When your best friend shows up single and beautiful, you vow never to let her go again. When Emily walked into the boathouse, I hoped she was walking back into my life. But things had changed. She had her daughter to worry about, and I…was king of a small Mediterranean country. But no matter how much she got under my skin, now didn’t seem like the time to push for anything more. Her company was … anything more. Her company was struggling, her daughter needed her and her X was trying to sneak back into her life. I had the press breathing down my neck and a cabinet who thought Emily was the last thing our country needed. When things started to fall apart, I wondered if they might be right.
Read this fun story about commitments, both large and small, and how even when it seems impossible, love conquers all.

An entertaining short enjoyable royal second chance. This engaging storyline has two reuniting after years with both damaged pasts, bumps along the road, drama and journey through difficulties to a wonderful happy ending. The characters are interesting and well developed. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC.
I prefer stories with a bit of heat but this was a well written interesting novel with strong characters. They were friends forever, she married a guy that turned out to be dangerous, the only decent thing he did was to impregnate her with a beautiful daughter, he ran. Her bff became king of a mediterranean country but their connection was so strong they never forgot each other. They reconnect & he realizes he still loves her but can he make her his queen? I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.
Rhett and Emily had been friends when they were younger, but drifted apart, and Emily moved back to the United States. Fast forward 10 years–Rhett is now King of Aegira, a small island country in the Mediterranean Sea, and Emily is divorced with a 10 year old daughter, running her family’s company. They meet again when Emily goes to Aegira for business and the skiing competition her family’s company takes part in.
This story is less about being a billionaire and more of a second-chance-at-love story. Rhett and Emily still need to work out the issue(s) that drove them apart when they were younger. Emily also has a major business problem to deal with. There were times I thought these two were on the path to working things out, but then something would happen and I’d wonder if they would just end up being really good friends.
I liked both of the main characters and I liked that the story showed them discussing the issues that plagued them in the past. Too many times, stories tend to gloss over the issue(s) of why the couple originally split up. I like when second-chance-at-love stories take time to show couples hash things out.
Rhett is king of Aegira, an island nation in Europe. Emily and Rhett were once in love but they have moved on. She had been married and the marriage had been a mistake, except that it resulted in a daughter, Lily. Emily is now running her family business and she is making a trip back to Aegira for business and for a water skiing competition.
Of course the two meet and although they regret their split, they pledge to become friends again. A crisis develops and the two become closer.
Are they going to find a way to get back together? Everyone thinks they will – and that they should, except perhaps for Rhett and Emily.
This is a fairly quick read, well written and fun. It’s clean and can be read by just about anyone who enjoys romance.
I really enjoyed this fun book. The characters were great and I loved the sweet, clean, second chance love story. The ending was also wonderful and very happy. Great book!
I received a complimentary copy of the book. All opinions are my own and are expressed voluntarily.
Emily and Rhett were childhood best friends. Their friendship grows and are committed to each other. Rhett chooses his royal duties over his love for Emily. Fast forward ten years and Emily returns to Rhett’s small Mediterranean country. The journey towards reconciliation is not all smooth sailing. This book is another entertaining and enjoyable read by Sophia Summers. Can’t wait to read book books in this exciting series.
Sophia Summers has a way of writing books highlighting everyday problems that people face. She does this with wit and charm, making her characters lovable and “human”. In this book, best friends Rhett and Emily, meet again after a decade apart. Both come with baggage. For Rhett, his life comprises the demand of being a King (although I would like to experience the baggage of being royal!). Newly divorced, Emily is juggling personal issues and family business in trouble. Although few of us face these problems, this author makes her characters feel like everyday people. How they balance love is the basis of this book. Great read with a feel-good HEA ending.
I’ve always enjoyed Sophia Summers’ books and this one is no exception. As hard as it is to believe even royal billionaires have some of the same problems as regular people. At least we don’t have to wonder if someone wants to be with us for us or for our money and/or position. As King, Rhett has to make some tough choices when his best friend, Emily, comes back into his life. Enjoyed this story.
