It’s quite literally an emotional rollercoaster. A smart, seductive, mind-blowing thriller, but at its heart, a gripping story of love. This second part of The Edge series is riveting.
At the end of Rough Edge, Grey is confronted with a fractured Caden. On the Edge gives us their struggle with their new reality. Grey’s passionate commitment to her husband is awe inspiring, even when it’s difficult for her to do so…especially when it’s difficult. And her husband becomes more difficult by the day…
I love this book, this whole series. Don’t get me wrong, I like hearts and flowers and fluff…but sometimes I want to be pushed to the edge of comfort and away from conventional romance. Thank you to CD Reiss for doing that.
Wow! This was a tough book to read! But it was SO worth it. This book was so great!!!! C.D. Reiss has written some of the most gritty, raw stories I have ever read.
Greyson has got her work cut out for her. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to love some one with such metal issues. But the fact that she is a psychiatrist and that she HAS the answers but she just cant do the things that she needs to do to help her husband. As had as it was to read this book, it took me all of a day to devour it! I did not want to put it down. Greyson is so strong! Caden does not make things easier on her at all! While he loves her, he does not really seem to want to seek real help for the issue that he is facing. And that on its own is so freaking frustrating to me!!! I kind of want to punch him in the throat at times.
It ends with another cliffhanger and so now I am eagerly awaiting the next book so that I can continue the journey with Greyson and Caden!
4.5 HOLY CRAP ON A CRACKER STARS
WOW, WOW, WOW! This story is intense, erotic, engaging and all-around consuming. The journey between Caden and Greyson intensifies as they try to navigate marriage outside the military. It was obvious from the beginning that their journey would be anything but ordinary. Little did I know their path through this new life would be so psychologically off-balance. I truly didn’t know what to expect and now that I’m in this tornado with Caden and Greyson, I wouldn’t know how to get out if I tried. But here’s the thing, I don’t want to leave their world.
Caden is a quintessential strong, alpha male who does not back down where Greyson is concerned. He wants her, he must have her and the connection between them is off the charts explosive. Caden makes no attempt to hide how he feels about Greyson. He embraces the love he has for her and he loves her BIG, it’s all consuming and at times feels bigger than life. Greyson feels the same about Caden, she’s incredibly strong but we’re finding out even she has limits. How much more can she take while they trudge through their own personal war?!?!
There’s not much more I can say without giving the story away. It is so worth the journey to go into this series blind. Oh my gosh, you won’t know what hit you and yet, you will embrace everything their journey throws at you. You will take every punch, every twist, every turn they have to give. Not only that, you will be screaming for more. Broken Edge cannot come soon enough!
I liked this whole series. They should be read in order, starting with the prequel. Unlike some series, there is not a lot of rehashing of scenes we have seen/read before (some authors give us the exact same dialog, once from the male, next the female – very annoying!). The story keeps moving forward. It’s not exactly a dark erotic romance, although there is plenty of dirty sex- it’s more of a psychological study of PTSD and the lasting effects of early childhood abuse. The description and evolution of the disassociated personality was very interesting! I had to keep reading the series to find out how it gets resolved.
I didn’t think there was any version of dark and twisty that I hadn’t read yet, but Girl On The Edge is it! Totally unique and cool.
Twisted and sexy, this story grabbed me from the very first word and never let me go.
Superb writing. Thrilling dynamic. Tension that will both sear with its heat and chill you to the bone. Girl On The Edge has blown me away, and I don’t know how I’ll recover.
Book one in this series introduces us to husband and wife team Greyson and Caden who met and fell in love while serving together in a military war zone and as they return home and try to adapt to civilian life. WOW I’m not sure words would be ever able to explain the intricate relationship between these two characters as they deal with PTSD and the ravages of war. The story line was so layered and intense that it had you on edge, enthralled and addicted through the whole book. The characters were so interesting and complicated and you just needed to know more. The sex was rough, hard and raw and may push the boundaries for some readers. I had this book on audiobook and the narrators Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden deserve an Academy award for their portrayal of these two characters and the love they have for each other, this series was an absolutely brilliant insight into the depths of PTSD and what military personal have to face when they come home as forgotten casualties of war. This is a must read.
Returning from the point where the first book ends, On the Edge maintains the level of its predecessor, delivers a good narrative, unfolds a little more of that puzzle and raises expectations, introducing new elements, new theories and continuing with the feeling that nothing is what it seems. After the shocking ending of the first book, Greyson is at a crossroads, living in a new and out of control situation. At the same time that she needs to take care of Caden, she finally recognizes that she is also a victim in this situation, and her impotence and inability to ask for help is overwhelming.
Damon decides to get out of the dark and take control, but despite physical resemblance and knowledge, his attitudes could not be more different from Caden, or so it seems. And with him present at the moment, we are introduced to this new character, accompanying a little more of his story and this unconventional triangle. But the good, polite and gentle man also has a dark, manipulative side, and this alter ego may have more of Caden than he imagines. But his stay does not last long, as Caden returns.
And throughout the whole plot, these two alternate, leaving Greyson and the reader intrigued.
The two are complete opposites, but at the same time complete each other, one fills the other’s faults. But this game of alternating personalities is getting dangerous, with Caden getting colder and unfeeling, pushing the boundaries to a point where control escapes and with Damon being willing to do anything to hurt Caden, not caring about anything apart from himself, living in an irresponsible and inconsequential way.
Greyson is lost between these two men. The two are the same person, her husband, but at the same time they are not, making her not knowing how to help. I sympathized with her anguish, to see what is happening to the man she loves, and not to get an answer to the problem.
I think Ronin knows or has something to do with this story, his secret military project is at least suspect.
The book introduces new pieces in this mystery, but do not be fooled, when you think you have been able to decipher the mystery, new facts appear and the web is increasing. The end, again ends in a cliffhanger, completely changing the board and moving the pieces, moving them to new scenarios and new conflicts. Again we have to wait who will manifest this time. Once again, it’s worth it.
What a roller coaster ride! A definite mind trip. Hooked line and sinker, until the end. You’ll never know what the next page will bring. You’ll be on the edge the entire book. Can’t wait for book 3.
different, a married couple for a change, unusual senario. couldn’t put it down and couldn’t wait for next book in the series. Great writer.
This series is getting quite intense. It’s such an incredible and original story! CD Reiss has woven such an intricate tale of not just love, but how the psyche handles childhood trauma. The possible affects into adulthood and it’s the underlying tale of Caden and Grayson’s love story.
Book 2 picks up right where the previous one ended. Grayson is now in discovery mode as she tries to uncover the underlying cause(s) of Caden’s issues while maintaining the current predicament.
There’s just so much detail that I can’t even get into…because if you haven’t read the previous book, it take away from the shock value woven me to the story. Just know their story is one you may not have come across before and no matter how intricate their issues their love and desires for one another is so strong that the heat level is at full strength. It’s erotic, it’s sensual and it’s raw. Everything you would expect from CD Reiss novel.
I have no words. I’m utterly speechless. As I try to bring myself to come up with adequate words to describe this book, I must admit that I am at a loss. On the Edge had me reeling even more than that jawdropping ending of Rough Edge.
On the Edge picks up right where Rough Edge left ended and Greyson now finds herself facing Damon. It was so weird seeing Greyson interact with Damon. He has completely manifested in Caden and takes over his body and mind. What blows my mind is how this all affects Greyson. Its her husband, but its not. While Caden and Damon do share major personality traits, they are complete opposites. Night and Day. This book is mostly from Damon’s view with Caden coming out more towards the end after being locked away in his mind for a while. Its also about how Greyson deals with the switch. She both loves the Damon side and feels as if she’s betraying Caden at the same time even though they are the same person. I’m not sure how much more Greyson can take with the fear of losing her husband forever.
On the Edge pushes the boundary even further than the first book. Rough Edge was more of a tease between Caden and the unknown dark presence that lurked at the edges of his mind. It was Caden using rough sex to keep it at bay and showing Greyson another side of pleasure that she craves. But On the Edge is more of the aftermath of the dark presence breaching the barrier. It is Caden, but its not. You have no idea which side you like better. You feel Greyson’s desperation, pain, and helplessness. Its a rollercoaster of emotions that are only building up to see what else will be thrown at these two. And that heartbreaking ending almost destroyed me. I am totally addicted to this series and I am dying for more.
A continuing riveting read! On to book 3!! Love Christine’s writing. This is a must read!
I have no words. Just a lot of moans & sighs. LOL
4.5 Stars
With the way Rough Edge ended I couldn’t wait to get back with Greyson and Caden.
On The Edge is thrilling, intoxicating and psychological. Holy moly was I captivated by Greyson and Caden’s marriage. I’m not going to give anything away. This story is best enjoyed by going in blind.
Greyson is definitely in a tough predicament when it comes to Caden and his mental state. I had no idea what was going on and again I had my own thoughts on why Caden was behaving the way he was. Again I also enjoyed Greyson cause she had her own reasons for acting certain ways. She’s been hiding her sexual desires and now they’re finally being unleashed thanks to Caden. He knows how to bring her pleasure. Damn their scenes were hot as hell.
C.D. Reiss knows how to write dark erotica with psychological elements and with On The Edge she succeeds flawlessly. I was on the edge of my seat numerous times trying to figure out this story. Reiss is a master storyteller and leaves nothing to chance with every twist and surprises in On The Edge. I just need the next book. ASAP!
