AN AMAZON TOP 50 BESTSELLEROn the Rocks is a stand-alone, small town, country romance in the Becker Brothers Series. Noah Becker is nothing but trouble. That’s what Mama told me when I was a kid, kicking his pew in church and giggling at the games we’d play. It’s what the town said when his father died and the Becker brothers went wild. And it’s on repeat in my mind the day I walk into the whiskey … mind the day I walk into the whiskey distillery where he works to buy a wedding gift for my fiancé.
He’s trouble.
Dirty, sweaty, rude trouble.
No matter how many times I repeat it, I can’t escape Noah in our small Tennessee town. And the more I run into him, the more he infuriates me.
Because he sees what no one else does.
He sees me—the real me.
The me I’m not sure I’m allowed to be.
I’m Ruby Grace Barnett, the mayor’s daughter. Soon to be a politician’s wife, just like Mama and Daddy always wanted. Soon to fulfill my family’s legacy, just like I always knew I would.
Until the boy everyone warned me about makes me question everything, like whether the wedding I’m planning is one I even want.
Everyone says Noah Becker is nothing but trouble.
If only I had listened.

The plot of an engaged woman who falls in love with another man has been written before and is a predictable read. But in the hands of this author, it turns into a beautiful story, with lots of heartwarming moments, some drama and angst.
In the little town of Stratford, whiskey is all there is. The Scooter Whiskey Distillery is the heart of the town’s economy and the Becker brothers are as part of its history as the Scooter family. There’s some back story on the development of the distillery and the death of Noah Becker’s father that remains a mystery and I hope will be cleared up in the following books.
Noah works as a barrel raiser, same as his grandfather before him. His brother Logan works as a tour guide and Micky works in the gift shop. The only Becker brother who doesn’t work in the distillery is Jordan, the oldest who also happens to be adopted. He’s the high school football team coach.
Ruby Grace is the second daughter of the town mayor. She’s engaged to marry Anthony, who is running for North Carolina state representative. She’s being run ragged by her mother who has turned into a monsterzilla as they plan the wedding. Even though Ruby Grace has convinced herself that she wants to be married and loves Anthony, you can note that she’s overwhelmed by her parents pushiness and her fiancé’s insistence of a fast wedding. She had dreams of attending college and working in AmeriCorp which is a volunteer organization to help the underprivileged. She had to put all her dreams aside in exchange for marriage and children and a political life.
When Noah first met Ruby Grace, she initially appeared snobby. Later she changes into the giggling nineteen y/o young girl she really is. As they chat, Noah sees through Ruby Grace’s pretensions and realizes that she’s trying to live up to the expectations of others but no one is seeing her and her dreams. As they continue to meet around town, he sees all the different facets of Ruby Grace and is smitten. Likewise, Ruby feels a connection with Noah that she doesn’t feel for Anthony. She feels herself, and she feels accepted as she is. Then she starts dithering and deluding herself that all they have is friendship and she wants to marry Anthony.
I totally enjoyed this book because it was so credible. Ruby Grace is a young woman who hasn’t been able to be young and carefree, dominated by her southern belle mother. She thinks she’s happy following the script written by her parents until she meets Noah and becomes fascinated with him. She can’t help wanting to spend time with him and doesn’t realize her feelings have changed. It takes some dramatic events to clear up her head. The book gets very exciting towards the end and I realized we have more stories coming up about the other Becker brothers. I can’t wait!
Oh my god! This book!!! Noah…
I’m so in love with him!!!
I’m so happy to be given the opportunity to receive another ARC from Ms. Steiner. She is definitely one of my favorite authors.
This book is about Noah Becker and Ruby Grace Barnett… they started rough… like they both can’t decide whether they like each other or not. It was tricky at first… There is also an age gap between them but like I always say, age is just a number and as long as both individuals are of legal age, its inconsequential.
It’s not as angsty as her other books but it is still angsty in all Ms. Kandi Steiner fashion… and as I was contemplating about her books, I realized that I’ve always teared-up or cried at some point while reading her books… there is always something in there that’ll pull on your heart strings tightly that would eventually make my eyes water no matter how much I try to keep it together… and this one is no different. It talked about love of family… the longing for a parent… longing for true love and realizing dreams… the longing for attention and sincere care… and I’d just about almost lost it.
Reading this book will make you realize that it’s not always what it seems… that love is more important than duty… that some people are worth sacrificing for—are worth risking for.
I love that it has a country setting… and that the story stayed true with the traditions of that setting… the pacing worked well and the characters—the brothers, the mom and the grandma figure were all awesome.
Although the story is totally different, it reminded me of Sweet Home Alabama… I don’t know why, lol.
For the fans of A.L Jackson, J.L. Berg, Devney Perry and Jasinda Wilder, this is definitely the book to pick up next.
Love between two people is more than a feeling, more than a word, it’s more than being selfless and giving your all to make the other person happy! It’s bringing each other up, being there “beside” the person you love walking together and compromising so that each person has a say, has a voice! Ruby thought she had that and more but when untold truths are discovered Ruby’s world is turned upside down! Noah has waited his whole life for a woman like Ruby Grace but he can’t have her when she already belongs to someone else!
Ruby and Noah’s story wasn’t what I expected and I didn’t see well most of it coming! My heart broke equally for both of them but my goodness they had some amazing people on their sides! I fell hard for this town, for the people because there’s nothing I love more than a small town novel that sucks you in and makes you feel like you’re a resident not a visitor! The secondary characters were just as amazing as our hero and heroine and I can’t wait to see more of them! The other thing that I absolutely loved was how passionate Noah was! I wish I could go more in depth but I don’t want to take away from the experience just know that Noah will capture your heart and blow you away!
5 Stars!
Whew! What a journey… This is by far Kandi’s best novel to date. An engaging forbidden, slow burn romance with low angst that’ll keep you turn pages after pages.
I love the slow building of characters, not just Noah and Ruby Grace but for the rest of the Becker brothers since all of them will have a book of their own. Woohoo!
The Dual POV is one of the key points in making this book an amazing read because in my opinion, one could only be completely satisfied if both perspective were shared.
Overall, a must read if you like small town romance with a hero that sweet and a heroine to make his world complete.
I highly suggest that you read this book.
As with most small towns in the USA everyone knows everyone’s business. They gossip and judge without really knowing you. They think they know you from what others are talking about.
“He was a lightning storm, fun to watch from afar but dangerous to dance with.”
What happens when you hide your true self to be true to your family? When you have dreams that will just stay dreams so you don’t disappoint those who expect you to fulfill a role? Could you ever walk the path your heart aches for?
“ anyone can lead an ordinary life… But the best adventures are reserved for the ones brave enough to be extraordinary.”
There is so much story in this book.
It focuses on Noah Becker’s story (each of the 4 brothers will have one).
He is a barrel raiser in a small town’s Whiskey distillery. There is some family backstory that hums along in the background that provides a bit of suspense to the book. Noah is dreamy in a masculine, single guy kind of way. And I was totally feeling that.
Ruby Grace Barnett comes back to town from college as an engaged woman, ready to take her place in her family as the dutiful politician’s wife.
She and Noah meet up after having known each other years ago and settle on a friendship.
Then the rails fall off this smooth sailing story. Sooo many things. There are moments that will make you want to literally kill someone. Moments where you are laughing your head off. Moments where you want to shake sense into people. And there are some very sweet, tender moments that I was swooning all over the place about. So many feels. The writing is sensational. And I can’t wait to get more of all these people.
4.5 Stars
I love the cover of this book! That is was drew me in before I even read what the book was about. This romance was just what I needed and the perfect read for the pool.
Ruby is the daughter of the mayor and is about to get married. She was brought up to one day be the wife of a politician. She never expected to Noah at such a young age. Their relationship was something every girl wants. This book had me laughing and the crying the next minute. I loved this book! I highly recommend this book!
Noah Becker and Ruby Grace Barnett… Doesn’t their name just scream Tennessee love!? Well let me tell you how perfect their story is, I fell head over heels in love with their love! Chemistry is easily found within this genre, everyone’s vibing everywhere. BUT, the ability to show passion upon the page, is a unique gift that Kandi Steiner possesses. On the Rocks isn’t a story of instalove, nor does it come with your typical romance stereotypes. Noah and Ruby Grace’s attraction is slowly explored, as she attempts to navigate through one of her life’s roughest seasons. Though the wait is worth it, because when Noah and Ruby Grace finally come together their union is explosive. Page by page, Kandi builds a world deep in the heart of Tennessee, where Whiskey flows, and the difference between Miss and Ma’am is prominent. I knew from the moment I read the synopsis, that this book was going to be one of those that stuck with me, and I wasn’t wrong. Which is exactly why I am so incredibly excited to read Logan’s story in the fall!
I never know where a Kandi Steiner book will take me, but in the end I’m always vastly satisfied. On the Rocks fulfilled that streak.
Small town romance, somewhat forbidden.
Bad boy with a truly good heart.
Good girl who is starting to question where her life is taking her.
An attraction that seems to have a life of its own.
All the elements for a really good love story. I have to say that despite my liking both Noah and Ruby Grace, there were times in the first 35% of the book that it struggled to maintain my attention. Not because the story wasn’t good, but I just wanted more to happen I guess. RG is engaged and she talks about how great he is, but I even from his first appearance I thought he was a too slick. He ended up
proving his douchiness, so there is that. I also honestly struggled with RG being only nineteen. I just had a hard time reconciling this girl who was so clear on what she wanted allowing so many decisions to be made for her by her family without voicing what she wanted. But then that’s a big thing with why Noah was such a force for her, because he SAW HER. Anyway, despite some of my issues, the story really started moving the last half and I just HAD to keep reading. I loved the ending and really look forward to more from the Becker boys.
Noah is a twenty something sexy, extremely handsome, honest, and one of four brothers who all work at Scooters Whiskey Distillery continuing his family legacy as he crafts whiskey barrels. It’s at the Scooters he runs into a fiery red headed nineteen year old women who tormented him in church many years ago. This sexy young women is Ruby Grace the mayors engaged daughter. When they meet there is an instant attraction when Noah question her decision to marry a 25 year old state house candidate. Noah is the only person who as asked her what her dreams are and if she can still chase them married. It’s here in the barrel room of Scooters their story begins. This is a story of finding oneself while chasing your dreams, it’s about teamwork and selflessness. A great story with steamy chemistry definitely a five star read. Kandi has the amazing gift of making you feel as she pulls every heartstring.
Loved this book. This new to me author Kandi Steiner had me at Tennessee….my home state. I loved reading her words that painted Tennessee just as beautiful as it is. I really enjoyed Noah and Ruby Grace’s beautifully written, slow burn, love story. They both won my heart over and melted my heart with their swoon worthy journey to finding the love that they so deserved. I am so looking forward to reading more of the Becker Brothers!!
Happy Reading Everyone!!!

Kandi Steiner is one of my one-clicked authors because I love her famous emotional roller coaster that will leave you with all the feels. On the Rocks was on the lighter side of angst but it still has everything that I love – a little drama, lots of swoony moments, a small town in the country and a loving family. I absolutely love this intense, heartwarming and meaningful story.
The saddest thing in life must be when you have found the right person but at the wrong time. The connection and attraction between Noah and Ruby Grace was expected due to their age and status difference, but they felt so right together. The push and pull between them were intense and I loved the candid friendship that they have formed before their slow-burning and angsty romance. I admired Ruby Grace’s bravery and swooned over Noah’s selflessness and thoughtfulness.
I can always find a life lesson in Kandi’s story and this story is no different. I’ve learned from this story that when you truly love someone, you should help him/her flourish and soar in life. One can be and should be in love and be love at the same time without sacrificing one’s dream.
I’m in love with this sweet small-town romance and I love the Becker brothers. I cannot wait to return to the charming town of Stratford, Tennessee to see what Logan’s up to next. This is a wonderful start of a series and I would highly recommend it.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
OMG Kandi Steiner does it again with Noah and Ruby Grace’s love story. She brings her wit, the romance to On the Rocks from page 1 and I loved every word.
Noah works hard at the whiskey distillery in his small town in Tennessee, he also is devoted to his mom and brothers especially after his father died years ago in what could be described as strange circumstances. When the young and beautiful Ruby Grace walks into his distillery looking to purchase a barrel of high-end whiskey for her fiance Noah knows that he needs to stay away from her. She is not only engaged but she is also 10 years younger than he is and her father is the mayor of their town. All great reasons to stay away – until he starts to spend more and more time with her he begins to realize that she may be young but she is everything he wants from a girl and ultimately for the rest of his life.
Ruby Grace back home planning her wedding to an up and coming politician in the state of Tennessee. She has been brought up and groomed just for this scenario but she longs for so much more. When the sexy bad boy Noah Becker comes back into her life she knows that she needs to stay away from him, but her heart tells her something different. As the wedding inches closer, Ruby Grace wonders if she should be content with the life she is supposed to have or the life she has always wanted.
I absolutely love Kandi Steiner and her writing style and I am so happy that On the Rocks doesnt disappoint. The story is well told, fast-paced with great dialog and characters. I felt like I knew these characters as I dived deeper and deeper into the story. Told in dual POVs we get to see both sides of the story which is something I love. We also get to know Noah’s brothers all of whom I can’t wait to get to know more in what I hope is more books about the Becker family. There are also some great and unexpected twist and turns that really take the story to another level.
Anyone can lead an ordinary life. . But the best adventures are reserved for the ones brave enough to be extraordinary”.
There is something about small town romance that gives us all of the feels. Whether it’s the knowledge that some of these characters have known each other since they were kids, or the fact that there’s this unexplainable type of connection with the most of the residents in the small town or the love you feel when these characters stand up for you. Either way, there’s something to be said about small town romance: They’re freakin good!!
From a young age Ruby Grace Barnett has been taught to be the perfect daughter. From her mannerisms, to having a hair out of place and all the way down to her every day wardrobe attire, she was groomed to be the perfect daughter. When you have parents in the political circle, perfection is a must and if you want the perfect future husband, then you give them nothing less.
Noah Becker is a down to earth good ol fashioned family man at heart. Growing up with his three other siblings, he’s had the perfect example of what true love looks like and he wants nothing more than to have that one day. For now, he’s perfectly content with a no strings attached relationship every now and then and he doesn’t see that changing anytime soon. That is until a red headed beauty throws his world off kilter and makes him want the impossible: Her.
What happens when you find the love of your life and the timing couldn’t be more wrong? You fight like hell to make it right. This story not only showed how these characters fell in love, but we saw the most important thing that was the strong foundation for that love and it was friendship. I really enjoyed seeing Noah and Ruby Grace’s bond and I loved their banter that they had with each other from time to time. It was really refreshing to see that coming from both of the characters and I admired that they took their time in a sense.
I have always been a fan of this author’s writing and this story is no different. Her words felt effortless and even though it wasn’t the type of emotional read that I thought I was going to be getting, I still enjoyed the heck out of it and highly recommend that you read this one.
What another great read by Kandi Steiner. What I love most is that with every book I lose a part of myself to the pages. It really wouldn’t be a Steiner book if your heart didn’t ache at some point. And my heart ached for Noah and Ruby Grace.
From the first pages I fell for Noah Becker. He’s everything I imagine a trouble making southern man to be. And good ole Ruby Grace just trying to find her place in the world.
On the Rocks is a story full of love and dreams. It’s about finding someone who stands beside you rather than before you. Full of loss and betrayal and family. Definitely a book you want to read! Plus, I can’t wait for more of the Becker clan!
When Ruby walks into Noah’s distillery to buy a barrel for her fiancé, she’s reminded once again why she had thought he was so cute back when she was a small girl kicking the back of his pew in church, and he was the older boy who was trouble even back then.
Now she’s 19, about to marry a man her father has set his heart on for her, and still trying to conform to her family’s wishes. But Noah reminds her of things, asks her things, and suddenly she’s seeing things from a different perspective. He is making her want things she didn’t realize she wanted. Will she keep doing as her family wishes, or follow her heart?
On the Rocks is one of those fun, easy reads that come along just when they’re needed. And the best part is that Noah is downright swoon worthy. If you want a romance that’s as charming as Noah’s grin, and as delicious as his family’s whisky, I highly recommend you 1-click On the Rocks today!
On the Rocks is a brand new, small town, country romance from bestselling author Kandi Steiner. Now available in Kindle Unlimited!
There is not a word of Kandi’s that I have read that I haven’t loved the crap out of! This book is no exception!
Small town with a wrong-side-of-the-tracks romance, age gap and whiskey?? Yes please!! (Definitely a Sweet Home Alabama feel to this book)
While I loved the book as a whole, the slow burn was a bit too slow for my taste. But once it picked up I couldn’t stop reading!
Noah is a swoon worthy Tennessee Whiskey barrel maker who falls in love with Ruby Grace, the mayors daughter… their witty banter and denial that they like each other is great!
