This book felt like I was on a speeding train that was ready to derail at any moment. Wow…Cooper lived life with her eyes wide open even though at times she seemed a bit naive. She wanted the fairy tale, like every girl does. Stuck in a small town with parents who could care less if she even existed. Emery happens upon her at work and is just what she needs to get away from her life at home and one step closer to here goal – Seattle. Emery was a complex character and the author did an amazing job bringing his depression to light. I loved him from the get go and wanted nothing more than to see him have more good days then bad. Cooper and Emery’s story was one I enjoyed, of which I had no idea how it would end for both of them and their journey throughout the book kept me hooked from the first page to the last. I’m sure this wasn’t an easy book to write and I applaud the author for doing it as well as she did.
There are books that remain with you long after you read the last line and close the last page. On my Way to You is one of those books. I read it and a day, I cried and fell in love with its characters. And Kandi Steiner’s writing was amazing! It’s a must read.
On The Way to You is a beautifully written story, about hope and finding the will to find something to live for.
Cooper hasn’t had a comfortable life. She has horrible parents and never once has been out of Mobile Alabama. That is until Emery stops at her work and asks her to join him on this road trip. With a split decision, she changes the whole course of her life. They embark on this adventure, they learn about each other. Their hopes and their dreams, the things that they want out of life. There is a darkness in Emery, But Cooper is determined to shine her light.
This was a story about finding a way to live again. Maybe you were living, but you weren’t truly living. I think we all do that, at some point in our lives. It was a good story, but for some reason didn’t pull at my heartstrings. I wasn’t able to connect with these characters; there are a lot of moments that can be hard to digest. But it didn’t take me to the ugly cry. I did love the direction that Steiner made with this story, and I think a lot of people can relate to both characters.
Overall, I give this Three Boundless Stars.
Kandi has written a beautiful and emotional book. I don’t know how I didn’t read this when it first came out. This book was emotional for me, as I can relate to Emery in a big way. This is the first book I’ve read that has touched me personally and written so beautifully. I really loved Cooper and how she fell in love with Emery through everything. Who would have thought, hitching a ride with a stranger would lead to love and happiness. Thank you Kandi for writing this book that has touched me in ways you will never know!!
Weightless, Revelry and now On The Way To You are stories that once I finished by this author I have sat back and did a lot of self reflection. Steiner has a way creating words that touch my soul. A lot of the topics in this story hit close to home because I have a dear friend in this situation. I’m so happy the author wrote about a subject matter that often gets overlooked and has such a horrible stigma associated with it as well. Cooper and Emery are introduced to each other while both of them are at a crossroad. Cooper despite be given a cruddy hand at life has chosen to be optimistic and has such a positive attitude. Emery is going through his own struggles and is taking one day at a time trying to find his light. I loved how Cooper was the light to Emery’s darkness and she made him want to keep fighting. I did have a little trouble connecting with Emery but despite that I still enjoyed this story and it’s message. This is the kind of story that will make you look deep within yourself and ask are you living or just existing? Well done, Kandi Steiner.
What makes you happy?
I think that will be lingering in my mind for a long time after finishing this stunning read by Kandi Steiner. There is just something about her words that hit you hard to the core and just resonate with you. The story of Cooper and Emery is that of raw emotions and unbridled passion but with such a dark and haunting back story. Cooper has been through hell and back in her life and she takes a chance on a random stranger. That concept alone made me smile. It was spontaneous and fun. Emery has a dark side. Not the kind you expect. The connection I felt with Emery was astounding and honestly had me in tears at points in this story because of how much I could relate to Emery. Everyone has their moments when it’s dark but it takes something or someone to help pull you from that, and that is what Cooper did for Emery. I think Cooper reading that journal was a massive catalyst not only for her but for Emery.
That ending. My heart. I was so broken by the time I was done reading this one. There is just something that Steiner does with her words that wrap you up in her stories and this one is so emotionally heartbreaking yet so uplifting at the same time. If you have never read a book by Kandi Steiner, run do not walk to your kindle and get something. Her writing and the worlds she creates immerse you in a rollercoaster ride of emotions yet such real moments. This is by far one of my favorite reads of the year.
I decided this is the only way to review it. So here goes:
On the Way to You I enjoyed the blissful ride.
I eagerly awaited all you held inside.
I was foolish and optimistic,
You came off sadistic.
It’s not your fault and most won’t understand,
but without you there is no plan.
Consumed with all I thought I knew,
I never realized I was On the Way to You.
Once I was found…
Never having known I was lost.
It’s hard to tell when the words aren’t there,
impossible to spread it all bare.
I think I get in now,
but I will never know,
if I was lost,
then who let go…
