Cinderella’s fairy godmother just turned hot. And male. Very, very male. My three priorities in life have always been: the horse ranch I manage with my brothers, my family, and my best friend, Sophie West. Sophie is the ranch’s horse trainer—or as we call her, our horse whisper. She’s hot as hell, but mixing business with pleasure never ends well. Been there. Done that. Had it branded on my ass. mixing business with pleasure never ends well. Been there. Done that. Had it branded on my ass.
But apparently Sophie’s biological clock is ticking. She’s let it slip that she’s ready to find her soul mate or at least a nice man.
The first problem? She’s socially awkward around any guy she’s interested in.
The second problem? If she doesn’t find her true love in town, our ranch could lose the best damn horse trainer around.
Problem number three? She wants me to be her “fairy godfather” and help her become more confident. We’re talking lessons on kissing and clothing-optional activities so that she can ask out the new vet in town.
Which is problem number four—and the biggest issue of all. I want to be her Prince Charming.
But I’m going to have to put my heart on the line to win hers.
Once Upon a Cowboy is a standalone romance. All the books in the series can be read in any order.

This is book two in Ms Lindenblatt’s Copper Creek series. You don’t have to have read book one for this one to make sense. If you’re looking for a rom-com with a side of fairy tale featuring a hot cowboy, look no further. This is the book for you!
Once Upon a Cowboy has pretty much got it all. The only thing missing is a big mystery, but then again, considering how oblivious Jake can be, maybe there is a mystery to be solved. This book has laughs, sighs, secrets, heartbreak, and healing wrapped up in some of the most engaging characters you’ll ever meet. Did I mention there’s a fairy godfather?
This is a fun book any time, but it’s especially good for a fun summer beach/vacay read.
Loved this book! Stina takes the Cinderella trope and turns it on its head with Jake Daniels as the sexy fairy godfather to his best friend Sophie. It’s all fun and games until Sophie starts turning on the charm for someone else. There’s also a hilarious scene with Jake channeling his “feminine side.” 🙂
In this second installment of the Copper Creek series from Stina Lindenblatt, Jake Daniels is busy. Too busy. The ranch is priority #1 and he doesn’t have much time for anything else, especially a girlfriend. Certainly not any time for a girlfriend that is an employee, no matter how much she turns his head.
Sophie West is the horse trainer for the ranch. She gets to spend lots of time with Jake. She’s also looking for a man — soul mate would be even better. But she’s not good at attracting men and so she asks Jake to help her in her quest. This makes for a mash-up of friends-to-lovers and employee-boss tropes with a dash of Cyrano / Cinderella – tossed in for good measure.
I’m not a big rom com reader, but I’ve really been enjoying this series. It has just the right elements to keep me reading and even have me chuckling now and then. Jake is no fool — he realizes what he’s going to lose if he really helps Sophie. Sophie is smart as well, realizing that Jake is really the one she wants. It’s all so very romantic and sweet. Perfect for after a hard day of work when you just want to escape to some place different and the ranch setting works nicely for that.
Once Upon a Cowboy is a fun story with some really nice romantic elements. While the story is predictable, I was drawn into it with the awesome characters and wanting Jake and Sophie to get their HEA. The story is told in Jakes’s point of view and I also really liked that about it. It gives the story a different flavor than an alternating point of view typically seen in contemporary romance.
Overall, a sweet story that works well as a standalone. I’m loving this series!
An ARC was provided for review.
4.5 Well Deserving Stars!!
A very enjoyable read. Another page-turner at its best!!
Once Upon a Cowboy is a great story. Fun, enjoyable, full of emotions, amazing characterization, and delicately measured details. Just brilliantly developed!
The story is beautifully well-written, well-plotted and captivating. A real page-turner at its best!!
Twisted fairytale is definitely what I would call this but I loved it. Jake and Sophie and Maui the puppy were just too cute!
5 SWEET AND SEXY COWBOY STARS!! Another sweet and sexy Cowboy that you can love up to, how can you go wrong. Jake and Sophie were fun to watch as their story unfolded. They are so perfect for each other, but do they know it. Stina Lindenblatt always gives us readers great stories, so looking for a weekend read here you go.
*I received an ARC copy for a honest review.* I absolutely love the friends to lovers theme in the books I read and this one did not disappoint. Jake and Sophie had great chemistry and the story flowed perfectly. OUAC was a great follow up in the Copper Creek series and I can’t wait for more!
This delightful friends to lovers romance is a great addition to the Copper Creek series! Jake Daniels is busy running his family’s horse farm with his brothers. He doesn’t have time for a relationship, especially with someone he works with. He loves his sweet, and innocent best friend, Sophie. But she also works as his Horse Trainer, so they stay friends only. Sophie is awkward around every good looking man except Jake. So when she asks him to help her attract another man, all his rules are forgotten. This is a fun and flirty, sweet and sexy romance with lots of heart. I really loved Jake and Sophie, they were so great together. Jake’s brothers and friends are all fun and entertaining as well. I can’t get enough of these sexy cowboys and can’t wait for more from Copper Creek.
Another winner by Stina full of sweet and sexy times. Loved Sophie and Jake’s winding journey to each other. Enjoyed reading from the guys perspective. Can’t wait for Noah to get his HEA.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
The blurb for this book had enough promise that I bought it for $0.99 when I saw it on bookbub. But that promised was never really developed. The story line is interesting the problem I had was with the writing style. The author also shows promise, but I think needs to mature a bit more in the craft. The author made the rather unconventional decision to write the book to write the entire book first person, present tense. Okay that isn’t my preferred style, but it is trendy right now. The unconventional part was the entire book was one POV, the hero’s. I’ve never seen this done before with a male/female main couple. I found as a reader I was making just as many assumptions as the hero (and being female I definitely understood Sophie’s actions/reactions better than Jake, whose name by the way we learn rather late in the book, I had the distinct thought ‘oh his name is Jake’). There were also minor details that were inconsistent. For example Sophie’s eyes seemed to switch between brown and blue. In many scene her eyes ‘darken’ and in one scene the comment is made contrasting the blue of Jake’s eyes and the brown of Sophie’s, but in another scene she is said to have blue eyes. I also found a few parts of the story line rather unbelievable and this is where the author maturity comes into play: 1) Jake ‘grew up’ on the ranch but doesn’t know anything about puppies (or much about dogs really)?, 2) Sophie went to college to become a ‘horse trainer’, this is not a field you can get a direct degree in, you get a related degree but there isn’t a college program for ‘horse training’, 3) the dynamics of the ranch and town is not very believable: the brothers switch their grandfather’s cattle ranch over to a horse operation with no mention of debt or hands and the movement between the ‘city’ (NY,NY in this case) and the small town in Montana (I think it’s Montana from the towns mentioned) is off to me.
All in all, it showed promise but never quite got there, both in story line and writing style. Ultimately I’m annoyed I paid for this one, and would not recommend it at full price.
Great read
Once Upon a Cowboy is the fun second book in this series. It can be read as a standalone, but is will be best enjoyed after reading book one. This book brought a lot of smiles to my face at the smashed up fairy tale references and laughter and love. It definitely provides a happily ever after.
I enjoyed this fun take on a Cinderella story, with friends turning to lovers. The plot twists and turns in most interesting ways, very true to life. Rules are made, and broken; people are awkward but good.
I loved Sophie! A girl next door type, who is good looking but flawed; strong in her convictions and passionate about her profession. But she’s ready for more in her life than horses and friends. Unfortunately she’s not so good with the opposite gender, making her quest for a happily ever after more difficult. Jake has been loving Sophie from afar, but after being burned by workplace romance, he’s bound and determined to just be her friend. Jake’s life has been only the ranch in recent years, but that has left his life a bit empty. So helping his friend in a fairy godfather role is an interesting turn of events that have them both re-evaluating life choices..
The heat and chemistry in this book seems even better than book one. Sophie’s bumbling with everyone else makes it all that more real of an interaction with Jake. And since they’ve been lusting after each other for some time, they connect in quite the sexy way!
This book read a bit more evenly than the first one, though still a bit awkward in times. I was drawn into their story so i could see how in the world they’d make their relationship work. I had fun with all the messed up fairy tale tidbits, and the end was amazing at Disneyland.
Gotta admit, I’m invested, and can’t wait to see what’s in store for the last brother. And the crazy antics of the citizens of Copper Creek. Who am I kidding, I hope that Austin gets a book, and even Ryan, and Aubrey.

Loved! Copper Creek is a great series, but they can be read as a stand-alone. Once Upon a Cowboy is a friends to lovers romance and it was great! Jake and Sophia’s story was everything I wanted it to be!
