For Madison Grayson, life is good. Newly licensed as a marriage and family therapist, she can’t wait to start her practice. Despite the unfortunate shortage of eligible bachelors on the island–they’re all too young, too old, or too weird–Maddie feels like she’s finally found her sweet spot. Not even one panic attack in the last year. Not one.And then Ricky O’Shea drops in. Literally. Floating … Literally. Floating down from the pure blue sky, the one man in the world she hoped never to see again–the one who’d been her archnemesis from kindergarten through her senior dance–parachutes into town, landing on Boon Dock, canopy draping behind him like a superhero. Ricky O’Shea. Now Pastor Rick, the new minister on Three Sisters Island.
Time to panic.
With wit and a bit of whimsy, bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher invites you back to Three Sisters Island where family, forgiveness, and a second chance at love await.

Thank you Suzanne Woods Fisher for continuing the story of the three sisters. In the last book we learned how Cam came to be a mother, how she made her life back on the island and fell in love. This time she is still having troubles being so controlling but and she is active in the story but we are more faced with Maddie and Rick and how their lives have come back together. Dad owns the camp on the island, Peg is still running the lunch counter, Blaine well, Blaine is Blaine what can I say “youngest child syndrome” says it all. Maddie as brought her counseling practice back to the island and wants to develop a clientele that will make it worth her while…but her nemesis and the boy who teased her all her life has shown up as the new town minister. Her office in is the building that houses the church office causing them to constantly be running into each other. Can they find a way to work things out and can she ever forget or forgive what happened the night of their senior prom. (you know there are two sides to every story).
Take this trip with the family as they deal with the humor, honesty, lies and pitfalls that every family has to deal with. OK, I can’t wait for Blaine’s story now….
“On A Coastal Breeze” by Suzanne Woods Fisher is a stunning novel about forgiveness, redemption and second chances that will passionately pull at your heartstrings to bring out the music within.
When Paul Grayson settled on Three Sisters Island, Madison, his second daughter never dreamt that her life would change so dramatically. When the new Pastor Richard O’ Shea, an avid parachutist who loves skydiving, floats down from the sky onto the island, he creates quite a stir. It was only when Madison heard his full name that a bell rang in her mind. As far as Maddie was concerned, Pastor Ricky O’Shea should remain a distant, suppressed, if-not-forgotten memory, not an adventurous skydiver.
Pastor Ricky O’Shea looked exactly as Maddie remembered, dark eyes, a strong, vibrant, dynamic personality, courageous and fearless. But Maddie was older and wiser. Enough of the old turbulent past. Time to grow up and move on.
Ricky was completely comfortable with himself. He fervently hoped Maddie wished him well in his new role as pastor. Over eight years had passed. Time to forgive and forget. Today heralded a brand new start. A clean breeze cleansed Maddie’s mind, giving her a fresh start with God’s healing power.
Maddie tried to understand God’s plan for her. She must let the Lord turn her weakness into strength. God’s guidance and wisdom were her strength and confidence. Only what God thought of her ultimately mattered. Maddie prayed that the Lord would fill her with His wisdom, healing and hope.
And so, when Rick finally proposed, Maddie sensed that God had prepared her to love Rick wholeheartedly with a lasting, mature love. More than that, Maddie knew that if she trusted God with her life and Rick’s, she was safe. And so, Maddie said yes, to God and to Rick, confidently trusting that their story would end well in God’s hands.
As this lovely story caught hold of my heartstrings, I just had to explain the heart of the story to prospective readers, to urge you to get your own copy to treasure always.

I really enjoyed this story I was however not a fan of so many characters I wish the author would have just stuck with just two characters. I really wanted more from Rick and his thoughts and feeling, up to the end he felt more of a mystery that not. I did feel like we heard a lot more of Cam and Seth’s story and Madi and Rick’s story was just kind of thrown in instead of the other way around. I get this story was geared around the family, I guess I just wanted more and felt like something was missing a little. I did like being able to catch up with Cam and Seth. I don’t know why but I feel like I can relate with Blaine I really can’t wait to read her story. I love the banter between Peg and Paul and the fun and with the other characters. Over all this book is a clean read and is worth the read. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion
Stunning, just stunning. If you have not read a book by author Suzanne Woods Fisher, then your reading world is truly incomplete. According to Amazon, Fishers books number over one million copies! Often writing historical or Amish novels, On a Coastal Breeze, the second in the Three Sisters Island shines with the authors’ tremendous storytelling skills.
As suggested by the name of the series, Three Sisters Island, the series focuses on three sisters finding themselves and love on an island off Nantucket.
You will fall in love with this series!
After her first year at culinary school, Blaine Grayson returns to her family on Three Sisters Island, feeling unsettled to the point she loses her sense of taste and smell, which doesn’t bode well for her cooking. Her sister Maddie has just opened her own counseling office and has mostly learned to deal with her anxiety. Their father Paul has just turned sixty. Though he loves running Camp Kicking Moose, he’s feeling rather grumpy about some of the campers. Oldest sister Cam is so focused on obtaining a grant for energy for the island that she can’t see she doesn’t have time for fiance Seth and her adopted son, Cooper. The small church now has a pastor, who parachutes in and just happens to be Rick O’Shea who was Maddie’s neighborhood pest from kindergarten through high school, though she also had a secret crush on him. There is humor, faith, nuggets of wisdom, introspection, and fear that must be faced in this second book of the Three Sisters Island series. I thoroughly enjoyed my second visit to the island and look forward to returning for the conclusion of the series.
I don’t know what I like best about this book. Is it the setting of Three Sisters Island, or could it be the realistic characters that live there and seem like they’re old friends of mine? What about the suspense that is just enough to keep me guessing or the way the author adds little nuggets of advice and wisdom, along with moments of humor, as she tells her story? Could it be that all of these reasons combined are the reason that I enjoyed On a Coastal Breeze so much?
This is the second book of the Three Sisters Island series and I quickly fell in love with the people of this beautiful place. The main focus of this book is Madison Grayson, a newly licensed marriage and family therapist, but her two sisters and her dad are also included, along with Ricky O’Shea, the new minister who is also Madison’s old acquaintance. To say that their past relationship is complex is an understatement but this is what adds so much interest to the present. Could there possibly be a future for the pastor and the therapist?
Susanne Woods Fisher has written an entertaining story filled with faith, trust, love, and family. I want to learn more about the residents of Three Sisters Island and I’d like to go back to see what is next in store for the Grayson family.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. A positive review was not required. These are my own thoughts.
Loved this so much! What a wonderful heartwarming family type story. The characters were described to the point of being so real and relatable I knew I could be friends with at least some of them if not all. Three Sisters Island is a place I could enjoy visiting on an extended vacation.
The three Grayson sisters, Cam, Maddie, and Blaine each had their own issues and problems. Instead of solely zeroing in on one main female character, each one was delved into with their problem and how they went about working on it. I loved the way the author went about doing this. A lot was packed into these 291 pages because trivial things were not dragged out like in other novels I’ve read. This was refreshing and helped keep my attention and my mind from wandering.
Lots of fun things going on like the new pastor on the island literally seeming to drop from Heaven via a parachute, a little brown duck following camp owner Paul around to his chagrin, and Blaine trying out all of her culinary dishes in the local restaurant even though she had lost her sense of taste and smell. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through Celebrate Lit and Netgalley but was not required to write a review.
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Another awesome read from Suzanne Woods Fisher. I think I have read all of her books to date and they just keep getting better. In On a Coastal Breeze, Madison is happy with her new office and her newly opened business. Living on a small island has its perks, but available bachelors is not one of them. But she is still happy! That is, until one day trouble landed on the island.
This is such a fun story to read. As I read, I had all kinds of emotions. There was certainly many feelings of happiness throughout this story, but I found myself frustrated at Madison at times because she acted like a child! But there are sad moments as well, combined with more joyful times, so as you can see, no getting bored with this one.
I love the island setting if this story, and everyone knows everyone so it is a cozy place to live. The characters are so expertly created and their development makes you want to keep reading to the end. And I like and appreciate the way the author takes characters through the gospel in a way that it doesn’t feel like it’s too much. It’s like the every day living conversation. We dead about several difficult issues, which were handled very well. But being one that don’t give away much of the story, you need to read this book to get a full feel of what it is about. And believe me, it is well worth the read. If you enjoy a good clean and enjoyable read, this is one you don’t want to miss.
A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Feder
I just loved the multiple characters point of view. Very refreshing, beautiful and it was so easy to keep up. I really enjoyed the family story and the island setting. I admired Maddie’s strength and fell in love with Rick’s fearlessness. I loved Cam’s drive for anything she put her mind to. I could relate so well with Paul and all he had to weather as a father to 3 girls. Wow!! Blaine’s character was a very challenging one. I can’t wait to read her own story. I hope she gets her act together.
I loved how the author illustrated how we can use God’s word to fight fear, anxiety and face our deepest fears. They don’t have to rule us.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good family story with a lot of love.
No Spoilers!
I was utterly bedazzled by my virtual trip to the remote, beautiful Three Sisters Island off the coast of Maine—with the scent of lilacs mingling with sea salt in the air, a camp for summer vacationers equipped with canoes and kayaks, a diner where everybody knows your name, and ducks!! Yes, you read correctly—ducks (one in particular!) lol
Don’t let my remark above fool you, though. Although this novel has some witty, laugh-out-loud moments, there’s plenty of heartbreaking, soul-searching drama as well. I have read Suzanne Woods Fisher’s Amish books since the very 1st one and was a bit disappointed when she switched genres. However, I was genuinely surprised that her contemporary romance novels are just as wonderful and beautifully written…with realistic, multifaceted, complicated characters.
I’m anxiously anticipating the 3rd book in this series as the promise of not just one, but TWO new romances are waiting in the wings and some important issues are hopefully resolved. It’s not necessary to read the 1st book in this series as the author does a great job of recapping, however, by doing so will help you become better acquainted with the characters and where they got their start.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are entirely my own.*
I really enjoyed reading the first book in this series “On a Summer Tide”, so I was really excited to read more about the sisters and their move to the island off the coast of Maine.
This story mostly focuses on Maddie, the middle sister, but also includes Cam and Blaine throughout the book so readers can continue to keep up their lives since book 1.
I liked that the chapters included the perspectives of not only the 3 girls but also their dad Paul so we could get different points of views and outlooks. We also got to read flashbacks of Maddie’s childhood and her interactions with current town minister Rick.
I loved reading about the small town and characters and how all three girls were trying to improve and move forward with their different life goals and paths. The author made the town and island so descriptive and fun, I felt like I was right there along side them.
Great clean christian fiction book with interesting characters and stories. Highly recommend this book and series!
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
I am never disappointed by a book by this author and this is no exception. I love this series. This one mainly is about Maddie and Rick but we learn more about Cam and Seth and Cooper also. We also get more about Blaine and I can’t wait to see how she solves her problems in book 3. Then there are the minor characters on the island that brings this town so much character. I laughed and cried throughout this romance. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
Having read the first book in Suzanne Woods Fisher’s Three Sisters Island series, I was eagerly anticipating a great read with On a Coastal Breeze. I was not disappointed in the least. I loved going back to the Island with all its quirky inhabitants. Many were introduced before but some new ones were added–most interestingly, the new pastor, one of the sister’s, Maddie, childhood nemesis. Each of the sisters, with unique personalities, have unique issues that are motivating decisions, some good, some perhaps not so good. Good-natured humor is incorporated into the drama of this book and it all just draws the reader in and doesn’t let go until the end and still, this reader wanted more. Unexpected twists in the plot with some to make you smile and some to make you wonder, whoa, where’s that going to go? And of course, there’s romance! Will Cam and Seth ever set a date? And how about Maddie and the new pastor? Can old resentments be forgotten and love emerge? What a great story…a story of family and community, of learning and maturing, of hope and healing. I am so looking forward to more in this series. I received a complimentary copy of this book via CelebrateLit. A favorable review was not required and opinions are my own. This review is part of a CelebrateLit blog tour.
Much more than an entertaining book, On A Coastal Breeze uses the experiences of the people living on this Maine island as a microcosm of society with which we can identify. The desires, the fears, the hopes, the dreams—they all tug at the heart. The novel’s multiple themes, vulnerable yet independent characters with powerful character arcs and psychological issues, and the growth they experience as they face their struggles all make for a powerful tale of second chances and striving to overcome. We can learn life lessons from them all, such as not to accept false assumptions and to “say only what is necessary,” as the Grayson sisters’ father’s therapist advised. And Dory, the dog, adds to the endearing story. For a compelling and insightful reading experience, this author does not disappoint. This book can stand alone, but it’s better to read the first in the series before this one so you know the characters and where they are in life. I look forward to the next in the series. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.
I love that we’re back on Three Sisters Island in On A Coastal Breeze. I love Suzanne Woods Fisher as an author. Her books are all engaging and make you feel like you’re really there and a part of the action. This is the second book in a series and one of her series that is actually not Amish.
Last year I read the first book in the series which focuses on Cam but also introduces us to all three of the sisters as well as their widowed father. And from there he buys an ENTIRE island and they all move. But it’s not as simple as it seems. The sisters aren’t exactly close but they’re all moving in with dad to help him get the island ship-shape.
I really enjoyed my journey back to this family and island and highly recommend the whole series. While this book can be read as a stand-alone title you should definitely read the whole series. I’m anxiously awaiting the next book so we can get a closer look at Blaine and what her story might be. And maybe we might see some romance for their dad as well.

The perfect book for the season, On a Coastal Breeze takes readers back to Three Sisters Island for another visit with the Grayson family and friends. Maddie has finally opened her own counseling business and should be celebrating her success but who should show up literally out-of-the-blue than her childhood nemesis Ricky O’Shea – and he just happens to be her new pastor! While the focus is on Maddie, other favorite characters from the previous novel make their appearance in this installment for another few hours of reading enjoyment. Oldest sister Cam is so busy attempting to arrange an alternative energy source for the island’s undependable electricity that she keeps putting off setting a date for her wedding to Seth. Youngest sister Blaine is home from culinary school but it is obvious something is amiss with her.
It was fun to observe the family dynamics of the Grayson family although there were times their interactions hit just a little close to home. I loved how Maddie was a sounding board for her sisters and was able to offer them valuable advice but had difficulty accepting their input into her own situation. Ricky was a great character. I enjoyed seeing him through Maddie’s memories of him and the person he had become. The plot moved along at a good pace with some misunderstandings, second chances, and a surprise or two.
I thoroughly enjoyed On a Coastal Breeze and the previous book of the series. I recommend it but also suggest that the series be read in order to gain the most understanding and enjoyment from it.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by Celebrate Lit. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own.
It was a pleasure to return to Three Sister’s Island for the second installment of the series. I love the Grayson family from the first novel, On a Summer Tide, and I was looking forward to getting the know the sister even better in this story.
On a Coastal Breeze is Maddie’s story, and I enjoyed seeing her overcome her anxiety to help others–both her clients and her sisters. It was refreshing to see a family who turns to each other (or at least to Maddie) to talk through their problems. It seemed her office door was always swinging with one sister or the other.
I also really enjoyed the story of Maddie and Rick. Their shared past was entertaining, frustrating, and downright heartbreaking, but it was gratifying to watch them heal their relationship piece by piece.
Just like in the first novel, the Grayson family is strong, even when one of them is struggling with a weakness. And I love how they rally around each other and are always looking for ways to appreciate and include each other more every day. There are many things I like about the Three Sister’s Island series so far, but the genuine feel of the Grayson family is what I like most. They are damaged. Scared. Insecure. But together they will find a way to persevere.
If you are a fan of contemporary Christian fiction, you will enjoy this book! And while the romance is slow-developing, it is very much satisfying.
I was given a copy of this book by Celebrate Lit with no expectation of a positive review. All opinions are my own.
This is the third book in the series. It is not necessary to read the other two book to read this one. I preferred the first two books over this one. I wasn’t able to get into Madison. She kept going back and forth in her thinking of Rick. She is a psychologist. She would have been better taking some of her own advice. I also found her to be very opinionated on how other people should live their lives. I did enjoy reading more about the other two sisters.
I was given this book by Revell Publishing in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
This is a wonderful contemporary romance!
I love the cast of characters in this book. They have such a wide variety of personalities that it is amusing to see how they interact with each other. It is fascinating to see how many of them have two completely different sides. One that is evident to others and the other that we only see in their private thoughts.
There are a couple of things that I picked up on that left me really thinking about my own life. It is much easier to see the faults of others than it is to see our own short comings. Also we are much quicker to remember things that others do that hurt us than things that we do and say that hurt them.
I definitely love the focus on second chances that comes through this story. We all have times that we desperately need one.

I am so happy to be back on Three Sisters Island. After loving the first book in the series last spring, I was excited to see what going on with the Grayson family-this story didn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed this book which focuses more on Maddie and what happens when her nemesis/crush from childhood becomes the pastor on the island. Ricky was such a fun and likable character. Their relationship was fun to watch progress and the way Suzanne weaves in their backstory was a cool element. I also loved catching up with Cam, Seth and Cooper and seeing their story progress. Now I am super excited to get Blaine’s story..can’t wait to see what happens next!
