This holiday season, there’s more than gingerbread in the oven.
I was always a type-A kind of girl— and that’s exactly what got me into trouble with Sterling Ahren.
Having a baby before thirty didn’t work out, so I took some time off to sort out my life. Sterling’s my new landlord… and he doesn’t plan anything.
He’s a billionaire playboy who can’t stand the holidays. A recluse of the worst kind, … holidays. A recluse of the worst kind, Sterling makes Scrooge look like a generous soul… except Ebenezer was never this sexy.
He doesn’t want a family— until the night we have a spontaneous one-night stand, and forget to use condoms. I can’t have a baby with a disorganized, free spirit like him. Between my overprotective brothers and his crazy fans, I already know this isn’t going to work out.
Except Sterling isn’t willing to let me go. He wants me home for the holidays… and this is my last chance to make a Christmas miracle happen.
One thing I know for sure: when Sterling and I collide, it’s going to be anything but a silent night.
Funny, touching, and delightful, this smoking hot billionaire holiday rom-com by Claudia Burgoa will make you feel the magic of Christmas.

This was a great holiday read! It was a unique story with great characters. I didn’t want to put this book down once I had started it. This is June and Sterlings story, its sweet and entertaining. I loved these characters because they were so different but such a good match for each other. I would highly recommend this book!
Once Upon A Holiday is the perfect read for this holiday season! here we meet to persons who are so different to each other, Juniper is a girl with a perfect plan for her future and nothing cant mess up her plans, maybe except the grumpy Sterling who promised her a night that she cant forget and believe me she wont!
This story is a really good one, when life show you that always has surprises for you and that make you changes your plans, but maybe they are change for a good reason!
If you want to know more about what are Juniper plans, and how Sterling change them, you need to read this book as soon as is LIVE!! you will enjoy it so much and if you have read Claudia’s previous books you have already meet Juniper brothers.
Once Upon A Holiday by Claudia Burgoa is a sweet and steamy novella that brings to past secondary characters together for some Christmas magic!
Sterling Ahren – we met Sterling when he appeared in his brother Wes’ story (The Chaotic Love Duet) now he is one of the main characters and the the other main character is Juniper aka June Spearman who is the youngest sister of brothers Jason Spearman from Then He Happened and Jack Spearman from Maybe Later. This is Sterling and June’s story.
June is ready to make a huge life change when Sterling comes storming into her life. Throw in two overprotective brothers, a hot as all get out one night stand and the holidays between two families that keep the encounters that keep coming. The chemistry is sizzling and sweet. June is a woman I relate with…independent, sassy, knows what she wants and goes after it. Sterling is a playboy, rude, entitled…yet there is something that seems redeeming about him. He and June have this chemistry/connection that comes across the pages. From the beginning of the holidays til after Christmas…will Sterling and June go from one night to forever?
This is a delicious treat for the holidays. The plot is fantastic, characters are outstanding and the connection between the main characters and secondary characters are amazing. Overall, just a fabulous read!!!
My Rating: 4.5 stars *******
June and Sterling are an interesting couple. June has a plan and Sterling wasn’t a part of it. Sterling starts to be one of the few things pin her list. Neither thinks they can have the other, but when a Christmas miracle happens they may just get everything they need.
I liked the story and luckily it wasn’t too angsty which is nice. June was a good character and Sterling made himself a rockstar at the end. He went for what he wanted and didn’t back down even when his fears were there. Miscommunication happens, but luckily they don’t let it fester.
This was such a fun, sweet and not to mention steamy read! I was hooked from the very second I started reading and couldn’t put it down until I was done. I loved these characters and really enjoyed the story line. There were some laugh out loud moments and a couple serious ones. I was dying to know what exactly June was planning and loved how Sterling was ready to help her follow her dreams in any way that he could.
This is a must read book for sure!

Once Upon a Holiday was a great love story it was definitely a well written story with some really outstanding characters with a whole lot of chemistry. Two people who are so opposite from one another Sterling an artist who is so wrapped up in his work he doesn’t have time for any one then you have June who is a planner she has her whole life planned including her future family. But you know when you have plans they may not always go the way you want. This was an amazing story that has a whole lot of heart. I absolutely loved this book and I highly recommend it. A must read one book you won’t want to miss.
Such a great book absolutely loved it
June Spearman is a planner. Everything must be planned out especially in her life.
Sterling Ahern lives his life in the moment. He loves a good time, but has no intention to start a family especially with his crazy life.
When these two meet both of their lives are turned upside down.
This story was amazing. I like June and the fact that she is a planner, but in this story it shows that sometimes things happen best when they aren’t planned enter Sterling. Sterling is a good guy a bit cocky and wild. When these two meet they are explosive together. The story had some great twist & turns that lead to something amazing. I really liked this one!
Best *Laid* Plans. The biggest thing I can tell you about this book is that if you’re one of those prudes that doesn’t want hard core sex or F-bombs in your romance books… skip this one. 😉 For the rest of us, this one was actually a fun, sexy romance about things not exactly working according to plan… and yet working out for the best. Excellent story, feels like it is somewhat deep in a series and yet I don’t remember seeing anything noting that in any of the descriptions I’ve seen. So if it isn’t, it is clearly a deep world that could potentially work for one.
June has her next year planned out and all the things she wants to do until she meets Sterling. The attraction is instant and they agree to spent time together no strings attached. June doesn’t even know who Sterling is at first but will they be able to stop after they start?
4.5 Stars
This is the perfect holiday read to get into the Christmas spirit. I’m not gonna lie at the very beginning of the book I wasn’t sure of Sterling. Sterling, man he ended truly surprising me. He will make you swoon with how he is with June. It’s so heartwarming for me. Learning his back story makes me appreciate the growth he makes in this book. June is a routine and schedules kind of girl, but in this book she’s going to learn what they say about best laid plans. Sterling is so good for her because he lets her have the freedom for spontaneity and having fun. Sterling and June fit so well like puzzles pieces. What Sterling makes for June for Christmas, be still my heart. One of my favorite scenes of the book. This is definitely a must read for this holiday season!
Single June has made some life-altering decisions & is ready to move forward. She has no idea that a no-strings, fun night together with Sterling changes her life course. Truths are kept hidden, misunderstandings occur, and family members interfere when June & Sterling make decisions that changes everything they thought they wanted. Another great read from this author! Looking forward to reading more!
Holiday books are totally my jam and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every book I’ve read by Claudia Burgoa so I couldn’t pass up Once Upon a Holiday.
I love a book about a Type A planner who wants to control every aspect of everything and it’s even better when that character is paired with someone that couldn’t be more different than them- like the sort of free spirit artist that Sterling is. June is absolutely amazing. She may be the baby of her family but she has no qualms about standing up for herself to her siblings, her parents, and Sterling. I loved the strength she showed all throughout this story. So much so, that I wanted this story to go on forever.
I’m not usually a fan of novellas or oops-baby stories but this one is fantastic and made me start counting down the days until Christmas!!
Once Upon A Holiday by Claudia Burgoa is the perfect holiday romance to begin the festive season. The devout fans of Claudia’s books are in for a holiday treat when two charismatic secondary characters from several books find love in Denver, CO over the holiday season. For those readers new to Claudia Burgoa, Once Upon A Holiday is the perfect introduction to her fantastic writing.
Junie Spearman has made a life altering decision. She is a strong independent woman with a successful career, a striving business, and a great sense of self awareness. Her biological clock is ticking and personal health issues fill her with an urgency to start a family. Rather than waiting for a man or a miracle, she is taking matters into her own hands. She is gearing down her professional obligations and revving up her personal life for a new baby in the new year. One last one night fling with a sexy hot stranger over the Thanksgiving holiday is the perfect way to blow off some steam and give her one last spontaneous adventure. Little does she know her holiday’s are about to get busier than she anticipated and a lot more festive.
Sterling Ahern has always been a lone wolf living a life of seclusion in the midst of the hectic city of Denver. His notoriety and fame from being a world class artist has forced him to live behind the scenes, behind his bodyguards, and away from loved ones. When he meets a woman who makes him want more, makes him want to step out of the shadows, the only thing he can do is enjoy the spontaneity on their holiday tyrsts.
Both Junie and Sterling are going to learn that sometimes fate takes a hand and throws away their perfect lists, their imperfect structured lives, and gives them the best gift of all. Fate gives them the gift of love and family. Who knew some gifts don’t come in packages but in bursts of unforgettable moments of the heart.
Claudia Burgoa once again pulled me with her writing. Her ability to create beautifully flawed, dynamic characters and give them the purest gift of the heart in written words is amazing. I always walk away from a Claudia Burgoa novel with a smile on my face and a warm heart!
Once Upon A Holiday by Claudia Burgoa is a festive celebration of love.
June and Sterling are definitely opposites. June plans her entire life out, including a family, and Sterling is an artist married to his work. When they meet by chance and spend one night together, fate takes their future into it’s hands. This is a sweet love story, and I’d recommend it.
“When it happens, it’ll catch you off guard. Change your entire life. It’ll be a soul deep connection and you’ll need each other like you need air to breathe. Maybe when you find love the stars shine brighter and everything that used to be dull has a new light. She’ll be your favorite feeling, even when you can’t understand it. The best place you, very ever been in and the one you want to stay in forever.” – Sterling
June has a plan, she is taking charge of getting what she wants in life instead of waiting for it to happen. Sterling keeps himself away from the world to protect himself. They happen to run into each other and decide to have one wild night, no names, no commitment, just fun. But life has other plans for them.
I loved these characters. June organizes everything, she had a plan and lists, and as life hits her with unexpected changes she just starts a new plan. Sterling complements her perfectly. He lives his life, although he keeps himself isolated while doing it. June is tired of waiting for love to have the children she knows she wants. Sterling is thinks he is perfectly happy living his single life, no commitments, no kids, that’s what he wants.
Then the unexpected happens. The way they come together is so sweet. This is a perfect holiday romance.
They say life is what happens when we’re busy making other plans, and boy oh boy, does planner extraordinaire, June Spearman, get smacked up side the head with a great big dose of life. In just one night her thirty-day plan is shot, as well as her carefully calculated plan to have a baby on her own. Just when she’s decided to take a year and figure out her life, broody, grumpy billionaire artist, Sterling Ahern upends everything.
Mr. Live-in-the-moment never wanted a family. Not after the example he had from his parents, and not with crazy stalkers hounding him every time he steps out in public. Who knew that artist groupies were a thing, but Sterling has an entire security team as a result. Now he has more to protect than just himself, a job he hopes to be lucky enough to have for the rest of his life.
Who doesn’t love a temperamental, broody hero with a bit of baggage but a heart of gold? For a man who never wanted a family, it didn’t take him long to get on board. June doesn’t quite know what to make of Sterling’s need to keep her close and protect her, but she’s used to dealing with overbearing men. She’s the youngest daughter with three older brothers, so she has a lot of experience.
I don’t know how she does it time and time again, but this author is one I can always count on for a captivating, endearing, heartfelt read. It doesn’t matter if it’s a trope that’s been done thousands times, Burgoa delivers a fresh, engaging storyline with characters who easily enchant me, sneak into my heart and leave me wanting more. If you’re looking for a holiday read where home is a person rather than a place and family is borne of bonds as well as blood, don’t miss this sweet yet steamy, heart-warming read.
Once Upon a Holiday by Claudia Burgoa is a contemporary, accidental pregnancy, holiday romance told in first person, dual POV.
When Juniper and Sterling meet, they agree to have one night of passion and never see each other again – no strings attached and no names exchanged. Little do they know, as fate would have it, everything is about to change. And both will learn that sometimes what we think we want is not at all what we really need.
This is a fun story of opposites attracting. It was uplifting, sexy, and sweet. I really enjoyed it.
*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***
I loved it! This story was amazing. I loved the characters and the return of other characters we’ve read about was such a bonus. It was so entertaining to read how Sterling and June met. The scene in the bathroom was hilarious.
Juniper is going through some stuff that her family doesn’t even know about. She wants to enter a new chapter in her life without all the interference from them. While she loves her family and they are very close, she’s feeling a bit abandoned now that her siblings have found their significant others. She decides to make some big changes and plans everything out to the last detail but she wasn’t counting on a certain artist disrupting her plans and showing her that the best laid plans aren’t always the best.
Sterling is all about his art. He has no time or desire for a relationship which is why he’s all about hooking up and nothing more, especially with the crazy fans he has. He even kept his brother Wes at a distance, not really wanting to get too close to him and his family. Until June comes into his life showing him what he’s been missing. While he was always touting how great his single life was, he now realizes that his life was actually lonely and devoid of any real value. Now, it’s all about convincing June that he’s worth the risk.
I loved everything about this story; the way they met, the way they interacted and just their overall chemistry. They work through their obstacles once they finally start to communicate better. I love how Sterling just took to his life with June and how they both became better people once they found each other. The ending was just perfect. Amazing story.
Once Upon a Holiday is a cute wintery themed story revisiting the Spearman family. Featuring June Spearman, the baby of the five siblings (you may remember the family from Maybe Later and Then He Happened), and a reclusive, billionaire, playboy artist…who maybe hates the holidays?
What starts as a one-night fling with no names involved turns into so much more. Sterling (our leading man) is instantly attracted to June and just can’t seem to stop himself. And June has a 30 day plan that gets disrupted.
I didn’t really care for Sterling at the beginning. He seemed so hot and cold, and honestly a bit of a DB. I understood why June wanted boundaries. But June was no angel, she had her flaws too. Both need some lessons in C-O-M-M-U-N-I-C-A-T-I-O-N.
Overall it was a sweet and light story, perfect to prepare for the holidays.
