Piece of cake.
NOT.
Performing with the sweet, sassy and insanely wonderful Ally is like one gigantic obstacle course of challenges for my libido. And my libido is one sexy love song away from kissing her senseless and taking her home.
But, I’m not a serious kind of guy, and she’s not a one-night-stand kind of woman. If we cross the horizontal line, we might risk our sure thing and end up out of tune forever…

Ally and Miller.
They’ve been best friends for six years. They do everything together.
But they never crossed that friendship line to romance.
And now they might add co-workers to their resumé. Miller wants to go back to being a part of a band like he used to be with his brothers. But this time he wants to try a duet with a woman (mostly because his brother Campbell doesn’t want to revive the band).
Enter Ally. They tried it a few times at karaoke bars or for christmas, but he was just to rockish for her churchy voice. But she really wants this job – and the money would be nice too ….
What will happen with Ally & Miller?
Will there be a HEA?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT!
Awww, that was adorable!
Such a sweet and fun friends-to-lovers romance!
Funny, sparky, sexy, cute.
I just adored those two!
It might take them a while to be brave enough to try that romance thing. They’ve been attracted to each other since the day the met, but then they did the friendship thing and it’s too precious to risk… They just don’t want to lose their best friend.
The reader has an amazing time watching them fight for their happy end!
Really Great romance!!! I just loved Ally and Miller – and the kids and siblings and friends!
I wouldn’t mind seeing this on Netflix one day!
Can’t wait to get Miles’ story asap! And it will be almost asap – only 2 weeks until book #3!
ONCE UPON A SURE THING was such a fun and adorable & sexy & musicy love story!! Run to your nearest amazon asap for your own Miller – this one is MINE !!!
P.S. … can we take a second – or an hour – to lovingly gaze at those amazing abs on the cover!!! Grrrrr.
I am really having a great time reading this series. They are light and fully of family, loyalty and commitment. These brothers definitely know how to entertain and they have a mischievous sense of humor. I will be holding off till the end to decide which brother is my favorite but Miller is at the top so far.
Miller is a little lost since he and his brothers went their separate ways a few years ago. He has been wanting to start a new band but it has to be something special to live up to the Heartbreakers. Never in his wildest dreams did he think his best friend of six years would be that unique quality he was looking for. Ally has responsibilities she gladly undertakes but the extra money singing with Miller will no doubt come in handy. As long as she doesn’t ruin it by falling for her bestie. Famous last words.
Even though there is no huge drama or heavy angst, there are some battles these two will have to partake in to achieve their HEA. There are a few factors involved but the most important one is stability and trust. Miller is sometimes considered a child like man, but when he is given the opportunity to show his full potential, he delivers ten fold. Ally is so driven in her quest for a happy home, she nearly misses out on the best thing to evolve in her life. It is very touching how the two of them strive to make the other happy. Looking forward to read Miles’s tale.
Once Upon a Sure Thing is the 2nd book in the Heartbreakers series and again Lauren Blakely has left me smiling like a fool. I absolutely loved this best friends to lovers story. I loved so much about Ally and Millers story, it was funny, passionate, and the banter/foreplay was so damn hot!
Ally and Miller have been best friends for about 6 years and while they know they’re attracted to each other, they don’t want to risk losing their friendship for a fling. And the chemistry/connection only gets stronger when they perform together.
Omg watching these two dance around their feelings was both entertaining and extremely hot, I was literally blushing. Ally and Miller are the perfect fit. Seriously my favorite couple.
It goes without saying that Lauren Blakey is one of my favorite one clicks, she never disappoints!! Loved this book and cannot wait for the next one!!
I love a good friends-to-lovers romance, and Lauren Blakely gave readers a truly fantastic one in Once Upon A Sure Thing. I stated in my review of Once Upon A Good Time, the first book in The Heartbreakers series, that this series was poised to become my favorite from her, and she definitely took a giant step in that direction with this book. This series is everything I hope for when I reach for a romantic comedy. These stories are light and fun and so sexy, and Blakely works her magic by blending heat and humor into three-hundred pages of banter-filled, book-based reading bliss.
In Once Upon A Sure Thing, the second Heartbreaker brother, Miller, and his long-time best friend, Ally, are up in a sweet and romantic best-friends-to-lovers romance. These two characters endeared themselves to me from the start, and I enjoyed every minute of their story so much. They already had loads of natural chemistry and an obviously deep connection as friends, but it was all sparks and fire when they stepped outside of the friend-zone into a mutually—ahem—beneficial scenario. Six years of suppressed desire, six years of denied emotion, six years of unacknowledged lust bubbled to the surface in a sexy eruption when Ally and Miller took another first in their relationship and started singing together. Their charismatic performances were positively electric, and it wasn’t long before they were heating up the studio—and burning up the sheets. Blakely takes readers along for the ride as Ally and Miller navigate these new feelings and figure things out.
Once Upon A Sure Thing was a feel-good, heart-fluttering, fanning-my-face story that left me happy and smiling when I finished reading it. An addictively charming love story between two people who were clearly meant to be, Once Upon A Sure Thing was a playful and passionate story that I simply could not put down. Blakely did the impossible and left me sated by this story yet hungry for the next one. Five smooches from me for Once Upon A Sure Thing by Lauren Blakely!

A couple of friends. Best friends. Singing together sexy songs wich talking about love. What could go wrong?
After the end of the band Heartbreakers, Miller has not yet found his place in the world. His younger brother Miles is in a successful solo career, while his older brother Campbell is happy with his teaching career and his performances at a local bar.
So Miller decides to take the advice of his older brother and try something new: a duet with a female voice. After forming numerous new bands without success, having even lost a friend in college and experienced the feeling of seeing his belongings hurled by the ex-girlfriend / drummer in the middle of the street, he decides that the best in this new endeavor is not to mix business with pleasure. Or with friendship.
Ally had a YouTube channel singing with her brother and earned enough access to supplement her income as a voice actor. With the move of Kirby to Boston, she will need a new source of income. And the duet with Miller can provide the money she needs, except that apparently their voices do not match and Miller does not want to risk losing an irreplaceable person. After all, he can buy a new Xbox, but not a new best friend.
In this narrative Miller and Ally gradually become aware of the possibilities that the other part offers when contemplating it from other angles. And by discovering the new talents of each other, new feelings can arise. Or were they old feelings? And the doubt: what to do when career, friendship and feelings seem to collide? What to do when the lines got blurred?
A book with great development, good characters and funny moments. A cliche with an end full of tenderness and good unexpected surprises.
5 Taking Their Friendship to the Next Level Stars!!
Ally and Miller have been friends for years and really have never crossed that line….even though they have both thought about it independently. As changes are happening in both their lives it somewhat leaves both of them at crossroad in their lives. So what better way to move on than to taking a step that could lead to so many rewards, namely a love they’ve both been denying they feel for each other.
This friends to lovers story was such a fun read. Ally is a woman after my own heart doing whatever it takes to ensure her niece, who she’s raising as her daughter, has everything she needs. I loved the fact that she’s an audiobook narrator being a huge fan of audiobooks myself. And Miller is at a point in his life where his “little brother” has grown up and leaving him which allows him to go down a road he thought was closed.
Miller loves singing with his brothers but he really wants to sing with Ally, but is the risk of pursuing that dream worth potentially losing their friendship? These are two people who need an HEA because they seem to have everything else in their life but love!!
Ms. Blakely has a way with her rom-com’s that before I know it, I’m laughing out loud with some of the one-liners in this book. They’re smart, sassy and oh so sexy. Getting these two together is pure magic. The love they share not only between themselves but for Chloe and Jackson is pure and sweet. Having said all this, getting their HEA was not an easy journey but as we all know sometimes the best things in life are worth fighting the hardest for and this HEA is definitely worth everything!!
ARC received for an honest review
It has been a long couple of weeks since we read Once Upon A Real Good Time, and I have been sitting by my kindle waiting for One Upon A Sure Thing to get here.
We got a bit of a Ally and Miller in Campbell’s book, but what Ms Blakely has given us is so much more than I was looking for.
I am a big fan of friends-to-lovers stories. The UST between this pair is off the charts
I love how they fight for the HEA, knowing that it could end their best friend-ship if things go south. As I reader I was their biggest cheerleader, they needed to take things to the next level, if only for my sanity!
I loved the brothers/kids/friends and their banter. They made me laugh so hard at times. I need to be part of their circle!
This was just a perfect, sweet, beautiful romance that left me smiling well after I had finished it.
Now I neeeeeed Miles’ book ASAP!
Lauren Blakely certainly knows how to write a captivating, adorable, and humorous story. Her stories grab a hold of your heart from the beginning, keep you laughing, and simply make you enjoy the journey till the end. The story was cute, fun, and witty. It was a nice adventure to go on with Ally and Miller. Miller is adorably lovable, he’s a social butterfly, always cheerful, great sense of humor, he adores his family, and is an outstanding friend. What’s not to love about him? Ally and Millers friendship is beautiful, they connect on so many levels. Their chemistry is fantastic. Neither of them want to jeopardize this wonderful thing they have with each other. In my option, the best relationship starts with being friends first. I loved everything about this book.
This was a great friends to lover romance. Miller is looking for a singer and after going through so many audition tapes finds the right one and when he books the audition is amazed when Ally shows up with a wig and make up and singing different than she usually does. He is floored this is his best friend who he has had feelings for but has never acted on but now he doesn’t seems to be able to keep from acting on it. Now he has to convince her friends with benefits are what they are going to be until they figure out what they really are. These two have so much chemistry it explodes right off the audio! Definitely loved this one and now I cannot wait for the last brother to see what happens.
I really loved this one! Best friends to lovers isn’t usually my favorite trope, but I just adored Ally and I also really liked Miller. I’m giving it 4.5 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.
So I wasn’t 100% sure about Miller at first, because he was kind of like a big kid, but he was such a sweetheart, and a great friend/brother. Ally was also a sweetheart, and what she has done for Chloe was amazing. It made me love her even more. The banter, and eventually the chemistry, between these two was so entertaining to read.
I loved seeing characters from the previous book (Campbell, Samantha, Mackenzie, Roxy, etc.). And I’ve got to say, I can’t wait to get my hands on the last book in this trilogy…although I’ll be sad once I’m done reading about these characters. The books are a delight, and such easy reads. You could definitely read each in one sitting if you wanted to, and had the time.
The epilogues were super cute, and the thing that happened towards the end of the book made me super excited to see what happens next musically for the brothers. I’ve loved Campbell, and Miller, so I can’t wait to see how much I love Miles! I highly recommend you go and read these books, because they’ll make you smile and swoon.
i enjoyed this series
OMG I read this riveting and beautiful story in one sitting, it was off the charts amazing. I just love all the characters, they feel like family to me now and I absolutely love the banter too. Ally and Miller are such amazing friends, you cant help but wonder, will they or wont they?? OMGah…so much sizzling tension that lights up a room and when they sing, heaven help everyone, you could feel the connection through the words coming off the pages. If only you could actually hear the songs in the book, wouldnt that be great?? Seriously this series needs to be a film or something, so incredibly enjoyable and I cannot wait for more.
Sometimes what you’re searching for has always been in front of you!
And I thought Campbell was hot! Miller is ON FIRE! A fantastically awesome friends to lovers story. Miller at first comes off as the sweet but always looking for entertainment sexy guy, but you get to see he’s so much more. And Ally is fabulous! Smart, sassy, independent, and loving. They’re a phenomenal pair!
Delightful friends to lovers romance. Ally and Miller met six years ago and both felt sparks, but Ally was wary and ended friend-zoning Miller. Six years later the friendship has survived and flourished. Miller had been a part of a boy band with his brothers and missed that camaraderie. He decides he want to find a female singer to form a new duet. Ally had been an YouTube singing sensation with her brother, and decides to audition for Miller under a pseudonym. Of course, the end up singing together, and that spark that has been in their relationship becomes a raging forest fire. Great fun book.
Good book, left me wanting more! Had to read the whole series.
This series is so much fun to read, especially in audio. The chemistry between Miller and Ally is when they sing together.
Miller is a man-child who is charming and caring. He’s a great friend, mentor to his “brother”, and wonderful with kids. He’s the fun and heart of the family. He’s also the heart of the Hartbreakers.
Ally is her niece’s guardian and truly a wonderful mom. She’s got a great support system in Miller, her brother and his wife.
Friendship means a lot to them so taking the leap to follow the spark is far more impulsive than they want, but they are cautiously combustible. Yeah, I know. They are cautious until alone and then…fireworks!!
They find their way and is sweet and romantic and perfect!!
Once Upon a Sure Thing by Lauren Blakely
I simply can’t handle the RomComs Blakely delivers! Every single time I think ok, this is my new favorite book slash character slash trope. She hits it on the nail each and every time and I can’t get enough of them!
This is the second book in the Heartbreakers series and is all about middle brother, Miller and his best friend Ally. Miller needs a new singing partner and Ally needs a source of extra income now that her singing partner is moving away. The solution seems obvious, no? Alas, it’s not as obvious as we seem to think and that’s for a few reasons: Ally’s voice is suited to the sweet young girl vocal narrations she does and not the tones and tunes Miller belts out. Also, Miller has had a series of bad endings with previous partners and doesn’t want to ruin his friendship with Ally by becoming partners. Once Miller sees Ally in a new light, the sexual chemistry they’ve tamped down over the last six years rears its head and all bets are off.
I just love a friends to lovers romance and Lauren Blakely’s ones are my favorites. Why? I hear you ask. Well it’s simple really: she always fills her books with delicious banter, a great storyline, characters you love and root for, and gives me a HEA that leaves me smiling for hours after the last page is turned. Once Upon a Sure Thing ticks every single one of those boxes for me and I’m so looking forward to getting to know the last Hart brother in Once Upon a Wild Fling.
*I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

Love the siblings and their group of friends. Can not wait for rest of the series..
After reading the first book in the Heartbreakers Series and loving it, I was super excited to get my hands on Miles and Ally’s story. And though it started a little bit slow for me, with every single page, I was getting more and more invested. Ultimately, this is a sweet friends to lovers rom-com with a pinch of hotness 🙂
Miles and Ally are two great characters and I fell in love with them from the first book in the series. Initially, I felt that the story was going kind of slow but when they started singing together, things got completely different. Their interactions were sizzling hot but at the same time sweet and romantic. I really enjoyed seeing how they were finally realizing their feelings and struggling with the idea of change and how that would affect their friendship.
In a few words, this is a somewhat short rom-com, that will make laugh and swoon and every now and then make you feel super HOT. Because Miles might be easygoing and a lot of fun, but let me tell you, he has such a dirty mouth for the right person 😀
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
