Colorado Territory 1873. When the loud knocking on the door, Luke Chandler was irritated to say the least and never expected a woman to be at the door. At least not this one when he found out Sara Montgomery was there as his mail order bride. What? Having been wounded in the war, he had been drinking and staying as isolated as he could. He could not believe his brother had set this up and he knew nothing about it
Sara has been desperate. Her husband had been killed in the war and everything was gone so she had answered the ad. Now what would she do?
A wounded man, body and soul who did his best to keep his distance and a woman who Hopes their is something there to salvage.
Take the journey traveled with these two who need love and each other if only they can find the way.. I really enjoyed their story of the heart!

Luke and Sarah have a lot of issues to tackle after being lied to about their situation. Luke needs Sarah and she needs him. Can they get over their stubbornness to get married? Good read with strong characters.

Luke has changed a lot after he lost one of his foot in the war. He thinks nobody will love him because of his stump.
Sarah has lost everything because of the war: her house, her sister, her husband and her money.
It was easy for both of them to meet but very difficult to trust each other, especially Luke. Wars destroy everything, not just the people who die because of it, but also the people who survive. They leave so many injuries not only physically but mentally as well. Both, Luke and Sarah had suffered due to war, although their injuries are different, the suffering is the same.
I enjoyed the book. It is well-written. However, there is something that prevents me from giving it 5 stars. Probably Luke’s behaviour against Sarah. I can’t imagine a person so into himself to let people think bad about sweet and strong Sarah.
Anyway, in the end, I enjoyed the book.

A very flawed character so human.
Sarah and Luke’s story was a bit different read for me. Luke is such a troubled soul and not a real likable character so human wonderful job of writing by the author. Then Sarah faced with something she did not expect how she dealt with it was interesting. I enjoyed the book and if you are looking for something a bit different from a sweet story this is one you should check out. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
A well written story that once I started I was not putting it down. Widowed Sarah Montgomery answers an ad for a mail order bride that she thinks Luke Chandler posted. When she gets to his Colorado home she finds out it was his brother Mark who posted the ad. I enjoyed reading this story and seeing how their happy ending comes about. Once a Mail Order Bride is a Fantastic Read! Diana Bold’s characters never failed to delight; they have depth, are strong willed and, have great chemistry. From the first page and throughout I was totally captivated by Sarah and Luke’s journey to the road of discovery of one’s self and one another. This story has a way of grabbing you the first few pages and then you can’tt put the book down until the end. Remarkable emotions, and unforgettable characters. A Must Read!
