“You want me to seduce someone?” Miss Hestia Normanton stared askance at Frederick Ebbworth. Thus the journey begins filled with lies, intrigue, betrayal and an unexpected attraction that will lead to so much more.
Hestia had “eloped” with Frederick thinking they would marry, but he kept putting it off. Finding one excuse after another with the latest being if she will seduce the man that is trying to ruin him, all will work out.
That man is Conall, Earl of Cornsbury, a scarred man inside and out, who blames Fredrick for the death of past love. As he and Hestia meet and … well, you will just have to read to find out!
My favorite story of the wounded hero who needs that certain woman to bring him peace.
Elizabeth Keysian is one of my favorite authors and I am always excited when I can read one of her fabulous stories! Another great addition to this series that has held me captive from the start!
Once Ruined, Twice Shy is the third book in the Marry in Haste series by Elizabeth Keysian. It is a fast paced and compelling story about Hestia and Conall. This story fascinated me from the very beginning. I felt really bad for Hestia who was very wronged by the man she eloped with. He is quite the scoundrel and uses Hestia’s hopes, dreams and affection for him in effort to gain what he wants. Hestia then meets Conall who proves to be an extremely understanding person and together they work something out. This story is short but it’s filled with so much and keeps the reader absorbed from start to finish. A wonderful addition to an already fantastic series and an absolute must read!
Oh my! A must read! Once Ruined, Twice Shy is a spectacular historical romance by Elizabeth Keysian. Ms. Keysian has provided readers with a well-written book that is almost like a historical romance in reverse. I love these characters! Our heroine, Hestia, has already been ruined and is living with the man that promised her marriage but failed to deliver. Now he’s forcing her to spy on a man that he says is ruining his finances. Conall is recovering from a duel gone wrong when he sees Hestia fall from her horse. Conall and Hestia’s story is packed with drama, humor, smokin’ hot sexy bits, action and suspense. I loved every page of this book and will once again be tapping my foot waiting for my next book by Elizabeth Keysian. Once Ruined, Twice Shy is book 3 of the Marry In Haste Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Miss Hestia Normanton was silly enough to elope with a man, and then he refused to marry her until she helps him ruin his enemy. She can hardly believe what he is asking her to do.
Connall Methuan, Earl of Corsbury has burried himself in the work needed for his estate since the death of his fiancee. He suffered a terrible injury that changed his life and there is one man to blame. That man must pay.
A very unusual historical romance. Our hero thinks very differently to most most gentlemen of his time. Our heroine has almost given up on being respectable again.
I loved it.
Once Ruined, Twice Shy by Elizabeth Keysian is book Three in the Marry in Haste Collection Series. This is the story of Hestia Normanton and Conall Methuen, Earl of Corsbury.
Conall had loved once before but she died tragically which of course Conall feels responsible for. Conall has really became a recluse of sorts vowing to not care again. Hestia had chosen to run away with Frederick Ebbworth who promised to marry her but of course he didn’t. But he blackmails her into spying on Conall. This brings Conall and Hestia to become close and start to help each other heal and seek the freedom they need. Enjoyed their story and hope to read more from this author.

My review :
Will her distrust of men tear them apart when a second chance at love is offered …
This is my introduction work to Mrs Elizabeth Keysian, a fast paced read about second chance and redeeming oneself.
I confess it is not often I have read about a ruined woman still living with the scoundrel behind it in sin. I understand she is left with little choice than complying to his demands if she has any hope to rescue herself from her predicament.
She is the perfect example of the damages done by men abusing naive women, the same instead of being protected by their kin, left to be seduced by talented deceivers, their ignorance of the world made them perfect prey for all the cads and scoundrels navigated around them.
Conall paid dearly the loss of his betrothed, now he is left disfigured and a revenge on its way.
When a distraction appears in the shape of a lovely woman, she stirs needs and feelings he thought buried. But she hides too something.
I loved Conall, he is an admirable and honorable, he does not sanction Hestia for her misjudgment or errors. He is ready to offer for her, and also he wants her whole, where she sees control, I only see a man who wants her happy.
Her past experience blinds her of his worthiness, and even worse, she wounds him deeply when he has only her happiness as aim.
4 stars as I would have liked this story to be a bit longer, and I found the ending a bit rushed.
I was granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

This is a story about deceit, betrayal, and Lies. Frederick Ebbworth had convinced Miss Hestia Normanton that he loved her and they should elope. They did and for a year she waited to be married but he kept putting it off. Then he comes up with a scheme that Conall Methuen, Earl of Corsbury, who is trying to ruin Frederick, be ruined himself and he blackmails Hestia into helping him. Hestia’s father is a retired Colonel and she fears he wants nothing to do with her so she has no place to turn to because she does not want to do what Frederick wants her to do.
I loved this story. The way the Conall fell in love with even though he swore he would not do it again.
He had loved Josephine with great gusto. She had been engaged before but he died in the war. One year later, he returned and wanted Josephine back. She and Conall had a horrible fight and she raced off on her horse, it threw her and her neck was broken. He was devastated. He blamed it on Frederick and it was his fault. The tale is engaging, full of life and learning about all the characters was wonderful. It has a strong plot and keeps your attention. It was very hard for me to put down and to be honest I didn’t. I highly recommend this book and found it very entertaining.
I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.
