As director of the local animal shelter, Brooke Redding is used to being the one doing the rescuing. But when a freak winter storm endangers her animals with sub-freezing temperatures and enough snow to constitute a Mississippi blizzard, she’s in the market for a miracle.Hayden Garrow wants nothing more than to be her hero. With four-wheel drive, an empty barn, and a crush on Brooke that goes … that goes back to junior high, he’s got a plan to save all her furry charges. They’ve just got to survive icy roads, canine labor, and a pair of matchmaking octogenarians to get there.
What’s the worst that could happen in this snowbound Southern romance?
This story is a crossover with the Wishful series.
“Meet cute” is a term used to describe a situation in which a future romantic couple meets for the first time. Meet Cute Romance is a series of romantic shorts celebrating the possibilities of that first meeting.

Haden had loved Brooke since jr. high. He volunteered at her rescue shelter trying to get nerve up to tell her. Snow and ice were coming Brooke needed to find someplace to shelter her dogs. Hayden came up with a plan to save her dogs and strengthen the shelter.
Very good story. Very short but filled with love and adventure. Perfect for bedtime or morning coffee.
This is a really sweet romance set in the wonderful town of Wishful. Making a wish in the fountain in the centre of town Brooke hopes for a miracle to save the animals at her shelter, her wish is granted, maybe not in the way she expected. A winter storm allows Hayden to be Brooke’s hero and save the animals at her animal shelter from freezing. The storm also gives them the chance to fall in love.
I haven’t found a book by Nolan yet that I don’t like. This books is no exception. There is immediate chemistry between the characters and you fall in love with their overwhelming need to help. The book is short, as Nolan is kind enough to let you know ahead of time (which I appreciate). Unfortunate , it left me wanting more; which is the reason for my lack of half a star. Otherwise absolutely amazing storeline and super fast read!!!

I have been provided with a copy of Once Upon A Rescue: A Wishful Meet Cute Romance by the author via Booksprout for an impartial review. This novelette is book eight in the Meet Cute Romance series and is also a part of the Wishful Romance series. I loved getting to go back to Wishful and meet these new characters. This novelette was just such a quick and easy read that I was able to finish it in one sitting. I loved getting to meet Brooke Redding and Hayden Garrow and watch them fall in love. I just love Wishful and all of these amazing characters they just have captured my heart and refuse to release it. I can’t wait to read more by this author.
No matter what other authors I may read, or stories of other towns, my heart and thoughts, always returns to Wishful. Brooke & Hayden satisfied that sweetness I miss in a lot of reading I do these days. I loved the fact Hayden thought of Brooke and her shelter animals needs first, before himself on such a nasty day. His actions just completely swept me away. Who doesn’t dream of that!
Thanks for restoring my faith in relationships! Lovely read, only wished for more of their story. As always, I hated for it to end!

I just love, love, love heading back to Wishful and getting to be a part of the lives of the residents as they find their great loves. This return trip just so happened to be one of my favorites because it included an animal shelter. How can you not enjoy reading about 2 people falling in love while surrounded by animals.
Hayden and Brooke both liked each other. Yet, things in their lives held them back from communicating this to each other. It takes a winter storm breaking out to crack the door for these 2. When Hayden goes the extra mile to help the animals, and Brooke, things begin to come out in the open.
I got lost in this book. The only problem that I had with it was that it ended. No, not how it ended. The fact that it ended at all. I wanted to keep reading about Brooke and Hayden’s great love. I wanted to know what happened to the dogs. I wanted to hear about those storm puppies growing up. I’m sure they’ll show up in more of the future Wishful books. I just hated having to leave them for now.
I received an ARC of this book. I chose to leave my review in support of both the book and the author who wrote it. Opinions expressed are my own.
This is a wonderful, sweet meet cute romance story. It has great characters that are well developed and you can’t help but fall in love with. It takes us back to the small town of Wishful, where Brook runs the animal rescue shelter. A winter storm has her dogs in need of help and firefighter Haden steps up to help. He has had a crush on Brook since Jr High and the chemistry between them is oh so strong. I loved reading this book and recommend highly.
A wonderfully well written rescue romance story. The characters are well developed, likable and insteresting. Brooke operates an animal rescue and makes a wish at the famous town of Wishful fountain when a freak snow snorm arrives and her animals need rescuing. Haden wishful’s firefighter steps up to help rescue the animals. He has had a crush on Brooke since jr. High and this sweet romantic read has the sparks between the two igniting make me believe in fate and true love with a great epilogue.

This story was so good that I read it in just a few hours.
Kait Nolan has another winner.
Brooke and Hayden’s characters are so sweet together.
The plot is great and Hayden is a Knight to the rescue.

Once Upon a Rescue is book 8 in the Wishful Meet Cute romance by Kait Nolan. Love seeing old friends from the town of Wishful and finding new friends too!
When an unusual winter snow storm blows into Wishful, Mississippi, Brooke needs to find temporary homes for the rescue animals in the shelter she runs but isn’t having much luck. Until Hayden comes to the rescue…he has a crush on Brooke and will do what needs to be done to help the rescue shelter and get closer “hopefully” to Brooke.
Rescue animals, newborn puppies, a big barn, being stranded are just a few of the things happening in this short, sweet read!
These meet cute romances are usually sort of like favorite snack. Quick, tasty and satisfying, but they aren’t a replacement for dinner. I tend to love these as a super quick pick me up on a break at work, or to lift my mood quickly on a stressful day. Depending on how fast you read, these are usually 15-30 minute reads, and they’re NOT intended to be novels or even novellas. They’re essentially short stories with a romantic element in them—usually truly a “meet-cute” like in the movies…the first time a couple meet and make a connection and you just know that there’s going to be a story there…and sometimes the story is something you can go on to read in a full length novel and sometimes, its left up to your imagination. But like I said they are usually quick little snapshots or snippets. This one is different—it’s a more complete full story. It’s still a short story and a very quick read (fell perfectly into my lunch break, thank you Kait Nolan!) but we have not just a beginning or a tease—we have a beginning, a middle and an ending. Sure, this isn’t as meaty and full of deep content as Nolan’s full length novels—and she does tend to spoil us with riches in her full length novels—but there, she’s got the luxury of time and length. For a short story, this one hit every note for me! I really liked both these main characters a lot—and I think the storm was an excellent device to get them alone together—they knew each other already, and he’s been harboring a crush, so it wasn’t a big stretch to see the romance blossom. No love scenes, there’s not enough time, haha, but we got some kissing and I felt the chemistry and didn’t mourn too much not reading about what might have been happening offscreen during the last few pages. I always enjoy Kait Nolan’s work, her stories are warm and cozy and romantic, and this one is no exception—it’s really amazing to me what she accomplished in a little more than 100 pages! I keep these meet-cutes in their own folder on my kindle so I can quickly find them when I need a quick “hit” of romance and can’t afford to get in trouble with my “just one more page” tendencies…and this one just moved to the top of my list as my favorite. Highly recommend!

This book was cute. It was a short story and looking forward to the next part. I think it was an easier read but with purpose and a simple story. The characters made you feel like they were your own friends.

I love the premise of a “meet cute” – something that can fill in over a lunch hour or a wait at the doctor’s office – and one that offers adorable animals is a huge plus! And set in Wishful is just an added bonus. The fact that the hero has had a longtime crush and seemed to need the weather “assist” to get to his HEA, just makes it that much better in my eyes. A story full of smiles!

This review contains SPOILERS! Hayden has a crush on Brooke, but to her he’s just a volunteer at the animal rescue. That is until Hayden comes to the rescue when the dogs need a place to wait out the cold snap. She realizes he’s sweet, funny, unbelievably kind and HOT. After spending time together to take care of the animals, Brooke finally realizes what she’s been missing out on. Hayden’s crush has turned into even something more. How can he convince Brooke to take a chance on him? A very sweet meet cute. I love Kait’s Wishful and cannot wait for more.

Kait Nolan proves once again that she is the queen of wishes come true. When Brooke’s life can’t get any more hectic, along comes a knight in shining armor with his trusty steed. So, ok, it’s a horse trailer but it’s the same result. You may ask what horses have to do with puppies but you’ll just have to read the story. I love it when the good guys (and gals) get what they deserve. In this, Kait never fails. Or maybe it’s the fountain… Prepare for lots of oohs, aahs, and warm squishies but, most of all, prepare to enjoy this quickie!

This was such a lovely little book. It was a great read and full of romance and love. I loved every moment of it. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for a free copy.
I love the Meet Cute stories from Kait Nolan. In such a short time, I feel connected to the characters. Kait Nolan’s gift is writing characters that I want to know. It was just the mood pick me up that I needed this week.

Kait Nolan’s latest meet cute novelette, Once Upon a Rescue, is short and very sweet. It captures that moment of possibility and potential for more that is totally ‘meet cute’. In this case, it is a sort of discovery of what had been brewing beneath the surface of a longer acquaintance. Yummy! The writing and characters are lovely. Can easily be read in one sitting. I read an ARC of this book and freely offer this review.
