Wow what a read ! I absolutely love this author, she lets you in on what everyone is dealing with. I love the Mother’s heart’s serie but I thought l woudn’t like the story of a mother running away from her baby. But this one is so beautifully written and so full of passion, angst, heartache, and fear ! I loved it ! I receive this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.
This riveting story was a real page turner with the good storyline and well-defined characters! Sarah and Reece kept me glued to my kindle with their very emotional story!
What an emotional story! I really enjoyed the realism of all the pieces of the plot- ranging from young love and financial/health stressors to meddling family and layers of secrets. I needed tissues to make it through to the very satisfying HEA ending. Real people with real life challenges made this a great read for me.

Once a Wife is a beautifully written book, digging deep down into human reactions and emotions, from an overprotective mother-in-law to the heart of a mother who could not turn her back on her child when he needed her most. I felt angry at the injustice of Sarah being forced to face impossible odds, and wept with her when she met her son and husband again. I felt her fear in facing her mother-in-law and the feelings of low self-worth as she worked through her deception in not telling Reece about their daughter.
This story is one of triumph over tragedy and second chances, covering issues such as teenage pregnancy, as well as social and racial prejudice. It also brought out how much influence a mother can have on a family, either for good or bad. Sometimes as mothers, we have to let our dreams for our children go and allow them to live their own lives without interference.
I feel that I have been enriched having read this book and that this story will stay with me for some time.

Good quick cozy love story.
What will a woman do to protect here child? A story about a wife and mom forced to sacrifice herself for the sake of her child. A great story of redemption and forgiveness.
An excellent read,
A wonderful tale about a mother’s love, Once a Wife by Patricia Keelyn tells Sarah’s story. Sarah falls for rich cowboy Reece at the age of seventeen. Circumstances cause her to flee after her husband stays away and her son needs expensive medical care. Years later when Sarah’s grandmother tells her the boy needs her, she is hesitant to reunite the family. Once they connect, Reece and Sarah realize they should have stayed together.
A story of lies, heartbreak, and love that you will not want to miss!
Loved this book! Patricia Keelyn is a wonderful writer, she sure has a way with words and I look forward to reading more of her books!!!
It was a nice quick read. The characters were well written and the story was interesting. I thought there would be more to Sarah leaving than just money and bad judgment so that was disappointing. I didn’t like that she took so long to tell him everything. I don’t know if I would have been as understanding and forgiving of my mother if she had done what Reece’s mother did. This plot didn’t really cut it for me. As a mother I’m not sure how you could leave your child and just walk away. They both walked away too easily and then walked back together to easily. I couldn’t get really invested in the two main characters. Lack of communication and poor decisions don’t constitute a full story. Though her love for her children pulled at my heartstrings.
They married as teenagers and had a small son who was sick. With no money and support Sarah did what she had to do to get help for her son. The only assistance came from Reece’s mother and to get it, Sarah had to give up Reece and her son. It has been twelve years and Sarah has word that her son is being reckless. He is failing in school and not taking his health serious. When she reaches out to Reece he is still livid with her for abandoning the but agrees to let her help Drew but she can’t tell him that she is his mother. When everything comes out into the open Reece will have one more reason to not trust Sarah but the love is still there. Will it be enough to get them over the heartache and on to a second chance for a happily ever after?
Young wife leaves husband and son for unselfish reasons. Years later, circumstances bring them together to overcome hurt and pride.
Great Book!
Good Read.
Once a Wife … I loved this book. When a mother does what she thinks is best for her child is truly heartfelt. She does this and knows it will destroy her relationship with her husband. This story really brings home the commitment and love of a mother and the things we do to protect our children. This author is new to me but I look forward to reading more of her books.
This book has been on my to-be-read list for quite some time and I’m overwhelmed by how much this achingly beautiful story moved me! Patricia Keelyn has captured the strong love that binds a teenage wife and mother to her infant son and her financially struggling teenage husband. The sacrifice this young mother and wife makes when faced with impossible choices, and the repercussions of those choices faced by all concerned in the years following her decision, is what kept me riveted to every page of this endearing story. I will feel the emotional impact of Once A Wife for a very long time and will no doubt revisit Sarah and Reece’s story again and again.
Wonderful characters. Story line fun and interesting. Would recommend this book
