I just gave my copy of this book to a friend to read on her plane ride home. It got me thinking about how much I enjoy this little gem. I’ve gone back to this series several times, and I’m usually not one to re-read books. If you haven’t given yourself the pleasure of riding down Samantha Young’s street (or road or lane), I encourage you to take the drive. It’s thrilling!
This is one of those books where I felt like I had traveled with the author to the apartment at Dublin Street. The characters felt like new friends. The storyline dealt some difficult mental health issues, but the balance of humor, mystery, and romance kept me turning the pages.
I loved everything about this book and the characters!!!! Sexy, funny, entertaining, steamy….all the things I LOVE in a book!!!
It was so well written
I loved this book. It was completely engaging. Joss and Branden were each overcoming their own demons, she more than him. It gave the relationship a realistic push and pull. It was a wonderful book and completely engrossing. Great author.
Loved this book !!
I loved this book and the whole series. I would re-read again and again.
Deals with so many issues for a self-protecting woman which heads into a great deal of heavy emotional drama, with scenes with her therapist. A bit too much angst for my taste.
Jocelyn Butler learned a hard lesson when she was younger, never let anyone close. If you shield yourself you will never feel the pain of loss again. Uprooting herself at eighteen, Jocelyn moved to Scotland to begin a new life. In need of a new roommate she finds herself quickly becoming attached to Ellie Carmichael whose sweet demeanor makes it hard to keep those gated walls shut.
Braden Carmichael has a type of woman he goes for and it always is short lived, but while in their company he is loyal to a fault. Enter Jocelyn whose first meeting is memorable and second meeting even more so. Braden wants Jocelyn, everything about her is a puzzle and she has no problem keeping him at a distance which leads to a cat and mouse game between the two of them. The problem is Braden wants more from Jocelyn, including her opening up while Jocelyn is scared to death of letting anyone in.
My goodness what an intensely beautiful story. Jocelyn is broody, confident, but in a way so vulnerable it spears you. Braden oozes sex appeal, confidence, and determination especially when it comes to Jocelyn. Would reread this again and again
A thrilling and inspiring book. Very special in terms of writing. It’s hard to put down the book, and it’s hard not to fall in love with its amazing heroes. This is a love story that each of his heroes carries with him the package of his life. There is nothing too special in the book in terms of plot, and so I felt comfortable reading such after several thought-provoking books.
Samantha Young
Best book ever, definitely one of my favorites and guess what? There’s a whole series!
I was really looking forward to reading On Dublin Street. There were so many amazing reviews on this book. 5 stars here, there, and everywhere. so I just knew I was going to love this book. Then I read it and I wanted to choke the life out of the heroine Joss. Jocelyn Butler aka Joss just about ruined this book for me with her emotional constipation. Don’t get me wrong she had a lot of bad things happen to her. Her parents, little sister and best friend died when she was a teen. So some emotional issues is totally understandable, but omg.
Joss came off in this book as cold. I get she was suppose to be emotionally damaged and have all kinds of walls up. But she ended up coming off with no personality traits. She was so standoffish that I as a reader didn’t get to really know her either. Other than the fact that she hurt Braden and Ellie over and over again with her cowardly ways and coldness. She shut herself off from everyone. For 8 years she didn’t deal with her loss or anything really. She just lived in a cowardly state of denial. I would have been fine with that. I would have understood and been sympathetic had that crap stopped when she fell in love with Braden. But nope she hurt him over and over. She pushed him away when he needed her the most. She did it so much that I lost all sympathy for her and just wanted to tell her to get over it already.
Braden and Ellie I loved. Braden was sexy and I loved his single minded pursuit of Joss. He wanted her and he wasn’t going to take no for an answer. I however didn’t get what he seen in her at all. Braden was caveman sexy and had a charm that jumped off the pages. So while I really liked the hero and his sister and I enjoyed parts of this book Joss really brought this read down for me. Although I will say that I didn’t hate Joss she just drove me nuts.
One of the Nest series I’ve ever Read
Joss and Brayden are steaming up the sheets on Dublin Street and kicking off a fantastic new series that will leave you begging for more Joss has been burying the memories of family and all the pain and heartache that goes with having lost them in one fail swoop. She is crippled by this tragedy and doesn’t let people get close to her any longer knowing that it’s just not worth the risk loving anyone when your most likely going to loss them. So to escape the hurt she left her homeland and fled to her mothers birth land of Scotland to try and find some semblance if peace. Looking for a new place she answers an advertisement for a flat on Dublin Street not knowing just how much it would change everything. Brayden is quite self assured and confident, but all that is thrown for a loop when he meets the sassy beautiful Jocelyn. The brash and bold American is unlike anything he is used to. He is so intrigued and cannot help but be drawn. Now he just needs to crack her shell, which is proving to be quite difficult. But Brayden is no quitter and he will make Jocelyn see that opening up is worth the pain that might someday come.
It’s an amazing book. Great plot. The writer makes you feel every single things the characters are actually feeling. I’ve never felt this kind of bonding with a book.
One of the first books I read of Samantha’s that had me fall in love with her books and of course Scotland! Living in NZ it’s a long way to visit but one day I hope to get there.
