Once Upon A Real Good Time and while you can enjoy this book without having read that one, it would help as you get to know some of the other characters that are along for the ride in this one. Plus, it was awesome, so you should read it!
For six years Miller and Ally have been through everything together – highs and lows, boyfriends and girlfriends, and the bond and love they have for one another is obvious to everyone around them. When Miller decides he wants to start a new band, Ally decides she’s going to submit a video for the audition, but little does Miller know it’s her at first.
As the two of them embark upon this new singing partnership, they are put into situations that makes both of them take stock of how they really feel about the other person. Their chemistry is undeniable and they are so comfortable with one another and can banter with the best of them. They are sweet and sexy without even really realizing it. As their attraction continues to grow, so do the concerns about whether or not their friendship can survive. But isn’t the saying love is friendship on fire?!
The was a fantastic friends to lovers story and what I loved is that Blakely stayed true to the characters the whole way through. They had challenges they had to work around, but the way they were resolved felt natural to the relationship that Miller and Ally had always had. It didn’t feel forced or overdone and the friendship was always front and center.
I was intrigued by this duo when I was reading the first book in the series and it did not disappoint! I can hardly wait to see how Miles’ book unfolds. I have no doubt it will be as amazing as the first two have been!
I’m a sucker for friends-to-lovers romances. This was everything I love about them. Funny, sweet and sexy. Great banter between Ally and Miller. An amazing kid and great friends. I could go on and on. I definitely see myself rereading this in the future when I need a pick me up.
Heartbreakers is a series of stand-alones about 3 brothers and once again Lauren Blakely has shown why she is the queen of romantic comedy with this best friends to lovers funny romance. This series has characters you will fall in love with, you will laugh with them and you will feel their pain because as always these guys are easy to connect with. Miller is easy to swoon over he has a sense of humour a dirty mouth and he loves music and it’s his love of music that has him looking for a girl to sing with what he doesn’t expect is for his perfect singing partner to be his best friend Ally under the alias of Honey Lavender one hot song has sparks flying, the chemistry is sizzling and the witty banter adds the perfect amount of humour to this book that I couldn’t put down. Its fast paced yet the romance is a slow burn with two friends juggling the should we or shan’t we take our feelings to the next level and what can I say about Miller and his dirty mouth apart from this author has hit the nail on the head with Miller and Ally’s romance but it’s not just about them who can forget the adorable little girl that Ally is responsible for because she has some classic one liners that you won’t forget, just when you think you have read the best from this very talented author bam she hits us with another set of characters we will fall in love with and now we are left waiting for a few more weeks to see where we are going to be taken with Miles and Ben’s story and I for one can’t wait for that one.
A fantastic, fun and flirty read. Miller and Ally have been best friends for six years. Then a chance to sing together changes everything… I loved their chemistry and their naughty banter. Definitely a must read in this series. Now I can’t wait for Miles’s story!
Are Cherry Red Skittles really Cherry flavored or is it just an illusion?
Ally and Miles have been friends for years. The initial attraction they felt quickly became a deep friendship that became a requirement to both their happiness. Through thick and thin, they have helped each other and continued as besties. That is until Miles decided to run auditions for a female singer and Ally dressed up and showed him just how sultry she could blend her voice with his. Shock! Those dormant pheromones hyped up and those lusty juices started flowing. The primal call for friends with benefits was answered and now they are both in this deep. Can best friends turn into lovers and have their friendship survive?
Exhilarating, titillating, and hot as heck! An absolute reading enjoyment! Smiled all the way through and I am re-reading it again! Don’t miss this one!
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
Can I just say, OMG I’m in love with Miller! He’s got the voice of a rock star, with a side of dirty talk only for his best friend Ally!
These two are the best of friends, but when they first met years ago he wanted to date her and she wanted to date him but didn’t think he was a long term kind of guy and she friend zoned him right from the get go!
As the guardian of her niece Chloe and is worried about always having enough for her and her job as a voice for YA audio books keeps her comfortable for now, but she wants more, so when Campbell suggests to Miller to try to do it with Ally, Miller is resistant and they decide to find a woman to sing with and have people submit auditions, when they hear the person referred to as Honey Lavender sing, Miller thinks he’s found the one, wait till he meets her!
These two have chemistry like you wouldn’t believe, and when they sing it’s literally off the charts! Follow as they try to keep this in the friend zone, but honestly how long can they keep their attraction out of the mix!
Lauren Blakely is the queen of lovable characters in my opinion, yet again making space for Miller in my heart! You still get Campbell in this book along with Sam & Mackenzie and Miles & his son Jackson! That’s why I love her stories!
The way she brings things out in these books I ask myself how does she do this!! I absolutely LOVED this one, and this series! I can’t wait for Miles story to come next!
Again I give this one like book 1 5 trillion rock stars!!! Grab it asap!!
