At seventeen, Sarah Colby had been scared and desperate. Her marriage to Reece Colby was faltering. Believing she had no other option, Sarah accepted Elizabeth’s offer—though leaving them was the hardest thing she’d ever done.
Now, twelve years later, Sarah still questions that decision. So when she learns that Drew’s in trouble, she knows it’s time to break her agreement with Elizabeth. Drew needs the mother he’s never known and Sarah needs to help her son. But how can she face Reece after deserting him? I can’t imagine making the decision the main character in this book had to make, but I can certainly see how I might do the same in her position. The book is about sacrifice, forgiveness and the strength of true love.
Enjoyed the characters and story line flowed nicely
Reese and Sarah were an interesting couple in a hard to navigate situation to do the right thing Each had their own side and reasons. Sarah thought she was doing the right thing by taking money from Reese’s mother to divorce him and she would make sure her son would get the diabetes medicine he required. she never wanted them to marry, so when they came together 11 or so years later and things were reveled later. It comes out that she felt she was doing the wrong things for the right reason. In the end things were resolved and there was a life or death situation so overall it was a good book even though there were certain times when I just wanted to pull a three stooges move and knock their heads together. but red it and form your own opinion, you know we’re all different and see the situation through different eyes. thank you.
Loved this story. They married young and had a diabetic child. He was disinherited bc she was part Indian and his family was very wealthy and they had aspirations for him to go into politics. She discovers she is pregnant again and doesn’t tell him as they are poor and he is never around. His mom offers to pay her off if she leaves her son so he can get proper medical treatment. She thinks she is doing the right thing. Years later she goes to his ranch to meet her son again but he hires her as a tutor with the understanding that she cannot tell him she is his mom. This story brings heartache but joy. It is very well written and brings out a lot of emotion.
Really liked this book.
A sad story with so much emotional upheaval for the adult characters involving their two children not knowing they were siblings during their earliest childhood years. A difficult situation for the mother having to give up her baby to her mother-in-law with a promise to stay out of the baby’s life due to the hardships in their marriage and inability to care for a health challenged baby. Having a mother-in-law who felt she was not good enough for her son put unneeded pressure on their relationship. Throughout the ensuing years her yearning to reconnect and be a part of the child’s life sadly added more emotional upheaval to her life.
A good story about love, redemption, deception and truth. I would have given it four or five if Sarah hadn’t wavered so much and waited so long to tell him the truth. And if Reece didn’t wait so long to own up to his mistakes sooner.
I think it was one of the ones I didn’t like the language on. Could be wrong. Forgive me if so. But personally, I don’t like the f-bomb. If I see it Several times at beginning of book, I delete the book.
I loved this book! Your heart absolutely went out to Sarah and Reece and you hated Reece’s mother. What his mother did was worse than horrible. This is an awesome story of second chance love. A standalone HEA!!!
I liked the main female character, up until the end. When the mother-in-law buy’s off the wife, it is implied that there in more to the blackmail than the reader knows. Sadly, this does not prove to be the case, which led to my disenchantment with the wife character. Left a bad taste.
Another Great Book
Patricia has put together another great story about second chances. They both were young when they married and their first child. But he has medical issues and his mother bought her off. She didn’t want to go. But she was pregnant again. 10 years later her son needs her, but will it be too late to fix everything.
This was a good story. It is part of a series but can stand on its own with no cliffhangers. I really like the characters and how the story developed.
Great love story!!
3.5, but I’ll bump to 4 because Reece and Sarah had to suffer his mother. =P Reece and Sarah married way too early. He was eighteen, she was seventeen. They were from opposite sides of the track. When Reece first brought Sarah home and introduced her as his wife, he was disowned and kicked out of the house. Reece did the best he could, but it wasn’t enough to provide the medical treatment their son, Drew needed. That’s when Elizabeth, the aforementioned mother, offer Sarah a deal she couldn’t refuse.
Did Sarah make the right choice? Fast forward eleven years and find out. This one is a quick and touching read. There will be times when you want to slap someone (different someones at different times) upside the head. There will be other times when you’re melting. There’ll be a few times you’ll be laughing. There were a few times I thought Sarah was more than whiny, but overall, this is an engaging story.
I always enjoy a good love story and this was a great love story to read at a bargain price!
