On the Run (Guardian #4) by Traci Hunter Abramson is a suspense thriller. Action and adventure abound as threats to eliminate specific world leaders is uncovered. The race to identify traitors and their plans and keep innocent people safe is a plot full of engrossing twists and turns. A little bit of romance between characters adds to the appeal of this well written novel. This book was impossible to put down.
“On the Run” is another great addition to the Guardian Series. Suspense, action and a little bit of romance a long the way, Traci Hunter Abramson knows how to deliver a story that fills all these roles. And the story does not disappoint. I couldn’t put this book down.
Our leading lady and man are intelligent, observant and well trained individuals who are thrown into the whirlwind world of drones, missiles and politics and it does not stop in the suspense department. It has you going from the first page. I fell in love with the characters, Elle and Nolan, and I can see why romance developed between them, even with all the danger they were in. One thing that I really appreciate about Abramson’s writing in this book, and others of the series and on the topic, is that her life experience and research make the stories very real. This realistic approach adds even more to the suspense level for me. Abramson ties up some loose ends while leaving the option for more stories in the future and I certainly hope that she does so. I can’t wait to read the next book from Abramson!
If you are looking for a book that is fast-paced and suspenseful with the perfect amount of romance this is the book for you.
* I received a copy from the author/publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Wow! What an awesome book by Traci Hunter Abramson! On the Run is fast-paced, keep-you-on-your-toes, suspense and adventure! The beginning of the book is bold and takes quick action. And the action never stops. The characters were fantastic. I loved how well they worked together and understood each other. I enjoyed seeing their feelings for each other develop through their trying and difficult circumstances. I loved the ending and the way things worked out so well. I’m excited to go back and read the rest of the Guardian series because I loved this book!
I received a complimentary copy of the book. All opinions are my own and are expressed voluntarily.
Here is an open letter to author Traci Hunter Abramson, you are making me miss a lot of sleep. I start your book and I can’t stop and therefore lack of sleep occurs. Truthfully, I know it’s my own fault that I love Traci’s books and they always keep me entertained. This fast-paced fourth book in the Guardian Series has suspense and romance that keeps you reading and reading.
Elle is a Journalist at the top of her game. She uncovers a possible terrorist attack and then is on the race for her life. Guardian Nolan, or ghost, is sent to protect her. From the moment they meet their lives are in jeopardy as they stay on the run from people trying to kill them.
I loved the action and the romance. I liked having former characters in the series being involved in this novel. The Guardian series is so good and the plot has continued through the four books. I can’t wait for the next one! I know that this could be a stand-alone novel but please read the first books in the series and they’ll make more sense. This thriller has great characters, loads of action and angst, and will keep you biting your nails until the end.
This clean suspense with narrow escapes, and a few nice kisses thrown in, will make any reader lose a little sleep… just to see what happens next.
This book was a thrill to read and kept me engaged from page one.
Elle Jameson is on the run. She witnessed her sister’s death and realized that the only thing that kept her safe was an allergy to lemons. Elle is undercover working as an army lieutenant. She is trying to track down a couple of missiles and a drone that disappeared. She finds herself in the custody of an elite group of operatives known and the Guardians.
This book was packed with action from the beginning. I really didn’t feel like there was any downtime. Elle and Nolan, aka ghost, are trying to discover who stole the stolen weapons, keep her safe from the people after her, and determine who is the mastermind behind the operation.
I loved every moment that I spent in the book. It has non-graphic violence, romance, and suspense.
Source: I received a complimentary copy. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
When investigative journalist Elle Jameson’s, sister is killed Elle is put in the protective custody of the Guardians until they can find out who wants her dead and why. Nolan’s a fairly new Guardian and protecting Elle is his first solo assignment. Can Elle and Nolan find out who’s behind a planned attack and prevent what could lead to WWIII?
Traci Hunter Abramson has long been one of my favorite romantic suspense authors. She knows how to pull me in with the suspense and includes a touch of romance. I read this after several period romances and the nonstop action had my pulse racing. Elle and Nolan (Ghost) are both smart and well trained in their professions, and they’ll use all that training figuring out who’s behind the theft of a piece of military equipment, and what their deadly plan is.
This is a fast pace story, with a few calm scenes allowing the reader to catch their breath. This book is aptly named as that’s what Elle and Nolan find themselves doing for most of the book. I liked how Elle and Nolan worked together, and they built up a trust between them. When your life is on the line you need to be able to trust the person you’re working with. I liked how the other Guardians supported Nolan and helped him on this mission. I liked getting cameos of characters from the previous books and hints that there’s another book in the series!
There are scenes of peril and danger but this is a clean romantic suspense.
I have a hard time picking favorites. But…Traci Hunter Abramson books always top my list. I love her suspenseful romances. They are the best!
This one features Elle. She’s undercover at a German military base. Things go south fast when her sister is murdered in the very first chapter. Elle does the only thing she knows to do. Run. But someone’s still after her.
That’s when the reader and Elle meet Nolan. Nolan is a Ghost. He’s had to leave his own life because of the danger he was in. So he knows what things will be like for Elle. He puts his life on the line for her and people like her.
I love the plot of this one. It’s fast paced and I didn’t want to put it down. Elle and Nolan are constantly in danger. They tried to stay one step ahead of the bad guys, even though they didn’t know who was a danger. I love the aspect of the reader figuring things out as the characters do.
This author’s books are always over way too fast for me! I can’t wait for her next one.
I was sent a copy of On the Run as a gift from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
A fast paced, suspense filled read:
This is a clean political thriller with a slight romantic thread but the main focus was on the investigation. There was however a sweet happily ever after in case you are wondering!
As an investigative journalist Elle stumbles upon some strange goings on at the air base and soon becomes a target as the perpetrators are desperate to keep her quite and stop her investigating. Nolan is the ‘guardian’ sent to protect her and together they worked furiously to try to discover what was actually going on. It was fast paced with action filled suspense that had me curious as to how it would all work out.
The author provided a lot of facts and she had obviously done her research, although this did slow the story line down at times. It is part of a series but can definitely be read as a standalone as I hadn’t read the previous books and was able to follow along without any difficulty.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
This book didn’t stop once it got going. The suspense was steady and drove the narrative. Traci Hunter Abramson was masterful in this latest book in her guardians series. I will admit I haven’t read a guardian’s book before now, but I will be changing that shortly.
I think my heart was racing through most of the story and trying to unravel the mystery was enough to keep my brain going. There was some romance, but it was secondary to the larger story. Who was out to get Elle? and why?
This story was also fantastic in the way it led you through and revealed just enough to keep you hooked and guessing. If you love suspense, with just a hint of romance this is the book for you. Add in a dash of witness protection and this one is definitely a winner.
Traci Hunter Abramson kept me guessing until the end. The twists were plentiful and there was nothing overdone here. Elle and Nolan were a great team and both were brilliant and had something to contribute. This wasn’t about a guy saving a girl, the girl also saved herself and him. It was a true team.
I received an ARC copy of this book and this is my honest review.
I discovered the Guardian Series earlier this year. The books are fast-paced and full of adventure with some romance added in, making for page-turning reads. On the Run makes an excellent addition to the series. I loved Nolan’s determination and Elle’s sense of justice. Watching them work together and become closer was delightful.
*I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.
No one writes romantic suspense quite like Traci Abramson. With a gripping, unique storyline and a sweet romance, On The Run, is a must read. Truly. Don’t miss this one!
As, with Mrs. Abramson’s previous suspense novels, this one will also have readers reading all night to discover the ending! This book starts off at a fast pace and doesn’t stop until the explosive ending. This book was very enjoyable to read. I loved the concept of the guardians and how they work to fight against the evil in this world. I have liked all of her books that I have previously read and loved this one as well. This book focuses on Elle and an investigation that she is trying to get to the bottom of. After an unexpected tragedy where she knows someone is after her due to all of her digging, she goes on the run. Unbeknownst to her, the guardians head her way to help her. Her “ghost” Nolan’s goal is to protect her, but he realizes that there may be a connection between them. Readers will have to read this to find out what happens to them both. This book is written very well. The words flow throughout and as the scenes change it is a smooth transition. The research that was done for this book is apparent and the topic was a fascinating subject! I highly recommend this book! I know you will not be disappointed!
***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, I have purchased her books before.
Romance, clean, suspense; series but stand alone read
Elle Jameson’s suspicion of a crime as she works undercover at an Air Force base abroad. Her subsequent rescue by The Guardians has her running and trying to escape danger with Ghost/Nolan to try to keep her secrets safe and undercover who is involved and behind the murder of her sister and what is going to be done with the secrets she has uncovered. Perfect blend of intense action, moments of digging to uncover the secrets and connections to the criminals, and of course, the attraction between Elle and Nolan. Loved seeing glimpses of other characters from past novels to support the story line in this one. Perfectly paced and detailed, and loved all subterfuge, action, and ov course the romance. Great characters, side characters, and perfect setting abroad after the previous novel set in the US. T.H.A. knows how to right fun, fast paced, action packed fiction with a fun romance in the back ground. More of a 4.5 for me as a reader, but rounding up!
I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. My opinions are my own.
“On the Run” by Traci Abramson was a good read. This novel had a lot of action and a few twists throughout the way. There were parts of this book that were a little hard to follow, but I think that is because of the author’s research and knowledge on the subject. I was very impressed with this. The characters were very well developed and very likeable! All in all, this was a good read.
I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.
“When her uncle had sent her undercover as an army lieutenant, she had expected to find some evidence of misappropriation of funds or missing supplies, but uncovering a possible unauthorized access to highly sensitive material lifted her investigative sense to a new level. This wasn’t a story to be written. If her suspicions were right, this was espionage.“

Traci Hunter Abramson is an author I can always rely on for a great suspense novel!
On the Run can be read as a stand alone, but I would recommend reading (at least) the other books in the Guardian series. One thing I LOVE about Traci’s books is that a lot of characters overlap in her series. I love seeing them pop up throughout all of her books!
Elle and Noah are a dynamic duo. Their chemistry and compatibility for dealing with stressful situations was so fun to read. The suspense starts right off in chapter 1 and keeps you hooked throughout the book.
The clues throughout the book are expertly placed so that you can foreshadow only a little in advance. I enjoyed all of the in’s and out’s this author knows and has researched for spy novels dealing with government protocols, witness protection programs and espionage!
If you have read and have liked any of her other series I highly recommend this book! Traci is an author that constantly delivers a great book each and every time. If you haven’t read her work, but like conspiracy theories, government intrigue, suspense, a little bit of romance and a page turner I would also highly recommend!
Thank you NetGalley and Covenant Communications for an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
This is the first of Traci’s Guardian series that I have read but it thought it was great! I thought it had just the right amount of romance and suspense. The more I read Traci’s books, the more I want to read other books she has written. I loved how she described all the places that her characters had to visit. I loved how the main characters worked together to stop the evil plot from taking place. I really enjoyed this book and I think I will need to go back and read the other books in this series.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
Sucked in from page one, I tried to pace myself to not just devour the book, but enjoy the twists and turns of another fabulous story in the Guardian series written by the ever talented Ms. Abramson!!!

On the Run is a fast paced, heart pounding suspenseful adventure! Working undercover, Elle stumbles upon a treasonous secret and is now on the run from the people who want to silence her. Nolan is tasked with protecting her and together they work to uncover the truth.
The plot was well paced and the suspense is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. There were lots of unexpected plot twists and challenges for the characters to overcome. The author’s knowledge of spy craft was evident throughout the book. This was my first book from the Guardian series but it was so fantastic that now I plan on binge reading the rest!
I received a complimentary copy but it in no way affected my review.
Book #4 of the Guardian Series. On The Run will leave you breathless. An impossibly fast-paced novel sure to keep you up late. Couldn’t put it down.
4.5 stars, rounding up
Yes! Lately I’ve been craving books just like this. Suspenseful and fast paced with enough romance to keep me happy. This author is one of my favorites in the romantic suspense genre so anytime she releases a new book, it’s cause for celebration!
I really love this Guardian series. I’ve been reading them since the beginning and they are all so good. I don’t think you need to read this series in order although I’m pretty sure you will be happier if you do. Characters from the previous books pop in and out of the story so it means more if you know them and their history.
Ell and Nolan are two smart people. They have been trained well and they definitely put all their skills to good use in this story! They are literally on the run from beginning to end in this book. The story moves along quickly without a lot of down time and I loved the sense of urgency I felt as I read. I could feel the tensions rising. So good. Nolan is new to the guardian role and his support team really did a great job of helping through the tough stuff. I really like how they all worked together on this case.
The book wraps many things up but still leaves some room for another book. I really hope that is the case. Fingers crossed! I need more romantic suspense books in my life.
Content: peril, violence, death, kissing.
