Lots of “Grimm” short stories reworked. Some were very entertaining and others were mind numbingly boring! There were a few that I wished were longer and I found a few new authors I want to read more of. Not a waste of time.
I love a book that pull me into the story I just don’t want to put it down
Lots of variety
I thought I would be lucky if I found one story I liked in this book. Was I wrong! Most of the stories were well-written with interesting characters. I read the entire book and then put it away to read again. This is definitely “a keeper.”
So many interesting little stories, and snippets of stories. Some of the most entertaining new/not yet famous writers out there, so nice to read.
A well written series of fairy tales based on many of the well know tales we heard as children, but with unique and several dark twists. Definitely not what you expect, but difficult to put down waiting for the next twist.
I enjoyed some stories more than the others. It was interesting reading a different take on some old fairy tales. Give it a try, you’ll enjoy it.
Just fun reading with new twists on old stories
I enjoyed this collection of stories. As with any collection, not all of them are going to be gems; however, there are enough good nuggets to make it worth the time. It’s light, easy reading.
Very interesting takes on classic stories.
Enjoyed finding authors I wanted to read more by so I bought the other books in this series plus started reading books by my faves in this one.
I selected this collection because a story by C. Gockel (whose writing I thoroughly have enjoyed previously) was included. While some stories are more lighthearted than others, a dark thread does run through all of them in a similar vein as the original “fairy tales”. And, the very last story (by Alethea Kontis) left me in tears, marveling at its beauty.
Unusual ways to think about fairytales and more.
Fun to read familiar fairy tales written with a different flare.
While I recommend this book to lovers of twisted faery tales and the short story art form, I felt the balance was off as some stories had a different feel than others and some were crafted better.
Very short vignettes are not my preferred story format, but I still love the creativity and the retellings of these fairy tales.
17 stories, some better than others as to be expected, still an enjoyable read
A bit dark for my tastes, but still a good read.
I LIKE THE TWIST OF THE STORY…. WILL READ MORE BY THIS AUTHOR.
Good book!
