Once A Hero by Jan Thompson is a contemporary Christian romantic suspense and the second book in the Protector Sweethearts series. It can be read as a stand-alone.
It is an exciting and complex read. I must admit I got confused at times trying to follow the intricacies of the action. I think this because I had a kindle copy. I recommend buying a paperback as it makes flicking backwards easier.
The novel is about righting the wrongs of the past. Stolen artefacts need to be found and returned. There is the question of trust. The reader realises God can always be trusted.
Sometimes our earthly fathers will let us down. God will never let us down. Our heavenly Father will never abandon us. He has promised to be with us always.
Law enforcement agencies work together for good. Characters must work together and rely on the power of prayer.
Once A Hero was a thrilling read that would make a fantastic television series.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
I was taken in from the very first page, could not put this suspense / romance novel down! I do adore Jan Thompson’s books, but must say this was the best one yet! It is so refreshing to read a story where most of the main characters are already firm Christian believers and are willing to risk everything for God’s plan!
Jake and Beatrice’s story will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. They are both trying to solve a case which is really dangerous. When they decide to work together everything changed for them. You will feel God working throughout this wonderful story. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could. I couldn’t stop reading this wonderful book.
This is another really good story by Ms. Thompson. It has lots of thrill, adventure, mystery, some romance & an ending that is very gratifying. I enjoyed it very much. Look forward to more in this series.
3.5 stars
I purchased a copy of Once a Hero: Christian Romantic Suspense: Protector Sweethearts: Book 2 by Jan Thompson and this review was given freely.
Too much violence for me.
This is a twisted, complex, action-packed, and suspenseful novel with a heavy amount of vivid violence, a touch of romance, some prayerful moments, and two criminals seeking redemption.
The story opens with the French-born world’s top terrorist Molyneaux torturing FBI Special Agent Jake then leaving him to drown only to follow the newly fired Jake and her fortune-hunter daughter Beatrice Glynn six months later to the United States where Molyneux continues her reign of torture and getting rid of all obstacles in hopes of gaining access to the remaining Amber Room panels.
This is a Private Investigator Helen Hu Series novel where she works in the background to rescue her friend Jake then support him as he continues his search for Molyneux.
18+ is recommended for vivid violence
