Nathan Rush is a small town man who has never dreamed of a bigger life.Until, that is, the only surviving heiress of America’s richest family lands on his doorstep. Nathan is the groundskeeper at Hollis House, the Valon family’s upstate New York mansion just outside of Harlin Falls, the quiet, sleepy town he was raised in. Grief-stricken and still fearing for her life, Camille arrives at her family’s safe haven estate with secrets and a chip on her shoulder. What she didn’t count on was the kind, ridiculously attractive man who caters to her every need.
As the months go by, and an impending threat grows closer to discovering Camille’s location, the line between employer and employee becomes dangerously blurred. Nathan and Camille could be each other’s saving graces, if only they’d put aside their visions of a perfect life and take the chance fate has put right in front of them.

On Thin Ice by Carrie Aarons is the story of Camille Valon and Nathan Rush.
Camille has lived a sheltered life as a international Ice skater with just her and her parents. But then her parents were murdered and she had no one. Camille went to what she knew to be a safe haven for her family the Hollis Home. There she ends up meeting Nathan who is the grounds keeper for the place. Normally the family doesn’t come to the house but now the daughter is here. Feelings are engaged between the two, but there is danger that is looking for Camille.
Exciting Read.
On Thin Ice is a standalone novel. I have read five other novels by Carrie and so far On Thin Ice has been my favorite! I fell in love with the cover the moment I saw it and knew it was going to be a different kind of story. And I was right…I was sucked in from the from beginning until the very end. This is a story about an ice princess in her castle and a man that wanted to melt her heart…
Camille Valon lived the WASP life. She might have been an International figure skater but she lived a sheltered life. At least she had her loving parents to spend her life with. And now they were gone. She was 21 and an orphan. She was alone. The only other person she loved was her Godfather/lawyer and she couldn’t even be with him. She had to fly to Chicago after her parents were murdered on Christmas Eve. She had to get away from it and the only place to go was back to a home her parents loved in upstate New York. A secret haven to their family of three. When she arrived to Hollis Home she felt scared, isolated, and hopeless. She missed her parents. She was feeling hopeless over the fact that the investigation was going so slow. And she was scared that the murderer would find her. She was also scared that she would never feel again. She was numb. Ever the ice princess. Then Nathan walked into her life and she started to feel safe.
Nathan was born and raised in Harlin Falls. He loved his small town and the people in it. He also loved his job as the groundskeeper at Hollis Home. He grew up watching his father take care of the home and now it was his duty. The Valon family hasn’t been to the property in ten years but now the only heiress was back. He as never met Camille but has his memories of her in the garden when she was a child. She was beautiful then and she is breathtaking now. He could see the pain in her eyes. The hurt in her mind. He wanted to make her feel comfortable in her new home. He also wanted to make her smile. What he didn’t expect was to fall for her. Every day they spent together in and around the home, she melted little by little. With every laugh. With every touch. With every kiss. With every moment wrapped in each other’s arms. It wasn’t his plan. He tried to stay away. He didn’t want to take advantage of his broken princess but she didn’t see it that way. She saw it as him piecing her back together. But what will happen when reality pops their bubble?
Nathan and Camille have more than love and amazing sex to think about. Their is a murderer that could be getting closer and closer to their target. Her. She had no idea who would want to do this to her family. Her parents were loved by all and she never got close enough to anyone to feel hate or love towards her. Who is the maniac that is coming after her? She has a few of the pieces to the puzzles but not enough to start even the edges. Can they figure out this mystery before it’s too late?
I loved Nathan and Camille! Nathan is a sweet, dirty-talking, protective small town man that can make you swoon. And Camille is stronger than she believes, witty, and sexy without knowing it. Together, they are beautiful, hot, and one of a kind. I loved that Camille was discovering herself after 21 years of being sheltered.
Overall…it’s a beautiful journey full of discovery, mystery, love, and sexy times. I laughed. Got hot and bothered. And cried. I loved every minute of it!
P.S I love Nathan’s mom’s name.
Quotes:
I want someone to love me, like an average normal woman needs to be loved.
“Still so proper, babe. I thought I fucked some of the etiquette out of you.”
She’s a man’s fantasy come to life. And she doesn’t even know
That’s that, then…
I completely LOVED the ending of this book. I think Camille ended up surprising me at the end, I seriously saw her for the damsel in distress. A woman unable to handle her own. I was happy to be wrong. I also loved to see Carrie’s take on a romantic suspense/mystery… which are my absolute favorite books!!
We have Camille Valon whose life has taken place in the spotlight. I believe the book said she had a large silver spoon in her mouth and never really took it out. You can tell she is the pampered, high maintenance girl but she’s lost everything that’s truly important to her. I thoroughly enjoyed watching her find herself and seeing her take such a mature step at the ending of the book. I am always inspired by those people who want more and expect more from themselves and Camille surprised me… in a good way!
Nathan Rush is a small town guy who has never really dreamed of much outside his happy, small town life. He is one of the most swoon-worthy men characters I have read in a while. His patience and heart really stood out in this book and made him a REAL man… not those perfect guys that are often on the front of romance books. I adored him!
This doesn’t top my favorite books from Carrie, the duet Lost and Found which were just outstanding books to me. On Thin Ice was different than all her other books and I am just thrilled that she’s branching out and not sticking to just sport romances, which aren’t high on my lists. I read hers because I have found that if Carrie Aarons writes it, I will love it, no matter the genre!
Camille is the lone survivor of her family going to her family home to hide and recover from losing her family. Nathan is the caretaker of this house in upstate New York in his father’s place. Suspenseful and Romantic roller coaster ride so good

The Ice Princess and the Handy Man…
Not exactly but close enough.
She is the heiress to old money and a figure skater.
He is the grounds keeper for her family’s secret vacation home.
She is reeling from her parents brutal murders.
He is just trying to make her day.
Intense chemistry and a whole lot of uncharted feelings bring them together in a whirlwind romance. But this fairytale has a villain too, only no one knows who it is or what they want.
With dark clouds and shadows lurking, the budding romance could end badly. Especially if the villain has any say…
It a fun and entertaining story. I liked the mystery and intrigue but felt it could have played a bigger role.
