I was really looking forward to reading this book! The way Ben and Maddox were in the last book with Dylan. I knew it was going to be an interesting read! And it was!
The beginning of this book draws you in. There was so much action going on. And right away you could feel the connection Ben and Maddox had for each other. And at the same time you could feel all the anxiety they both had too! They were really struggling with their feelings for each other!
This book was a little on the deep side. I wasn’t expecting that. Lots of angst going on. For a couple that knows each other so well… they were really disconnected. I felt that if they had just sat down and talked. They wouldn’t have had so many up’s and downs. They wouldn’t have assumed so many things. I felt there was a lot of undue angst going on with them. And that was the hard part for me in this book. All the back and forth.
I loved them as a couple. But I felt Ben’s hang ups about relationships really put a strain on everything. And I mean everything not just with Maddox. With his family too. He has a hard time forgiving and letting go. And that was his biggest downfall.
I loved the ending of this book! It was really perfect! Ben really stepped it up and showed Maddox the big grand gesture! I knew Ben wanted it too. He just had a lot to work out personally to fully give himself to Maddox.
I loved loved loved how the author put little details about Oceanside (where I happen to live!!) and just place’s all around San Diego! It’s the little details in books that make the difference.

Since I read this was Ben’s and Maddox’s story I knew I was going to love it! The author teased the complicated friendship between them in the previous book and it made me drool. I haven’t been disappointed. Not at all.
Ben and Maddox are best friends and roommates, but nothing more (even though everyone teases them about that). Ben is kind of a sex addict and Mad is more the romantic kind of guy. They both prefer men and they like each other a lot. But it seems both of them are incapable of expressing their feelings… One day they stage a weird threesome, which makes their friendship crumble. What was meant as a way to relieve the sexual tension between them, became something worse. In order to save their friendship, Ben has the “greatest” idea ever: date Maddox!!
That is an emotional trainwreck if I have ever seen one! But even before that, I already had a lump in my throat. With this saga we have never got SEAL action, but in this book we get to follow them into a rescue mission in a dangerous jungle. Ben and Maddox have a little accident and both are injured. Ben’s journey to save his dear friend has been hard to read. They knew there were many emotions unpoken between them and both of them felt there wasn’t going to be a chance to tell them. And yet they remain silent… Bullheaded idiots!! I had such a mix of feelings during those first chapters in the jungle. That part broke me. And I love it for that!
Taking into account this is Romance, we already knew that no one was going to die. But the near-death experience didn’t resolve their issues, so Ben decided to take action and start dating Maddox. It was meant as an experiment to see how well they fit together. As readers, we already knew that wasn’t going to end well. They are awesome friends, but they had so much fear of failure… I knew the other shoe was going to drop sooner or later and it was going to be sad and messy. I wasn’t wrong. In the “friends to lover” books, when the main couple has a fight and they break up, the lose so much more than the romantic relationship. Once again, I could barely hold the tears…
I didn’t know which one to support. I was so mad at both of them. I just wanted Ben and Maddox to talk (really talk!!) and fix everything. They have been friends for 12 years!! They should be able to sit down and be honest by now!! The time they weren’t in speaking terms was torture for them, their friends and me!! I couldn’t wait to the make up part, which was weird (as it should be), but sweet. I have said several times that I do not like the endings with rings, just because many times they don’t feel natural. I must admit I didn’t mind it at all with this couple.
The adult parts of this book are also very well handle. I really enjoyed them, because I was very invested in their realtionship. Their encounters are sweet, naughty and hot. The sex scenes are not just “word counts” as in other books.
This is the third book of the saga and it’s quickly becoming one of my favourites in its genre. Nxet book is Dustin’s story, the brother of Dylan. I thought that character was straight, so no idea what I am going to find.
On Point is the third book in the Out of Uniform series, and we learn more about Ben and Maddox, who have been known to the reader since Zack and Pike’s book.
They have been best friends for years, but things have been weird between them lately, and neither of them knows how to make it right. You find out what happened through a series of flashbacks, from both points of view, so you can see the situation for both of them.
Oh my goodness, I wanted to give Ben a hug – even knowing he’d push me away! He has been so hurt in the past, and it is affecting his judgement of the present and the future. For Maddox though, he will try. Maddox is a dream of a character. He is tough and gentle, hard and soft. He is a S.E.A.L. who dreams of owning his own bakery, and gets excited about trying new recipes. You wouldn’t think these two would match, but they do, if only Pike would let them. Of course, it doesn’t quite go according to plan, but they have plenty of steamy fun times on the way.
One thing I love about these books is previous characters aren’t forgotten. Through cameo appearances, the reader finds out just how they’re getting along. Brilliant!
There were no editing or grammatical errors that interrupted my reading flow, and I was thoroughly engrossed from start to finish. I am loving this series, and this is definitely my favourite so far. Absolutely recommended.

I liked this a lot. The guys seemed real to me, even if they are much more macho than I could ever dream of being. Having said that like all real men they have their vulnerable side and their ability to love and a wish to be loved. Maddox and Ben were made for each other IMO, and their time stranded in a jungle in the Philippines with snipers and crazies all around them is heart-stopping at times. Neither man comes out unscathed nor is their an immediate falling into each other’s arms when they recover. The road to happiness is at times just as fraught with danger as was the battlefield. Excellent.
Book#3 in Annabeth Albert’s M/M military romance series is my favorite so far and one of the best friends to lovers books I’ve ever read.
Great Series
This is the best one is the series. All of the emotions were on a much deeper level. There was excitement and fear. Plus some laughter and the big deep ugly crying. As much as I have loved every book by this author this one is by far my favorite. I got in deep and didn’t want to see it end. Yet when it did I couldn’t imagine a better ending. I was given the privilege and opportunity of an advanced reader copy and am voluntarily leaving a review. I can’t wait to see where Annabeth Albert will take this series next.
