Book 1 in the Cowboy Fairytales series from a USA TODAY bestselling author
A princess on-the-run finds sanctuary where she least expects it…
After nearly dying in an assassination attempt, Princess Alessandra of Glorvaird escapes to a place no one would ever think to look for her: small town Oklahoma and a ranch staffed by a herd of wooly, uncouth cowboys. One cowboy in particular gets under … cowboy in particular gets under her skin, until she sees his softer side. She knows this interlude can’t last forever, but that doesn’t stop her from wishing it might…
Former Navy SEAL Gideon Hale might’ve rescued the princess from freezing to death, but the soldier doesn’t trust easily—or at all—especially when his gut tells him Alessandra is keeping secrets. But as Alessandra begins to fit into his life, he discovers another side to the princess—one that he can’t help but like.
When Alessandra’s enemies close in, Gideon must fight to save the woman who has become so much more than a princess…
Once Upon a Cowboy is a contemporary western retelling of the Snow White fairytale and Book 1 in the Cowboy Fairytales series.

My urge to rewrite the first chapter of book one is strong. But the rest of the book was cute if highly improbable! Look out for Snow White themes! Happy Reading!
I enjoyed it very much
Alessandra is a Princess visiting NYC when her bodyguard dies protecting her. On the run after the assassination attempt, she finds herself in the bed of a pickup truck in the Dallas airport. Gideon is at the airport to pick up his brother, Matt, who is on military leave. When they discover someone has stowed away in their truck, they really don’t know what to think.
If you enjoy fairytale retellings, this is a pretty good book. However, I do have some problems with it. First of all, the blurb says that Alessandra winds up in Oklahoma, not Texas. How do you make such a mistake on a blurb? I was dissatisfied with the ending in a lot of ways. I imagine that the story continues in further books, but I felt like I was left hanging in the ending. Way too many things that were brought up throughout the book were never answered.
The narrator did a pretty good job, but as with a lot of female narrators, the men’s voices just didn’t work for me. If you are looking for a sweet, clean romance, this is enjoyable enough. I was given a copy of this audiobook by the author/narrator/publisher and chose to review it.
“I think she’s a princess!”
This is the first in a series of interrelated romances, each featuring a different couple but describing an overall story arc. Certainly it can be read alone! The story starts with an assassination attempt on a Princess. Narrator Lara Asmundson beautifully brings to life the characters as they struggle to come to terms with each other’s background and their mutual attraction. Nothing like an assassination attempt to clarify one’s values!
This is a princess on the run story, and a take on the fairytale, Snow White. Princess Alessandra is on the run from an assassination attempt on her and the royal family. She hides in the back of an old pick up truck only to discover that she’s heading for a ranch, not a charity ball. Instead of dwarves, there are cowboys on the ranch who appreciate the good meals and sweet company that the princess prepares for them. Gideon is an overserious, surly, discharged veteran who finds the princess too pretty and charming for her own good. It is an entertaining story, but the danger is not resolved. You meet Gideon’s brother, Matt, but there is a mystery lingering in his background. Gideon’s sister, Carrie makes an appearance, but the story is too brief to get to know her well. So, this is not my favorite Lacy Williams story, but since this is part of a series, my guess is this story is laying the foundation for other books and resolution in other storylines.
This is book #1 in a series of “Cowboy Fairytales”. This story was written like a fairy tale to be just like the fairy tale Snow White. I enjoyed this book and will want to read the rest in the series. It kept my attention to see if the Princess would fall in love with a cowboy. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
