Highly recommend.

This book is different than a lot of books I’ve read. It’s mainly about Cam and Seth and how they connect. Cam doesn’t want to stop in any place too long. The only problem is that she is starting to enjoy the slow life on the island her father purchased. Seth is there to help pay off his college loans. But the island draws him in as well. There is also a very big surprise in the book that throws a monkey wrench in things.
I recommend this book for those who like an easy read.
I was given this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
Reading, On a Summer Tide, was like taking a vacation that was immensely refreshing. I could feel the sea spray & the wind blow through my hair as I read each word. This narrative about a family whose lives took an unexpected turn yet, the interruption leads them on a grand adventure, is one story you cannot put down. Be prepared to read until you reach the end staying up all night IS an option. I think I need to make a reservation to “visit” Three Sister Island in the near future.
On a Summer Tide
Camden dad buys part of a island off the coast of Maine. He wants to make the island more presentable. More than that he wants to use it for a place for a kids camp. Will he be able to make it work?
They have quite a family. Camden has a adopted son from her best friend, then there is the other two sisters. I would of liked to had more from Cooper which was her son. Maybe there will be in future books.
Reading this book made me want to find out more about Maine. Would be nice to visit there someday.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher through Celebrate Lit. I was not required to write an positive review. This is my own opinion.
“Life presents you with important choices. You can lash out, become bitter. Or draw closer to God, become better.” (Cam remembering her mother’s voice saying this. Page 81).
I was immersed into this superlative story from the first page. Paul Grayson meeting with his three daughters shocked all of them when he said he sold their home and was relocating to a remote island where he had fallen in love with their mother at camp. On a Summer Tide presented many different personalities and views among the three sisters, Camden (Cam), Madison, and Blaine. I enjoyed the way Suzanne Woods Fisher crafted this story with detailed vivid scenes and flowing words that I felt I was in the midst of Niswi Nummissis Island which meant, Three Sisters Island that Paul changed the name to. Even the locales were not excited about the name change but they did like some of the new ideas he brought to life.
Fisher brought family drama to life among the Grayson family in so many ways with some lovely results when they are joined forces. This story primarily focused on Camden (Cam) and her young adopted son Cooper. The locale residents added plenty of laughter, moments of tears, suspense, resilient, tenacity, cheering and renewed faith to the sisters and a deeper love. I appreciated the connection of one locale to Camden’s past.
I look forward to reading this entire series as it is released to see how the Grayson family, especially Madison and Blaine, continue to move forward with their individual life as well as a family while residing on Three Sister Island.
I was not required to write a review for this book but I must as it’s worth 5+++ stars. This new contemporary series by Susanne Woods Fisher brought life to this remote island in Fisher’s new series Three Sister Island. Fisher is one of my top favorite authors no matter the genre and she definitely produced a masterpiece with this first book in her latest series.
I enjoyed this read, and it kept me page turning along with a few chuckles.
This is a family with a strong bond, but since the death of their wife/mother, they have been missing their glue. When their Dad buys an island in Maine, they think he has dementia.
You will quickly become involved in these three sister’s lives and their Dad, and surprises abound and most of it wrapped up in love of God and family.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
I received this book through Celebrate Lit, and was not required to give a positive review.
I was pleasantly surprised at how well the author wrote this contemporary after being a wonder at Amish books. I loved how it delved into the family dynamics and personalities of three sisters and their father. I want to go visit them and help fix up the camp. Each sister is dealing with the loss of their mother and changes in their lives. I enjoyed the quirkinesses of Peg Legg and her disastrous cooking had me cracking up. I can picture her pigtails and hear her sassiness. This is a great read of relationships, forgiveness, faith, family, romance, and finding where God wants you. This is the first book in a new series and I look forward to reading more. You will feel like you visited Maine and watched the waves crash, visited the lighthouse, and tasted the salty air when you are finished. Make this your beach read for the summer.
I won a copy of this from the author. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
One man’s insanity is another man’s genius – Joyce Carol Oates
What an absolutely wonderful way to spend a day! This first book in the Three Sisters Island series just leaves me waiting for more. Paul Grayson purchased 51% of an island off the shore of Maine, hoping to bring his family together again. Meanwhile his daughters wonder whether he has totally lost it! Cam is a very successful businesswoman with a young son. Maddie has just graduated from college and is looking for a counseling position. Blaine just seems to find it impossible to make up her mind what she wants from life. The author has done a fabulous job of bringing out the differences in each daughter – can they possibly work together to help their father make a success of this new venture? Can the faith of their mother bring them back together again?
The descriptions of this beautiful island made me wish I could visit it. Sure, it doesn’t shine like the city, but it has a charm all its own. I was entranced by the nature walks and wished it was possible to join in. The statement made by their dearly departed mother sums up just a little of what I want to take from this story. ‘Life presents you with important choices. You can lash out, become bitter, or draw closer to God, become better.’
I received this ARC through NetGalley and CelebrateLit. The impressions and opinions given are my own.
I just finished reading On A Summer Tide, book one of a new series by Suzanne Woods Fisher called Three Sisters Island. Fans of Suzanne’s are familiar with her popular books about the Amish. This book is a departure from that genre and highlights the author’s talents for well written fiction.
I enjoyed meeting the Graysons and learning, piece by piece through the chapters about their family dynamics and what gave each of them their individual outlooks on Three Sisters Island. Paul Grayson, patriarch of the family had thrown them all a curve ball when he asked them to clear their schedules to join him on the island. The journey was more than they bargained for and upon their arrival, the girls wondered if their father was going senile.
Day by day, as they breathed new life into Camp Kicking Moose, new dreams surfaced for everyone. Perhaps there is magic in that ocean air filled with possibilities found with love, rekindled faith and a lot of listening.
There are so many surprises in the story that it is hard to not to give it all away. I recommend this book without hesitation to those who like contemporary Christian fiction with a slight twist of mystery.
While Suzanne Woods Fisher is best known for her Amish fiction, her Three Sisters Island debut is a contemporary romance that leans a little toward women’s fiction with nary an Amish character in sight. And believe me, once you start On a Summer Tide, you will get sucked into this story.
The book’s main focus is on the eldest sister, Cam, but the ensemble cast included Cam’s father, two younger sisters, and some island residents that are so memorable they’ll feel like people you know in real-life.
As the Greyson sisters find their way to the dying Maine island to confirm their father isn’t losing his marbles, these sisters each are hiding in their own way. I enjoyed the way Fisher peeled back the layers on each of these women, showing their insecurities, doubts, perceptions, and the way the other two see them.
There is also an organic faith element that develops in this book. There are questions, doubts, misdirection, and a slowly building desire for a peace that passes understanding. But at no point does life suddenly become easier because of a new found relationship with God.
With some fabulous unexpected plot twists and turns that just might take you by surprise, On a Summer Tide becomes even much better. I can’t wait to find out which of the remaining sisters gets the spotlight in book two of this series.

On a Summer Tide by Suzanne Woods Fisher is a wonderful way to start off summer reading, or for that matter, any season of reading. I loved the story. As a result of a neglected promise, widowed Paul Grayson sold his family home, up and left the whirring fast-paced life of the city to buy, yes, buy! a quiet remote island. And not only does he have to contend with his three adult daughters and their reactions, but the locals are mighty leery of any newcomer, let alone this interloper who bought their island. There are plenty of quirky inhabitants on the island from Peg, the level headed owner of The Lunch Counter who can’t cook a lick, to the mayor, who likes to make an entrance and has no vision for the future, to the handsome Seth, who is an enigma wrapped up in mystery. Each of the three sisters has a unique personality and it’s captivating to get to know them as the story unfolds. So much fun is incorporated into the drama of this book and it all just draws the reader in and doesn’t let go until the end and still, this reader wanted more. Unexpected twists in the plot with some to make you smile and some to make you wonder, whoa, where’s that going to go? And of course, there’s a little romance in the girls’ lives. Would they find that the guys in their lives were the ones who would help them be their best selves or is there disappointment in store? What a great story…a story of family and community, of learning and maturing, of hope and healing. Could the fulfillment of that neglected promise be the beginning of a dream come true? This is one reader that is hoping there is a whole lot more to come from Three Sister Island.

Although I’m not a huge fan of Amish fiction, I have always enjoyed the Amish novels by Suzanne Woods Fisher. Her characters are always strong and realistic and the stories dig a bit deeper into their inner lives than is often the case. On a Summer Tide is Fisher’s latest novel and it departs from the Amish genre and takes her readers into a contemporary tale set on an small island off the shores of Maine.
In this novel, the three Grayson sisters are drawn to Three Sisters Island at the request of their father who purchased the entire island in order to restore the campground that held so many memories for him. Although the sisters generally thought their dad had lost his mind, they agreed to stay as long as they could to help him. In this wonderful story, each of the sisters fell under the spell of the island and began to really find themselves for the first time as well as restore their relationships that had become distant over the years.
I loved this wonderful story with its sometimes quirky characters and laugh-out-loud moments but mostly for the depth of love and faith expressed throughout its pages. Of course there is some romance along the way as well as some unexpected twists and surprises that could change everything for two of the characters. I am deliberately vague because this is one story that I would hate to spoil for anyone. Just take my advice and pick it up if you don’t read another book this summer.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by Celebrate Lit. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own.
On a Summer Tide is a beautifully written story of a family who is struggling to pull together as time and a past tragedy are tugging them apart. The Graysons are far from perfect, but that’s what makes their story so real and heartwarming. The family dynamic is one of dysfunction–feelings kept hidden, worries pushed aside, and selfish decision making all make for chaos. But when Paul, the patriarch, takes a gamble on a small island struggling to survive, he hopes to restore more than the summer camp where he met his wife. He wants to mend his relationship with his daughters.
The Grayson family story is woven deep within the individual stories of the three sisters: Cam, Maddie, and Blaine. While this book focuses more on Cam, giving us a deeper insight into her childhood, you will get to know all the Grayson women well by the end of the book. I loved the dynamic between the sisters. There are harsh words, doubts and even a tantrum or two, but underneath it all, they love each other and support each other. As they draw closer together, their story will make you laugh and cry. (Sometimes on the same page!)
Cam’s relationship with Seth is slow-paced and sweet. I loved how he deeply cares for the nature of the island and how he is able to use that to share his faith with Cam.
I enjoyed watching the Grayson family heal through their work on Three Sisters Island. I truly felt like I was part of the family as I cheered for their victories and cried over their sorrows. The setting was ridiculously beautiful and was painted perfectly. You will wish you could make reservations at Camp Kicking Moose!
I would definitely recommend this book. It would be a great summer read–even better if you’re on the beach.
I was given a copy of this book through Celebrate Lit in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions are my own.
This is an incredible look at bonds between sisters.
The characters in this book are fantastic. They are all incredibly well developed and as varied as you will find in any group of people that you find in your own life. A number of the residents on Three Sisters Island when the Grayson family arrive have very differing quirks that kept me smiling at their antics.
As the story progresses we quickly find that the three sisters are so set in their own way of living that they each believe that they have all the answers as to how things should be handled. This naturally has created huge rifts between them. I thoroughly enjoyed following their interactions and seeing how they grew and learned to build bridges back together.
At the same time all of the Graysons are having to figure out how to be accepted by the islanders who don’t like outsiders. The problems that they encounter added another layer of interest for me.

This was a wonderful beginning for a series. I did not want to put this book down. I loved all 3 sisters and their father. This story shows how different every person is even within a family. This family grows every day that they are on this island. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I received a copy of this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
“On a Summer Tide” by Suzanne Woods Fisher
Clean, Heartbreaking, Soul restoring, Happy, Love and Faith, they are all here in this story. Yes it took me a few chapters to get truly into this story… so very glad a kept reading one more chapter. Page one is the Cast of Characters… and each plays a very important role in the story.. The story would make an excellent Book Club selection… and even has some handy discussion question at the very end… and just before the very end… the recipe for one of the dessert item mentioned in the story. I heard about this story and requested an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley.. and I was lucky enough to be rewarded with this read. I fell madly in love with the good guys in this story and thoroughly enjoyed watching them blossom. I think you will like this story, also. I will be watching for the next book in this series “Three Sisters Island”. Happy Reading !
This is a charming debut to a new series by Suzanne Woods Fisher. I loved the setting of an island on Maine and the fun characters the Grayson family meets when Paul buys an island of all things. Paul’s daughters: Cam, Maddie, and Blaine are stunned to find out their dad bought an island. This book is a good intro to the series, giving us Cam’s story mainly while helping us to get to know the other characters as well. This book was not without surprises along the way and I loved seeing this family strengthen their bond which had become frayed over the last few years. Fans of Irene Hannon’s Hope Harbor series or books by Becky Wade will enjoy this new series. I am looking forward to the next book in the series!

I have not read a book by Suzanne Woods Fisher that I didn’t like. “On a Summer Tide” is a contemporary romance. It is the first installment of the “Three Sisters Island” series. We are taken to a small island off the coast of Maine. Paul Grayson, the father, and former sports broadcaster, buys a camp called Kicking Moose Camp. He spent many summers there as a teenager and young adult. He Corinna, his wife there. Sadly she passed away in an accident a few years before the story begins. The camp is located on a small island off the coast of Maine, He decides to sell his house causing his daughters — Camden, Madison, and Blaine– to be upset. Fischer does a wonderful job of telling the story of this family and all the emotions they are going through. She also had some fun quirky characters in the small town. For example, the good looking schoolteacher Seth Walker.
The story is mainly told through the point of view of the eldest daughter Cam. She is a competitive businesswoman with a 7-year old adopted son, Cooper. Maddie is working on becoming a counselor, but lets anxiety and fear rule her. Then there is Blaine the youngest of the sisters. She is easily influenced and doesn’t know where she wants to go in life. We also get to see a glimpse of Maddie and Blaine’s lives too. Blaine is the youngest of the sisters. Each of these sisters is going through their own life struggles. The biggest problem with all the girls is they only think about themselves and doesn’t look at the other people around them. Each sister shows growth.
There is romance in the book, but it was clean. When it comes to faith in the book it was perfect. It wasn’t preachy. It had a nice amount.
“On a Summer Tide” is full relatable family struggles. It contains a lot of lessons such as overcoming grief; “pray more, say less”, we can choose to remain bitter in life or grow closer to God and forgive. There are many themes in the book. Everything from grief, forgiveness, acceptance, family, and love.
I couldn’t help but fall in love with this family. I wish I could go to their island. Overall this is a great novel about family. I look forward to reading another book by Suzanne Wood Fisher because she has never let me down. Summer is now here and this would make a great beach read.
“Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, provided this complimentary copy for my honest, unbiased review.”
On a Summer Tide begins Suzanne Woods Fisher new series, Three Sisters Island. Widowed Father, Paul Grayson shocks his three daughters by selling his home and buying an island! How will this event affect them all?
I have to admit; I was not sure how I would like On a Summer Tide. I am not used to Miss Fisher writing contemporary novels that did not involve the Amish. After reading this, I realize that she is so talented, that she can write a fantastic novel in any genre she decides to. Within the first few pages, I was hooked and held my attention until the end. I enjoyed every single word.
I highly recommend On a Summer Tide and am giving it a well deserved five plus stars. I can not wait to find out which Grayson sister will be featured in book two of the Three Sisters Island series.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
