For some, heartbreak becomes a habit.
Losing so much had taught me that it’s easier to just give up the things you care about before they are taken.
Because you can’t lose what you don’t have.
I gave up the warmth of the sun and sand hoping that the cold, snowy mountains of Colorado would be able to numb whatever feelings I had left and bury the pieces of my heart under the frost.
And then I met Emmett Jameson – the King of the Mountain and my brother’s best friend.
He was cold and controlling – treating me like the child that I wasn’t.
He was everything that promised to break what was left of me.
And I needed him for it.
My shattered heart would be safe wanting someone like him.
Then again, heartbreak was my bad habit.

Wow!!! The sexual tension doesn’t just crackle in this book…it threatens to explode. Ally is returning home to Colorado to be with her brother and sister. She has spent many years living in Florida, but she needs the support of her family right now. She has suffered a devastating loss, and she needs to be somewhere that she isn’t surrounded by memories that threaten to drown her.
Emmett has baggage of his own…family issues and secrets. He is also several years older than Ally, but when he meets her, she gets under his skin like no one has before. But, she is off limits. She is the little sister of his best friend, but no matter how hard he tries, Ally keeps invading his thoughts.
When these two meet for the first time, they are both thrown off kilter, feeling things neither has felt for anyone else EVER!!!! However, with the powerful attraction is a lot of snark between them. Ally has never met someone whom she wants to kiss and then in the next instant, punch. And, he can’t decide whether he wants to pull her close or push her away. Ally has even started a diary detailing the reasons she hates him. Sharp definitely knows how to use sexual chemistry to her advantage. I just kept hoping these two would finally get on the same page. If two people ever deserved a happy ever after, it was these two.
The synopsis doesn’t even brush the surface of the depth of this book. It is a romance with depth and emotion. I really like the fact that in the last chapter Sharp sets up the next book which will be Chance’s book. I can’t wait to read that one. I think he is going to have quite a story to tell us.
4.5 Stars – This was my first book by Dr. Rebecca Sharp & it was a memorable one. I love it when broken people are able to help each other become whole again. The way Emmett and Ally walked the fine line between loathing each other and needing each other like air to breathe, kept me on the edge of my seat, waiting for the moment their relationship tipped. The way the author jumped around in time got me a bit discombobulated at times, but I enjoyed seeing all of the important moments in their relationship. Also, the characters were top notch, and I especially enjoyed the friendship between Ally, Tammy, and Jessa. Showing women who fully support each other is important and these three women set a fantastic example to follow. I’m excited to see whose story is next.
I couldn’t wait until Ally and Emmett’s story and I finally had the privilege to read it and fell in love with it oh my gosh it was amazing!!! the forbidden love and the emotional games they played with each other was just so much but kept it going I love this story it showed us who Emmett truly is and I enjoyed getting to know hes not a complete jerk hehe but overall Ioved this story and the ending was great those two deserved happiness and hopefully Chance’s story is in the works thank you so much for letting me read your book I loved it Rebecca your a great and beautiful writer!!!
Holy broken, Batman. This is one story that gutted me. Not only do you have an alpha who immediately connects with the heroine, but they’re both so messed up they become enemies.
So yes, this is an enemies to lovers romance. But it’s not hate at first sight.
Emmett, the King of the Mountain, is best friends with Ally’s brother, Chance. She’s so far off limits in his mind, it’s not funny. Not only can he not chance(heh) his relationship with Chance, aka Pride, he doesn’t do long term. He’s the ultimate player, drowning himself in women, booze, and drugs to forget Ally and everything he thinks he doesn’t deserve. As much as he wants to stay away from Ally, though, he can’t. He’s obsessed, wanting to keep her away from every man and anything that could possibly hurt her, and that includes himself.
Ally is hurting too. Her boyfriend, her soulmate, was in an accident and died, so she moves away from sunny Florida, back to Aspen with her older twin siblings, Chance and Channing. She’s hurting, trying not to feel anything. Her reaction to Emmett is not what she wants nor needs while she’s trying to heal. These two cannot help their reactions to each other, but they cut each other down for months, trying to hurt the other, to remind themselves not to cross the line they so desperately want to cross.
But holy hell, Ally is stubborn. When she decides to hell with the consequences, she wants Emmett, she does whatever she can to prove to him, to prove to those around her, they can be together. At the end, it’s up to Emmett to decide to forgive himself, to heal himself, so he can be with Ally. When they finally get together it’s freaking EXPLOSIVE.
AND I LOVE IT. My heart aches for these two, for the pain they both carried while they tried to live half a life. Rebecca brought these characters to life, through pain and heat ache, but also through alpha possessiveness and sheer determination to help heal another person, and to heal yourself. I loved everything about this book, and was captivated from the very first page, the first line. I needed to see this happily ever after.
I need an epilogue!
I guarantee you will find few books with more angst or which feature a stronger alpha male character than the aptly titled On the Edge ( Winter Games #2) by Dr. Rebecca Sharp. This combination of angst and alpha is quite compelling and creates just the right environment to keep a reader turning pages in anticipation of the next scene.
Two very broken individuals complete an intricate dance along the extremely thin-edged plane in which love and hate exist. Each has their own personal demons from which they are running. Each has an undeniable and inescapable attraction to the other. Each is determined to escape the draw of that attraction even when there is no way to escape the proximity of each other.
Rebecca Sharp does an excellent job of adjusting the level of conflict in order to keep the reader entranced and determined to find out how things will play out between the main characters, Aly and Emmett. She also does a wonderful job in revealing the layers of secrets each character is hiding so that the reader feels their struggles and the pain that comes with pretending all is well despite the truth. Dr. Sharp employs her impressive descriptive skills to take the reader in a visual, emotional, and sensual journey that is moving and memorable.
While On the Edge can be read satisfactorily as a stand-alone novel, I recommend starting with Up in the Air (Winter Games #1). The introduction to the main characters, Aly Ryder and Emmett “King” Jameson, as well as all of the supporting characters takes place among the pages of Up in the Air. The reading experience is enriched by knowing their roots and connections to each other.
Talk about an awesome enemies to lovers/brother’s best friend book! I didn’t want this story to end. I kept putting my kindle down to prolong my reading. Emmett and Ally couldn’t be more opposite, but opposites attract, right? She’s not looking for a bf, she just wants to move back with her twin siblings and forget about the love she lost. Emmett doesn’t even love himself, so how can he love anyone else? He doesn’t use the “f” word. And not the one you are thinking. Forever. It’s not in his vocabulary. That’s until he meets Ally. But she’s forbidden because she’s his best friends little sister. I loved every bit of this story. Love isn’t easy. It’s not all fairytales and happily ever afters. When you can’t breath or feel like you cannot function without your other half, then you know it’s real and you fight for your love. Emmett may be a jerk, (that’s putting it lightly) but I fell in love with his character. Ally and Emmett have something alot of people wait a lifetime for. I cannot wait for the next in the series. Definitely recommend this book as I know you all will love it to <3 <3
“She was heaven on my eyes and fucking hell on my heart.”
On the Edge was my very first book by Rebecca Sharp, so I had no idea what I was up for and got surprised by a witty, funny, touching, hot and slow-burning lovestory.
“I was what could destroy him, but he looked at me as though his life would be worth the taste.”
Ally’s life got turned upside down quite a lot. So it’s no wonder that she struggles with life, love and trust. Because every time things seem to go smooth, she has to deal with loss. Either permanent or uncertain. But she’s strong, stronger than she gives herself credit for. And along the way she falls for Emmett, she finds her inner strength.
“I may be the King of this mountain, but don’t ever mistake me for the Prince in your fairytale when I’m just the asshole in shining armor.”
Emmett is the typical troubled bad boy. At the beginning he’s just cocky and really likes to push Ally’s buttons. If you would google a-class asshole, you’d probably find Emmett’s name listed on top. But along the war he’s fighting with Ally – and most important with himself – he shows us, that there is so much more to him. And we all know, if you are not able to love yourself or admit that you are worth to be loved, you have trouble to love someone else.
“I never asked for a prince. Tonight, I ordered dark and stormy.”
Emmett and Ally’s attraction let the sparks fly of the pages since their first encounter. However, the chemistry was not off the charts as I expected it to be after they first met. Only as the story unfolds, the chemistry grows along the way.
“I hate what you do to me.” “And what’s that?” … “You keep me on the edge of having everything that I want.”
Rebecca found a good way to balance the witty and hot encounters with the more troubled and sensitive sites of the characters. I really enjoyed reading the story about how Emmett’s hard shell softens even melts under Ally’s sunshine and how Ally learns that life will always grant you another chance on love. And that no love is like the other.
“But this was us – we ran before we walked, hated before we loved, forgave before we fought. Maybe it wasn’t right, but it definitely wasn’t wrong.”
On the Edge has you right there, through the whole book, on the edge. Never knowing in what directions things will turn. But one thing you can say about this book, clear as the bright sunshine: On the Edge or another way of saying 19 things I hate about you.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This book once again blows the reader away with it’s fantastic plot and amazing characters. I loved the way that she built the characters of Emmett and Ally and my heart broke for them both a number of times through out the book as they fought the pull that was between them.
This book explores a number of tropes hot sportman (snowboarder), best friend’s younger sister and female protagonist running from something. However amazingly the author managed to do this without any of the story feeling like a cliche. It was fresh, hot, sexy and drew me in from page one.
Rebecca Sharp keeps you on the edge of your seat all the way to the end with a number of twists and turns in On the Edge. While this book is technically stand alone I would highly recommend reading the first book in the series, Up in the Air before starting this book. This is both because it is equally awesome, but more importantly because you get a lot more insight of the backstory of Emmett and Ally. That said I LOVED this book and Sharp honestly has a gift at writing couples who are the unlikely other half of their whole and the perfect story that pieces them together.
I can not rate this book highly enough. A definite add to your TBR!!
I loved this book so much! Emmett and Ally may be my favorite couple of the series. Their story was angsty and emotional and so hot! The plot was fast-paced and very well developed. I ached for the characters and all their past hurts. I will definitely be recommending this book to everyone.
I went into this read with serious high expectation after reading Up in the Air and even with these high expectations On the Edge blew me up out of the water and down the snowy slopes of the Mountain. Honestly the only complaint was that I wanted more Channing and Wyatt, but that’s just because I’m still obsessed with their story from Up in the Air.
Everything about Emmett and Ally was perfection. Enemies to Lovers, this slow teasing burn had me on the edge of my seat. As a self proclaimed and disputed by no one, Emmett is the “King” A-hole for a reason. So freaking infuriating at times and yet I couldn’t help but love him and also want to smack him. With a backstory full of personal issues you learn to understand why he acts the way he does and will love him too.
Overall my favorite thing about how this author writes, is the way that she creates a strong female that is still feminine and vulnerable. Considering how unbendable Emmett is it would take a strong woman to loosen him up, however Ally rises to the challenge. With her own hardships in the past it makes sense why Ally would hide them away, hide behind the fear of losing someone she cares about, so opening herself up again is a wonderful journey of fear, heartbreak, and love.
Watching these two strong and *cough* stubborn *cough* characters battle what they feel for each other is so freaking fun. Obviously the more we are given from this world on the big mountain, the better it gets. I can only impatiently wait for what comes next!

It is the second book in the “Winter Games” Series and can be read as a standalone but do yourself a favor and start at the beginning with book one ‘Up in The Air’ to get the whole devastating experience. The plotlines overlap a little bit, so you will get certain scenes that you already know from the first book but from a different POV.
Emmett is the typical troubled bad boy and your typical sexy, alpha guy with his asshole ways and seemingly uncaring attitude, but just under that is so much more. At the beginning he’s just cocky and really likes to push Ally’s buttons.
I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in this series. Is it December already?
4*
Ally is devastated after the death of her boyfriend Dylan unable to settle she moves to live with her twin siblings.
Emmett – king of the mountains keeps everyone at bay except his few friends, Channing & Chase ally’s twin sister & brother he’s not prepared for the impact Ally miss sunshine has on him.
This is my first introduction to this author & I will definitely look forward to reading more.
Hopefully we will get the story of Jessa & chance please.
I would definitely recommend this book lots of laughs & different emotions felt throughout.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Kept on the edge.

On The Edge is book #2 in the Winter Games series, but can be read as a standalone. If you’re looking for a book with a bit of everything, this is it. Enemies to lovers, best friends little sister, sports romance, tons of angst, On The Edge has it all!
After years of barely hanging on after tragedy struck, Ally decides to move back to Colorado where nobody knows what happened. On the outside she is pure sunshine, while on the inside she is barely hanging on.
Part of the infamous “SnowmassHoles”, Emmet “King” Jameson has spent the past 15 years avoiding his past, and not allowing himself to care about anyone. Snowboarding, drinking, drugs & a different woman (almost) every night is his life, and he’s not planning to change that anytime soon.
“There’s a fine line between love & hate, between love & war. That’s why all’s fair in both; because the line is so fine it’s practically impossible to distinguish.”
Sparks & hatred fly from the moment Ally & Emmet meet. She’s his best friends little sister, aka off limits. He’s the jerk who won’t stop toying with her. They taunt & torment each other, continuously trying to force the other into giving in. But they both have secrets, and her brother isn’t the only obstacle in there way. Is the fallout worth the risk of giving in to what they both want?
The chemistry between these characters was off the charts, the angst never ending. While I really enjoyed this book, I felt like I was missing a lot of the story. I don’t believe this was from not reading book 1, it just seemed like storylines were beginning to develop & then just dropped, or something was mentioned that was completely out of place. There was so much going on, and I think some parts were randomly thrown in, or else I was completely missing how they fit. I would love, however, to read the rest of the books in the series and catch up with the rest of the characters.
Damn! Emmett is a ball of sexy wrapped in a lot of asshole! And I love It! Between him and all of her strong will and feistiness, this book was scorching! Couldn’t read it fast enough!
