Once Upon a Duke by Eva Devon
The Duke’s Club Series Book One
Ryder Blake, 11th Duke of Darkwell, also known as Duke of Debauchery and the Duke of Death, has earned his names. To the whole of London he may seem to be a handsome duke who pleases women. But underneath, he’s living in the past. In sorrow. He’s closed his heart off and lets no one get past the physical. Until her.
Kathryn “Kate” Darrell has escaped from her lonely existence in the country. Her husband didn’t want her…just her money. Now, as one of the wealthiest widows around…she’s come to London for excitement, and she knows just where she’ll start. She’s about to live a life of debauchery.
Reading the scandal sheets in the country or her London home is one thing. Becoming the scandal wasn’t quite as exciting. Get ready as this book takes the reader to the underbelly of London where everything goes…especially polite society and its rules. The only rule…don’t get caught.

Leaving the past behind
Marital disasters vary from couple to couple. Which is why the death of a spouse may be freeing for one, but devastating for another. Once Upon a Duke by Eva Devon is a profile of just such a contrast.
I really liked Kathryn and Ryder. Their characters were multifaceted, and their story was more than just a romance. Ms. Devon did a good job of weaving together their love story, with just the right mix of thoughts, descriptions and dialogue. That said, the sexual content was a bit much. Also, the ending was sweet, but a bit short.
Content 411: Contains both explicit language and sexual content
This is a good regency romance. The h pursues the H so they had an unconventional meeting and their love for each other develops as the story progresses . Both of them had some issues with their past that has affected them. However, it gets a little bit drawn out when it took so long for the H to realize he was wasting his life over his self-imposed guilt and blame over his first wife’s death when all his friends knew it was not his fault. The strength and optimism of the h and his best friend were what eventually helped them achieve their HEA.
Enjoyed reading and the love that came out.
Already wrote a review, I enjoyed this book very much
It was hot.
Unable to connect with the hero. And the book was mostly about sexual situations so that just might explain why the character development was so lacking. In all a rather lackluster effort.
I did not like this book at all. It was not my idea of a regency novel, and I do not recommend it.
I liked the female’s strength but I don’t think it was realistic given her past. The made the male too different in the last half of the book for my taste.
It was a well written books, some interesting history and great romance
Nothing good to say about this book. If you want a description of a chamber pot or the curtains this is your book. Boring very descriptive not enough dialogue. Bunch of women hating and men attempting machoism.
Another great book that kept me up reading.
It’s a wonderful sexy summer read. I enjoyed the descriptive details of the clothing, the times… men could do anything, but let a woman do it and she was …
ruined… I found it to be a fast read and enjoyable.
Hilarious when the predictable happens.
Good reminder about where assumptions can lead. Strong characters, romantic with a good amount of mystery. Love a strong pistol packing romantic woman!
The grammer and sentence errors in this book drove me nuts trying to figure out what the author was saying. poorly edited.
GREAT ROMANCE NOVEL
Would recommend it to friends.
was a great read – I enjoy this type of happily ever after
