This first book in the Carolina Waves Series can be read as a standalone novel. She thinks she knows this player… he broke my heart. He was my first love after all. But I’m older now, wiser. I won’t let anything stand in the way of earning that promotion. Not even a sexy player who thinks we’re going to kiss and make up.
…but he’s full of surprises.
Back in college, I loved two things…Sabrina Kelly and baseball. Baseball worked out great. Sabrina, not so much. I know I broke her heart, but I’m not that guy anymore. My busted knee may keep me off the field this season, but it’s also given me the chance to get her back into my life. She’s a damn good physical therapist and if anyone can get me on my feet, it’s her. And while she’s here, I just have to convince her to give me another chance.
On the Mend is the first book in a steamy new baseball series and is full of hot athletes and sizzling second chance romance.

Loved it! What did I love? How about the groveling, the chasing, the retribution and the redemption. It all played a role and came together making this book a heartwarming storyline.
Yes, there’s cheating and the reasons are pitiful…. I say that because it works two ways. Fathers play a BIG role in shaping a son’s life and morals. Dan’s father was anything but what I’d consider a dad! He literally and figuratively beats Dan senseless when he catches young teenage Dan in a heavy make out session with a ‘good’ girl. See, daddy dearest says you respect the ‘good girls’ and wait till marriage, but the ‘loose’ girls are to be used for the type of raunchy sexual gratification desires before and during marriage.
He meets Bri in college and falls for her. They are exclusive and even plan to marry…. but dad’s teachings are buried deep within Dan’s psyche. Of course, Bri finds out, walks out and doesn’t look back. So, when Dan finally comes to his senses, it’s a day late and a dollar short.
Ten years later, they meet again and it’s not accidental, at least on Dan’s part. He now is a professional baseball player and suffers a possible career ending injury. Bri is a physical therapist…. Sooooo, you can see where this leads. Dan arranges a sweetheart deal for Bri if she will be his therapist. She finally accepts but makes it clear this is business only. She has built up an animosity and hatred for him over the years, using that hatred to help her heal mentally and emotionally. She truly loved Dan and had no idea he was cheating when they were together. During those ten years apart, she but up barriers and walls of protection vowing never to be hurt again.
^ OBSERVATIONS:
I didn’t see this as an easy ‘I’m Sorry’ and ‘all is forgiven’ story. Dan had to work for forgiveness. I appreciated that. Although we never get to ‘meet’ the dad, we do get to know what a scumbag he is. I would have loved to see daddy having to look himself in the mirror and see all the pain he caused….. to Dan and to Dan’s mother.
Why keep Dan’s sisters in the dark? They needed to know who and what Daddy-O really is. Did daddy dearest think his daughters should turn a blind eye to despicable shenanigans on his part…. or heaven forbid, their own husbands?
Dan needed to realize Bri’s fears and tell his old college friends he had plans already and to leave. Also, he needed to set Jack and those groupies straight at that cookout.
4.5*
You must read the epilogue. It was the sweetest and most touching part of the book.
Dan and Sabrina have a past that hurt her really bad and made her relook at men all together. She wants to find someone to love and love her back, but she has a hard time trusting men. When her therapy company gets a call to help a player get back on his feet Sabrina’s boss said yes and they only want Sabrina. Sabrina is told about Dan her ex needing a physical therapist to help him get back on track and back in the game by next season. She gets told she’ll be a pattern of the company which is what she wants but being with her old flame could be hard. Dan’s life has changed over the 10 years since he has seen Sabrina. There are many walls up for Sabrina and Dan tries to get on her good side. Will it happen or will the door close on their life together forever?
I really enjoyed reading and about Sabrina and how she had to overcome the hurt and hate that she had for Dan. Dan had his own issues to overcome before he could be a man that she needed. I look forward to reading more from this author.

This book definitely was a stretch for me. How do you justify and forgive cheating? The idea that you grow up and change is one that I’ve always subscribed to so I took a chance. I’m so glad I did!! This book is amazing!! I found that Tina Gallagher really knew what she was doing as she brought us this story of redemption. She wrote an amazing story and I can’t wait to see what she does next!! The way Dan redeemed himself I’m more than willing to let him into my harem!!
On the Mend is suitably named with Dan recovering from a baseball injury while trying to mend fences with the one that got away. Surprisingly, I liked Dan much more than I thought I would given his past actions, but the author did do an excellent job of showing his growth from the college playboy to the man he is today. Equally surprising is the fact that Sabrina got on my nerves a little with the way she’s stuck ten years in the past. I understood the reasons, but there were times that I wanted to give her a good shake. The story is a little more drawn out than I felt like it needed to be, but there are no serious lag times and the flow is good. All in all, Dan and Sabrina’s romance did hold my attention and Lexi is absolutely adorable, making this one an enjoyable second chance romance.
I was intrigued by this one because Dan is a baseball player. I will be honest when I found out what Dan did back in his college days that’s usually a hard limit for me for a character to come back from, but Tina Gallagher wrote this one where she made Dan redeemable. It shows the growth and maturity of Dan through out the book. Also shows the guilt and regret that eats at him when it comes to Sabrina. There is also an adorable little character in this one that helps Dan’s case of redemption. This is a book that really pulls the spectrum of emotions out of me. Looks like I found a new author to read. I’m looking forward to the next book!
This is the first book in a new series, and is Dan and Sabrina’s story. Years previously professional baseball player Dan, left Sabrina heartbroken by his actions, and now he wants to redeem himself, and get his girl back. As Sabrina is a physical therapist, Dan uses a current injury to get her back into his life. No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a well written story, which flows flawlessly, and is a great second chance romance. I was hooked and intrigued throughout, and look forward to reading more of this author’ work, and recommend for all readers.
